Opis:
Analysis of possibilities to reduce the risks of groundwater pollution resulting from operating of the modernized sanitary landfi ll. The paper presents the analysis of the remedial works which should be urgently taken to reduce the negative environmental impacts of the sanitary landfi ll and to allow to continue its further operation. The remedial works on the old landfi ll consist of technical and biological solutions aimed mainly at eliminating of groundwater degradation process and protection of surroundings against pollution. The proposed solutions, related to environment protection will enable to continue operation of the landfi ll for the next few years. The paper also presents the verifi - cation of the scope of the local monitoring to control of the water quality on surroundings as well as for effectiveness assessment of remedial works.

Opis:
W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki badań eksperymentalnych procesu spalania węgla kamiennego z różnymi rodzajami biomasy, w postaci kulistych brykietów, stanowiących mieszankę paliwową. Celem badań było ustalenie oddziaływania udziału biomasy w paliwie i jego uwęglenia na emisję spalin, powstałych podczas procesu współspalania paliw w strumieniu powietrza. Do przeprowadzenia badań wykorzystano rotalno–uniformalny plan badań PS/DS-P:λ (λ), który dzięki równoczesnej odpowiedniej zmianie przyjętych wejściowych parametrów procesu umożliwił uchwycenie interakcji między nimi. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników badań stwierdzono, że istnieje możliwość wyznaczenia udziału danego rodzaju biomasy w mieszance paliwowej z węglem kamiennym, wpływającego na optymalną wartość emisji NOx i SO2 w procesie współspalania.
The experimental results of hard coal and biomass co-combustion are presented in the paper. The aim of research was to explain the influence of biomass and carbon participation in fuel-mixture (in briquette form) on NOx and SO2 emission during fuels co-combustion in air. The “rotal” and “uniformall” schedule PS/DS-P:λ (λ) was used in the research. The analysis of results showed that it is the optimal participation of different types biomass in fuel-mixture (biomass and hard coal) on the values of NOx and SO2 emission during co-combustion of hard coal and biomass.

Opis:
The article presents a detailed characterization of the ionization process taking place inside a miniature MEMS-type ion-sorption vacuum pump, based on the Penning pump architecture. Influence of a variety of parameters on the discharge current has been investigated. These include: magnetic field, type of material used for the electrodes as well as horizontal and vertical dimensions of the micropump. It was found that the micropump works efficiently as long as the magnetic field is higher than 0.3 T, and the pumping cell’s dimensions exceed 1x1x1 mm3. Best results have been obtained for copper and aluminum cathodes and low resistivity silicon anodes.

Celem pracy prezentowanej w artykule było określenie wpływu wielkości dodatku, rodzaju oraz układu zastosowanych hydrokoloidów na stabilność niskotłuszczowych emulsji. Przebadano emulsje tłuszczowe oznaczając lepkość, rozkład i średnią wielkość cząstek. Określono współczynnik dyspersji. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono że emulsje zawierające 3% skrobi z tapioki do gotowania (National Frigex firmy National Starch & Chemical) i 2% skrobi z tapioki do gotowania (Textra firmy National Starch & Chemical) oraz emulsję o składzie 3% skrobi z tapioki do gotowania (National Frigex firmy National Starch & Chemical) i 2% białkowego zamiennika tłuszczu (Simplesse 100 firmy CP Kelco) wykazały największą stabilność.
The aim of this work was to determine the influence of the size of the addition and the kind of hydrocolloids on the stability of low-fatemulsions. Viscosity, dispersion and the average particle size of the emulsion were determined. As well the coefficient of dispersion was given. It was noticed that the emulsions with (3% starch of National Frigex firmy National Starch & Chemical and 2% starch of Textra firmy National Starch & Chemical))as well(3% starch of National Frigex firmy National Starch & Chemical and 2% starch of Simplesse 100 firmy CP Kelco) had the extremely stability.

Doubled haploid lines of carrot can be obtained through androgenesis in anther cultures and in isolated microspore cultures. The two methods were compared using three carrot cultivars (‘Kazan F1’, ‘Feria F1’, and ‘Narbonne F1’) at the androgenesis induction stage, during plant regeneration from embryos, and during acclimatization of androgenetic plants as well as their characterization. It was found that cultivar was the main factor affecting the efficiency at each stage of plant production in both anther and isolated microspore cultures. The efficiency of androgenesis in anther cultures of ‘Feria F1’ was considerably higher in comparison with isolated microspore cultures, and more plants were obtained from the embryos of androgenesis-cultured plants. In ‘Kazan F1’ and ‘Narbonne F1’, more acclimatized androgenetic plants were produced from anther cultures. Ploidy assessment of acclimatized plants of ‘Narbonne F1’ showed that the majority of the plants in the population derived from anther cultures had a doubled chromosome (DH) set. On the other hand, the majority of plants obtained from isolated microspore cultures were haploids. When assessing homozygosity, it was found among plants obtained in anther cultures that the percentage of homozygotes for phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI) and aspartate aminotransferase (AAT) depended on the cultivar. In contrast, the majority of plants derived from isolated microspore cultures were homozygous regardless of cultivar.

