    Opis:
    Among the posttranslational modifications of proteins, glycosylation is probably the most abundant one. Two main types of protein glycosylation have been known for several years, namely N-glycosylation and O-glycosylation. Their biochemical properties, structure and biosynthesis, have been described extensively. Their biological functions are also known for a number of proteins, although in many cases the function remains speculative despite continuous efforts. A few years ago, a new type of protein glycosylation was found, which is different from the above-mentioned ones. It was called C-glycosylation, since the sugar is linked to the protein through a carbon-carbon bond. This article reviews the biochemistry of C-glycosylation, the biosynthetic pathway and structural requirements. Possible biological functions of this modification are also discussed.

    So far only little data have been available concerning the eliciting capacity of well defined glycan molecules isolated from plant pathogens. This study brings new information about changes in plant cells caused by fungal pathogens. Sugar fractions derived from glycoproteins isolated from the fungus Fusarium sp. M7-1 have been tested here as signaling molecules. The ability of three O-glycan fractions (named in this work inducer I, II, III) to trigger responses in Rubus protoplasts has been examined. It was found that inducer III was the most efficient as it elicited changes in the levels of phenylpropanoid pathway intermediates in relation to phenylalanine-ammonia lyase (PAL) activation.

    Opis:
    The term “proprioception” is defined as the conduction of sensory information deriving from proprioceptors that have an impact on conscious sensations, posture and trans-segmental sense. An ACL injury may lead to functional knee joint instability. According to research, this may result in impaired movement sensation and joint position. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the joint position sense (JPS) in patients before arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and 5 months after the surgery. The examinations were conducted in a group of twelve specifically selected male patients. The examination procedure consisted of JPS measurement in both lower limbs (the operated and the healthy one) during active extension in a range of angles: 30, 45, 60°. The level of significance was: p < 0.05. The analysis of variance performed for repeated measurements (ANOVA) did not indicate any statistically significant differences of JPS in comparisons made between the operated and the healthy limb. Statistical values for the absolute, relative, and variable errors were p = 0.7684, p = 0.1546, p = 0.5694 respectively. The obtained results do not indicate any limitation of proprioception in patients with ACL injury before the intervention or half a year later.

    Celem artykułu jest ustalenie zakresu konstytucyjnych uprawnień Prezydenta Federa-cji Rosyjskiej oraz przybliżenie zagadnień odnoszących się do posiadanych przez gło-wę państwa kompetencji względem władzy ustawodawczej, wykonawczej, sądowniczej, także względem narodu oraz tych, które według ustawy zasadniczej uznawane są jako tzw. „inne”. Kolejnym celem jest potrzeba zbadania, czy wszelkie przyznane Prezyden-towi kompetencje są wykorzystywane zgodnie z przeznaczeniem oraz czy istnieje po-trzeba zmiany zakresu przyznanych uprawnień, a jeśli tak to czy należy je poszerzyć czy zawęzić. Treść artykułu odpowiada na pytania związane z powyższymi kwestiami oraz pozwala wyciągnąć wnioski, iż szeroki zakres kompetencji Prezydenta wskazuje niewąt-pliwe na jego nadrzędną pozycję względem pozostałych władz, a ilość oraz ranga posia-danych przez głowę państwa uprawnień wykraczają poza klasyczny model systemu se-miprezydenckiego.
    The aim of the article is to determine the scope of constitutional rights of the President of the Russian Federation and to bring issues related to the competences held by the head of the state in relation to the legislative, executive, and judiciary authorities, including the nation and those that are considered by the Constitution as so-called “other”. An-other goal is to investigate whether all competences granted to the President are used as intended and whether there is a need to change the scope of the rights granted, and if so, whether they should be extended or narrowed. The content of the article answers questions related to the above issues and allows to draw conclusions that the President’s wide range of powers undoubtedly determines his superior position in relation to other authorities, and the number and rank of powers held by the head of the state go beyond the classical model of the semipresidential system.
