    W artykule podjęto zagadnienia dotyczące relacji pomiędzy eseistyką, autobiografizmem a pozycją czytelnika bądź czytelniczki. Główna hipoteza autorki brzmi: eseistyczne „ty” w większym stopniu niż eseistyczne „ja” może być kluczem do autobiograficzności esejów pisanych przez kobiety. Lektura eseistyki Herty Müller, Jeanette Winterson oraz Zadie Smith hipotezę tę wzmacnia, ale też modyfikuje współtworzące ją przekonanie o pisarstwie jako poszukiwaniu porozumienia z odbiorcą.
    The article undertakes the topic of the relations between essay, autobiography and reader’s position. The main hypothesis in this paper is: esseyistic “you” more than esseyistic “I” can help in understanding the issues of autobiographism of women’s essays. Herta Muller’s, Jeanette Winterson’s and Zadie Smith’s essay writing confirm this hypothesis, but also modifies conviction about writing project as an agreement between author and reader.

    There are no/mad women in this atticThe basis of the contemplations contained in the article is a book by Monica Świerkosz titled In the space of tradition. Prose of Izabela Filipiak and Olga Tokarczuk in disputes about literature, canon and feminism. The author of the sketch outlines the threads on the feminist discourse about the past, which remain the key to the book’s analyses and reconstructs the importance of nomadic methodological project, which by criticising the concept of feminine continuum enables the expansion of languages to interpret “text genealogy” of contemporary Polish female writers.

    The author of the text analyzes the strategies of provincializing the Polish feminism and gender studies. Starting points for interpretations in the article are Dipesh Chakrabarty’s book – Provincializing Europe. Postcolonial Thought and Historical Difference and feminist publications about modernity, nationalism, capitalism in Poland. In the article the category of a province is considered as an emblem existing in a new regionalism’s discourse. The author claims that the history of the category of a province is entangled in the ambiguities which are related to the glocal understanding of a region; she also reflects on the relations between feminism, regionalism and local experiences of a global reality.

    In the article, the author presents an interpretation of the novel Szpital Czerwonego Krzyża by Michał Choromański. One of the key interpretative hypothesis advanced by the author of the article based on a reading of the novel is the assumption that the work constitutes an important statement on masculinity and disability, exposing the artificiality and unoriginality of masculine gender roles and criticizing somatic culture. This criticism is, in turn, significant with regard to twentieth-century reflections on body issues in post-war modernity. The author of the article indicates that Choromański’s work, written before the Second World War but published not until 1956, is a piece of significancefor the reconstruction of issues of disability in terms of Polish literary history.

    The article reconstructs selected problems of critical and publicistic discussion around Artur Domosławski’s book Kapuściński non-fiction concerning the status of the biographical narrative, the role and duties of the biographer and the limits of biographical disclosures. The themes discussed in this sketch made it possible to indicate current issues related to workshop deficiencies and duties of the contemporary biographer, including the exposition of issues related to modernity, subjectivity and ethics of biographical undertakings.

    Zofia Nałkowska’s writing project.
    Opis:
    The author interprets two novels by Zofia Nałkowska — Węzły życia [The Bonds of Life] and Niecierpliwi [The Impatient]. In a hermeneutic-feminist analysis of selected figures and motifs, the article presents new meanings of concepts that are crucial for the understanding of anthropology of corporeality in Nałkowska’s writing project. Among the focal points of the discussion there are the dignity of “lay bodies,” as well as “male” and “female” fantasies of violence.

    Literature, Feminism, Criticism – Other Constellations? In her article the authoress outlines the issues concerning the relation between feminism, literary criticism and modern literature. She poses some questions concerning the prose oeuvre of contemporary Polish women authors as well as the social contexts and aesthetic strategies associated with it. What proved to be important here were also issues allowing reflection on the change of literary-critical and historical and literary discourses inspired by feminist thought, as well as issues allowing to record the losses and gains resulting from the entanglement of feminist literary criticism in mass communication and the results of the „cultural turnaround” of feminist literary studies.

    Autorka artykułu analizuje trzy biograficzne opowieści o cygańskiej poetce Bronisławie Wajs – Papuszy: Demony cudzego strachu Jerzego Ficowskiego, reportaż Angeliki Kuźniak oraz film Joanny Kos-Krauze i Krzysztofa Krauzego. Każda z wybranych do analizy narracji stanowi zbiór wątków i problemów związanych z antropologicznymi, społecznymi, tożsamościowymi strategiami i pułapkami biografistyki, a zarazem podejmuje niejednorodną problematykę dotyczącą związków życia i twórczości Papuszy z politycznymi i społecznymi kontekstami biografii autorki Pieśni mówionych. Dla Jerzego Ficowskiego centralnym zagadnieniem w rekonstrukcji historii życia Bronisławy Wajs pozostaje tragizm postaci poetki, w reportażu Angeliki Kuźniak kluczowe okazują się kwestie biografii i społecznej przemocy, w filmowej opowieści o Papuszy z kolei powracają zagadnienia cygańskiej pamięci, utraty i inności.
    The author of the article analyzes three biographical stories about the Gypsy poet Bronislawa Wajs – Papusza: Demony cudzego strachu by Jerzy Ficowski (Demons of someone else’s fear), report of Angelika Kuźniak and the movie by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze. Each narrative selected for the analysis is a collection of topics and issues related to the anthropological, social, identity’s strategies and pitfalls of biographistic studies. Each one of them is also about the heterogeneous issues concerning connections of Papusza’s life and work with political and social contexts of her biography. For Jerzy Ficowski central issue in the reconstruction of the history of Bronisława Wajs’ life is tragic figure of a poet, in a report by Angelika Kuźniak the key issues are those related to biography and social violence, in the movie about Papusza main themes are gypsy memory, loss and otherness.

    W artykule podjęto rozważania dotyczące wybranych metafor obecnych w feministycznych projektach historycznoliterackich. Autorka szkicu sformułowała pytania o znaczenia i – krytyczne, opisowe – możliwości związane z metaforyką fali, lądu i marginesu. W przypadku opisu literatury kobiet pytania te wyznaczają nie tylko podstawowe dylematy wynikające z prób konceptualizacji literatury kobiet w szerszych, syntetyzujących perspektywach, ale także pozwalają na wskazanie najważniejszych sposobów ujęć kobiecego pisarstwa w jego relacjach ze społeczno-politycznymi przemianami, pisarskimi i badawczymi biografiami, kanonem.
    This article takes up a consideration of certain metaphors present in feminist projects of literary history. The essay’s author formulates questions about the meanings and critical and descriptive potential of the metaphors of the wave, the land, and the margin. In the case of describing women’s literature, these questions  highlight not only the fundamental dilemmas resulting from attempts to conceptualize women’s literature in broader comparative perspectives, but they also allow us to identify the most important means for grasping women’s writing in terms of its relation with sociopolitical  transformations, academic and literary biographies, and the canon.
