Opis:
Time analysis is a common approach for testing and detecting methods for the performance analysis of computer systems. In the article it is shown, that measuring and identifying performances based on a benchmark is not sufficient for the proper analysis of the computer systems behavior. The response time of the process is often composed of the execution of many subprocesses or many paths of execution. Under this assumption, it is presented, that both convolution and deconvolution methods can be helpful in obtaining time distributions and modeling of complex processes. In such a modeling the analysis of measurement errors is very important and was taken into consideration. The example of using the methods in buffering process is also discussed.

W pracy przedstawiono metodę chwilowego źródła ciepła do jednoczesnego określania trzech parametrów termofizycznych przewodności cieplnej k, dyfuzyjności a oraz ciepła właściwego cp w czasie jednego pomiaru. Metoda jest obecnie stosowana na świecie nie tylko dla materiałów termoizolacyjnychale również dla stopów metali. Cechuje ją krótki czas pomiaru. Szczególnie ważna jest metodologia badań. W ostatnich latach dokonał się w tym zakresie duży postęp. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań k, a i cp dla polimetakrylanu metylu, tzw. pleksiglasu (PMMA), polistyrenu ekstrudowanego firmy BASF (XPS 3035 CS) oraz stali stopowej 1H18N9T. Badania k, a i cp w funkcji grubości próbki przeprowadzono w temperaturze pokojowej dla próbek w kształcie walca o średnicy 50 mm dla PMMA, 1H18N9T i 200 mm dla XPS. Grubości próbek zawierały się w granicach od 2 mm do 30 mm.
A heat pulse method is presented for simulatneous determination of three thermophysical parameters, i. e., the thermal conductivity k, the thermal diffusivity a, and the specific heat cp. All of the thermophysical parameters were determined during a single measurement for a given sample thickness. The method is now commonly used not only for hear insulating materials but also for metal alloys as well. As advantages of the method one can include its wide application possibilities and a short time of measurement duration. The methodology is of vital importance. The paper presents the measurement results of k, a, and cp for plexiglass (PMMA), extruded polystyrene (XPS), and alloy steel 1H18N9T.

We study electron-hole exchange interaction in a single CdTe/ZnTe quantum dot by polarization-resolved photoluminescence measurements. We focus on recombination of excitonic states involving p-shell electrons: $X^{2-}$ and $XX^-$. Recombination lines of $X^{2-}$ and $XX^-$ states exhibit fine structure, which can be consistently explained within a model with four parameters $δ_{i}^{αβ}$ representing strength of iso- and anisotropic parts of interaction between s-hole and s- or p-electron.

We examine the influence of a weak non-resonant illumination on the quantum dot photoluminescence spectrum. We observe that even very weak illumination affects both intensity and spectral position of emission lines in the spectrum. We discover no significant asymmetry in spatial dependence and infer that the observed effects cannot be attributed to a single neighbor center.

We present a study of the neutral exciton and negative trion recombination spectra of an individual CdTe quantum dot with a single manganese ion, in magnetic field measured in the Voigt configuration. We describe experimental results and compare with a theoretical model. The quantitative agreement between the model and the experiment allows us to determine separately the electron g-factor.

Bottled water has enjoyed a global increase in popularity since it is generally perceived to be superior in quality to tap water and necessary when tap water is non-potable. As a result, ensuring that it meets the requisite quality standards is of vital importance. This work aims to examine the content of solid particles, including microplastics, in bottled water available in Polish stores. The second aspect is the preliminary determination of the influence of the water gassing process, together with thermal and light factors, on the content of particles in the water. The number of particles was counted by colour and shape, with the number ranging from 87 to 188 per litre of water; on average, there were 136 ±32 particles per litre of water, demonstrating that water from disposable plastic bottles is contaminated with various substances. The difference in the number of particles may be due to the origin of the waters, the processes they were subjected to prior to bottling, the properties of the bottles as packaging, and the conditions and length of storage and transport. Additional Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis confirmed that about 75% of the particles were polymers, and 50% of them were plastics. Particularly alarming is the fact that the bottled waters mostly contained microplastic particles (MP) of smaller sizes, the kind which is recognized as being the most dangerous to human health. In the study, most particles were in the form of irregular shapes, which may indicate that they come from the destruction of waste or plastic products. This is also indicated by the domination of colourless particles. More particles were found in waters exposed to high and low temperatures than in waters stored at room temperature, potentially indicating that storage conditions for drinking water are important. Taking into account the results obtained, increasing attention should be paid to the health risks posed by such microplastics and there is a clear need to introduce legal regulations on the matter. The lack of any legal guidelines or unified standards in the field of MP research means that the results are not always representative, and it also makes it difficult to compare the results from different studies.

