Opis:
Clay rock hydration is primary reason of borehole wall instability during drilling. In correspondence to this fact, it is substantial to counteract abovementioned phenomenon. It can be achieved e.g. applying ionic hydration inhibitors in the drilling mud formula. From the point of view of drilling effectiveness, the most practical is water based inhibitive mud. Its stabilizing properties are partially effect of soluble salts and low concentrations of polymer. This type of the mud exhibits good rheological properties and causes, in most of cases, increased rate of penetration (ROP). Ionic inhibition contribute to reduction of both dispersion and hydration of clay rock due to decreased instability of shales containing swelling clays. Hydration degree depends on the type and concentration of inhibitive ions in the drilling mud. This paper describes studies on influence of the chosen inhibitors (KCl, K2CO3 , HCOOK, CaCl2) on technological parameters of the developed drilling muds with triple inhibition system. Obtained results indicate good parameters of the mud. For HCOOK and CaCl2 increase of the inhibitor concentration causes major changes in mud parameters, however for K2CO3 and KCl those parameters do not change significantly.

Opis:
The article describes issue of a mud for hydrogeological wells and a method of removing sediment accumulated on the well filter and in the near-well zone after borehole drilling. Developed fluid formula is based on both primary criterion of selecting the best technological parameters of the mud and restrictive ecological standards. Because of the contact between the mud and the underground water (which is the main source of potable water), a need to select appropriate components such as biodegradable polymers (Guar-Gum, XC) and other organic compounds that are not causing harmful environmental effects has arisen. Furthermore, developed formula allows for relatively easy removal of mud remains from the well filter and near-well zone, inereasing well efficiency. The paper includes research findings of sediment acidizing by the procedure called "soft acidizing". Any information about practical application of this procedure can hardly be found in specialized literature. Therefore, concentrations and variations of the acetic, hydrochloric and citric acids were subject of research and analysis.

This paper describes a research finding of drilling mud designed for UnderBalanced Drilling. The UnderDril mud formula is based on a low number of compatible components, therefore it enables uncomplicated adjustment of its technological parameters to specific conditions and contributes to the reduction of its application costs. Moreover, the UnderDril mud is composed of biodegradable ingredients, that results in a beneficial effect on the possibility of its utilization and simultaneously makes it hazardous free for the environment. The conducted research showed that the abovementioned mud can find an industrial application.

While drilling a well using rotary drilling method with drilling mud application, permeability damage of aquifer layers in near-well zone takes place. It is caused mainly by inflow of both solid phase and filtrate originated from the mud into pores or fractures of drilled rock. In consequence of this phenomenon, pressure drawdown increase and well hydraulic efficiency decrease can be observed, what leads to exploitation capacity diminution. For the reparation of formation damaged permeability in near-well zone, new agent for disintegration of clay minerals called SKINAUT was developed at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH-UST Krakow. In order to confirm its effectiveness in industrial conditions, it was conducted test of well activation for water intake from loose formation. Applied agent allowed to counteract the clogging of pore spaces and to reduce the hydraulic resistance of well thereby decreasing pressure drawdown and considerably improving well efficiency.

A major source of valued water are groundwater deposits. Therefore, constantly growing water demand requires greater focus on the subject of hydrogeological drilling. The primary requirements for groundwater drilling are: protection of important aquifers as well as formations being drilled and further easy removal of the mud residues during well development. Both aspects are connected to mud ingredients and additives selection. This necessitates an improvement of drilling fluid formula for most effective borehole drilling and successive exploitation. This article concentrates on the drilling fluid for hydrogeological drilling. In order to validate the practical utility of developed mud, laboratory research was conducted. An analyses of the outcomes expose the mud improving drilling process and fulfilling above mentioned requirements

The article describes issue of clay hydration phenomenon during Horizontal Directional Drilling. Reducing hydration, hence swelling, is a great concern in light of borehole wall stability maintenance. Muds commonly used for drilling by abovementioned technique are often blend of unknown ingredients. Thus, it should be carefully tested for addition of hydration inhibitors at the early stage of mud formula preparation. The paper includes research formula and results of technological parameters of modified HDD mud. Moreover, there were conducted tests of QSE Pellets swelling and linear swelling of test samples collected from boreholes drilled by HDD technique.

Opis:
During drilling through aquifers using the rotary drilling method with drilling fluid application, the phenomenon of formation clogging in near-well zone takes place. This leads to physical changes in pore spaces in consequence of the deposition solid phase particles originating from the drilling fluid. Due to this fact, filtration velocity in the clogged zones of the aquifer formation decreases, which results in increased pressure drawdown and decreased well hydraulic efficiency. Therefore, it causes a reduction of the well total capacity. The article consists of studies connected to the development of the mud which will constitute the basis for a complex mud system intended for hydrogeological drilling in different encountered geological conditions. In the framework of laboratory research, technological parameters of six, commonly applied in oil and gas industry, polymer agents as well as new agent developed at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty AGH-UST in Krakow were examined. The undertaken studies showed that the new agent, marked as CAGEx, provides the required technological parameters and can be applied as a base for drilling muds intended for hydrogeological drilling. The undertaken industrial research of the new CAGEx drilling mud carried out while drilling water intake well, confirmed the great stability of its technological parameters as well as insignificant influence on rock permeability damage in filter zone. The water intake well is characterized by high hydraulic efficiency and does not require additional activation treatment.
W trakcie udostępniania użytkowych poziomów wodonośnych metodami obrotowymi z wykorzystaniem płuczki wiertniczej zachodzi proces kolmatacji skał w strefie przyotworowej. Prowadzi on do fizycznych zmian ośrodka porowatego w wyniku osadzania się w nim cząstek fazy stałej z płuczki wiertniczej. Powoduje to zmniejszenie prędkości filtracji wody w zakolmatowanych partiach formacji wodonośnej, co skutkuje wzrostem depresji i obniżeniem sprawności hydraulicznej studni, a w konsekwencji obniżeniem całkowitej wydajności studni. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań laboratoryjnych nad opracowaniem płuczki wiertniczej, która stanowić będzie bazę do opracowania kompletnego systemu płuczkowego przeznaczonego do wiercenia otworów hydrogeologicznych w różnych warunkach geologicznych. Wykonane badania przemysłowe nowej płuczki wiertniczej CAGEx, podczas wiercenia studni ujęciowej potwierdzają dużą stabilność jej parametrów technologicznych i niewielki wpływ na uszkodzenie przepuszczalności skał w strefie przyfiltrowej. Wykonana studnia ujęciowa charakteryzowała się wysoką sprawnością hydrauliczną i nie wymagała wykonania dodatkowych zabiegów uaktywniania.

Opis:
While reconstructing partially exploited boreholes located in south-eastern part of Poland there were several issues. Standard procedures were not efficient enough to fulfil the requirements for fluid to work properly. This enforced investor to turn to the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas AGH UST Krakow for assistance in developing special formula for working fluid. Major requirements set for reconstruction fluid were to: inhibit hydration of loam rocks, reduce corrosion of casing and tubing and decrease filtrate loss which maintained at a high level. Therefore, the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas AGH UST Krakow developed and compared various reconstruction fluids' formulas to eliminate encountered complications. The article also concentrates on studying the samples collected from the borehole and presents conclusions based on laboratory tests. Analyses of the research results expose best working solution for eliminating the issues that came across during reconstruction of the borehole.