New palynostratigraphical data concerning the Carboniferous sedimentary succession of SW Poland has been obtained from the Czerńczyce IG 1 borehole and the Brońsko boreholes on the northern slope of the Wolsztyn-Leszno High, where the oldest rocks were expected. The miospore assemblages recovered from the Czerńczyce IG 1 borehole allowed assignment of the interval studied to the Marsdenian (Namurian B) and Yeadonian (Namurian C). These results, supplemented with previous palynostratigraphical data, refute the existence of a stratigraphic gap between the early Namurian and Duckmantian (Westphalian B). The reinterpretation of the unpublished miospore results of Górecka et al. (2000b, 2001a) from the Carboniferous rocks from the Brońsko boreholes, also indicate that they should actually be assigned to the upper Marsdenian and Yeadonian. All analysed miospore assemblages are mixed and contain abundant reworked specimens. The results above complement previous opinions and permit a re-evaluation of the stratigraphy of the Carboniferous siliciclastic succession of SW Poland. Its sedimentation was certainly initiated in the earliest Namurian or earlier and probably lasted without long gaps until the Stephanian. The abundance and common occurence of reworked miospores indicate the age of rocks eroded during Carboniferous deposition. The lithological and palynofacial features of the late Namurian rocks from the Czerńczyce IG 1 borehole may be interpreted as a record of the shallowing of the sedimentary basin, including the possibility that some of the sedimentation occured in continental conditions. This means that the transition from the deep marine environment to shallow-water or even continental habitats likely had already taken place by the late Namurian. This suggestion, together with the tectonic deformation dated as post-Bolsovian, corresponds to the timing of the deposition and deformation in the German part of the Variscan Foreland Basin.

The paper presents the possibilities of applying one of the multi-criteria assessment methods (the development measure method) in the processes of multi-variant design of technical and organizational solutions on the example of selecting equipment for a newly designed mine working in a hard coal mine. Using the case study, the authors proposed an alternative solution for decision-making problems in mining companies in relation to solutions based solely on unit costs of coal mining. The case study is preceded by the presentation of general principles regarding cost accounting in mining companies as well as the use of multi-criteria assessments.

Modern manufacturing entities often operate in capital groups, and their role is sometimes limited to the function of cost centers. From the legal point of view, however, they are separate entities obliged to apply transfer pricing regulations. Meeting the requirements of the arm's length principle can be very difficult at this time, given the relationships and conflicts of interest in the capital group. Complexity increases in capital groups operating in different countries, due to differences in tax regulations. The main purpose of the paper is to demonstrate that the need to valuate the sale of finished goods to a manufacturing entity, which is a subject to a different tax jurisdiction, may lead to a problem of compliance with the arm's length principle. In addition, the paper proposes a methodology for comparability analysis that may be used by manufacturing entities to defend conditions of setting transfer pricing. The paper presents the different functional profiles of manufacturing entities and points out the difficulties that they may encounter when preparing the comparability analysis. It has also been noted that there are differences in transfer pricing regulations in different countries, for example by analyzing Polish and Czech regulations. The lack of uniform benchmarking legislation can cause inconsistencies in the selection of comparable data, resulting in differences in transfer pricing. The paper uses the method of legal regulation review and analysis of results of published studies concerning the scope of transfer pricing and comparability analysis. The paper also adopts a case study analysis.

Opis:
Transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction proved chain ladder incommensurate single crystal structure of investigated samples. The incommensurate ratio was determined from the X-ray and electron diffraction being equal to 0.704. Diffuse scattering intensities localised on the planes perpendicular to the c*-axis and passing through the spots originating from the periodicity of chain sublattice were detected. High-angle grain boundary or twinning formed by rotation of 33.3° around [100] direction was observed. High-resolution electron microscopy images revealed the stacking faults in ac planes.

Opis:
The concept of a miniature transmission electron microscope (TEM) on chip is presented. This idea assumes manufacturing of a silicon-glass multilayer device that contains a miniature electron gun, an electron optics column integrated with a high vacuum micropump, and a sample microchamber with a detector. In this article the field emission cathode, utilizing carbon nanotubes (CNT), and an electron optics column with Einzel lens, made of silicon, are both presented. The elements are assembled with the use of a 3D printed polymer holder and tested in a vacuum chamber. Effective emission and focusing of the electron beam have been achieved. This is the first of many elements of the miniature MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) transmission electron microscope that must be tested before the whole working system can be manufactured.