The rate equation is used for description of photoluminescence dynamics after pulsed excitation of various states of quantum dots. The picosecond dynamics of averaged charge state of quantum dot is described. We compare our simulations with the experiment and come up with the conclusion that probability of carrier capture weakly depends on quantum dot charge state and that electrons and holes are captured non-synchronously.

We present a study of time-dependent transmission spectra of a modulation-doped Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$Te/Cd$\text{}_{1-y-z}$Zn$\text{}_{y}$Mg$\text{}_{z}$Te quantum well with variable hole gas concentration. We study the influence of pump pulses on excitonic absorption in subpicosecond time scale. A spectrally broad probe pulse of duration of 40 femtoseconds was used to record the absorption spectra at controlled delay. Studies of temporal evolution of exciton energies revealed coherence decay of linearly polarized excitons and thermalization of non-equilibrium exciton states. We found that a characteristic timescale for thermalization of non-equilibrium populations of photocreated excitons is between 0.8 and 3.6 ps. The timescale of this process depends on the hole concentration in quantum well: for higher hole concentration the decay is faster. Long-lived photo-induced magnetization accompanied by heating of the magnetic system was also observed.

Opis:
We present studies of resonant excitation of self-assembled CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots. Photoluminescence excitation measurements revealed existence of sharp resonances, common for photoluminescence lines attributed to different quantum dot charge states. We conclude from the ensemble of photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation results that we observe energy transfer in coupled quantum dot pairs.

In this work we present a statistical study of resonantly excited luminescence of coupled CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots studied by photoluminescence excitation measurements. We investigate the probability of resonance occurrence as a function of resonant energy. We come to the conclusion that the distribution of the inter-dot resonances is uniform, which suggests that the inter-dot excitation transfer is not limited by mean density of states in the emitting quantum dots.

Time-resolved correlation measurements were performed to examine the statistics of photon emission from a single quantum dot at high excitation levels. The range of strong powers was determined by the saturation of intensity of excitonic lines. The significant contribution of pulsed background luminescence forced us to sophisticated analysis of the photoluminescence spectra. For quantum dots grown in the Stranski-Krastanov mode, one-photon emission was found to a good approximation. Fluctuation type quantum dots exhibit a significant level of multiphoton emission.

We study experimentally and theoretically excitonic recombination processes in CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots. The single quantum dot photoluminescence spectrum was observed and emission lines from X, X$\text{}^{-}$, X$\text{}^{+}$ and 2X excitonic states were identified. Experimental results were analysed in the theoretical model based on the effective mass approximation. Numerical calculations of energy positions and recombination probabilities of X, X$\text{}^{-}$, X$\text{}^{+}$ and 2X were performed. Computed results reproduce correctly the order and relative positions of emission lines and ratios of radiative lifetimes.

A recently proposed magnetooptical method of determination of interface mixing was applied to CdTe/CdMnTe superstructures grown by pulsed laser evaporation and epitaxy. Diffusion length were found ≈ 5 Å for a multiple quantum well and > 15 Å for a superlattice. Ranges of Mn mole fractions and well width values enabling efficient application of the method were determined.

We performed pump-probe time-resolved absorption measurements on a modulation p-doped (Cd,Mn)Te quantum well. The density of the 2D hole gas was controlled, in the 10$\text{}^{10}$ cm$\text{}^{-2}$ range, by additional cw illumination. Interactions between photocreated neutral (X) and charged (X$\text{}^{+}$) excitons and the 2D hole gas were analyzed. We found that the strongest effect is the influence of the carriers on both X and X$\text{}^{+}$ optical resonances. Neutral and charged excitons are screened by holes, which results in the decrease in their intensities. We conclude from polarization resolved experiments that this screening is spin-dependent: it is more efficient between holes with opposite spins. Binding holes into the charged excitons reduces the screening of the neutral excitons and leads to an enhancement of the neutral exciton intensity. We also analyzed weaker effects, due to exciton-exciton interaction, at a constant hole density. We found that the reduction of the neutral exciton intensity due to two different mechanisms (phase-space filling and biexciton formation) is almost equal. We observed a spin-dependent blue shift of the neutral exciton line in the presence of a population of neutral excitons created by the pump pulse. Due to the attractive interaction between excitons with opposite spins, the corresponding shift of the neutral exciton is smaller than that observed due to the interaction between excitons with the same spins.

In this paper we present studies of magnetization relaxation in a (Cd,Mn)Te quantum well containing 3.2% of Mn, after a pulse of magnetic field. The relaxation was found to be very fast, with dominant component faster than 10 ns. Upon application of static magnetic field the relaxation does not slow down, in contrast with the behavior of very diluted quantum wells or bulk material.
