Analysis results of lithium chloride concentrations, which were measured during tracer test performed in wastewater treatment (WWT) plant placed in Kędzierzyn–Koźle, Poland, are presented in the paper. The considered WWT plant operates with a five-stage Bardenpho system for organic content reduction within activated sludge process (ASP). One of the significant factors, which have an impact on the efficiency of the ASP in a biological reactor, is its hydraulic behavior. In this study theoretical and actual retention times were determined by using of mathematical modeling. Three single and multistream dispersion models were applied, i.e. Tanks-in-Series, Extended Tanks-in-Series and a model based on the MARTIN method. Using the last model it was possible to identify multiple wastewater flows in the reactors, which include: main flow and short circuiting flows. Furthermore, it was stated that the theoretical retention times differ from the actual values, obtained through mathematical modeling.

A computer simulation model for the Activated Sludge Process (ASP) of a wastewater treatment plant (WWT) is presented in this paper. The model is based on non-linear equations, which depend on wastewater concentration and flow, which values vary with time. The proposed ASM1R3 model is a reduced version of the common ASM1 model due to the fact it involves only three state variables: Ss –the dissolved biodegradable organic substrate, SNO – the dissolved nitrate nitrogen and SNH – the dissolved ammonia nitrogen. In an experimental verification the model was considered as well fitted to empirical data. The proposed model is characterized by relatively low computational complexity and can be successfully applied as integral part of the overriding control systems of the WWT plant. As a result of conducted studies it was found that it is possible to apply the ASM1R3 model to optimize and improve the WWT process parameters of the regarded plant.

The aim of the research works, results of which are presented in this paper, was to determine the feasibility and to indicate the application scope of optical method in the diagnosis of high-voltage (HV) long rod insulators. Diagnosis of technical condition of HV insulators is critical, because the insulation system undergoes aging processes, which cause deterioration of the insulating properties. The measurements were performed during test under laboratory conditions using an UV camera. Corona partial discharges occurring on the long rod insulator were registered, while the supply voltage value was increased. The presented analyses consider dependencies of the supply voltage value on the count number of UV photons emitted by partial discharges occurring in long rod insulator made of porcelain.

The performed research works consider diagnosis of different models of support and bushing insulators. Insulator systems undergo aging processes, which causes deterioration of the insulating properties. In addition, pollutants that accumulate on the surface of high voltage insulators cause further reduction of the insulation properties. Presence of pollutants and high humidity level cause formation of conductive paths, which acts as a source of partial discharges. Presented results depict optical signals, recorded by ultraviolet camera, which were emitted by surface partial discharges occurring on different insulator models. In particular, the effect of the relative value of camera sensitivity on the number of surface partial discharges counts was evaluated. In addition, analysis of the effect of the surface partial discharges generation time on registered counts number was made. The experiments were performed at a constant voltage of $0.9U_{p}$ and for a distance between the HV electrode and GND equal to 10 cm. The experimental study lasted over a period of 30 min, while the measurement steps were done every minute.

The paper presents results of research works whose aim was to determine and indicate characteristics of optical signals emitted by corona discharges occurring in the vicinity of two types of high-voltage (HV) cap insulators. The experimental studies were performed under laboratory conditions using an ultraviolet (UV) camera. Two types of cap insulators were analyzed: one made of glass and the second one made of porcelain. For both considered insulating devices, the influence of supply voltage on the intensity of optical radiation was determined. The obtained results were analyzed and compared. Based on the results, it was stated that both cap insulators indicated similar characteristics but the most significant difference lied in the existence of the punch-through on the glass cap.

Results of measurements of optical radiation emitted by partial and complete electrical discharges occurring on a bushing insulator model placed in air are presented in the article. Registration was performed using a spectrophotometer, enabling for measurement of optical radiation in the range from 270 to 1700 nm. Detailed characteristics of spectrophotometer are presented in our previous paper. The primary objective of the laboratory tests was to evaluate the impact of supply voltage changes in the range from 0 to 0.99 $U_{b}$ (breakdown voltage) on the intensity and spectral character of the optical radiation emitted by partial discharges generated on the porcelain insulation surface of the bushing insulator. In the scope of studies analyzes of the effects of voltage changes on the obtained spectral waveforms were performed, whereby voltage increase and reduction was examined separately. Additionally, measurements and analyzes carried out included impact estimation of the time period as the voltage was applied to the high-voltage electrodes on the course of optical phenomena related to the generation of partial discharges.

Subject of the paper concerns determination of the feasibility and indication of the application scope of optical spectroscopy methods in the diagnosis of high-voltage insulators. Results of measurements of optical radiation emitted by partial and complete electrical discharges occurring on a support insulator model placed in air are presented in the paper. Registration was performed using a spectrophotometer, enabling for measurement of optical radiation in the range from 200 to 1800 nm. The primary objective of the laboratory tests was to evaluate the impact of supply voltage changes in the range from 0 to 60 kV on the intensity and spectral character of the optical radiation emitted by electric discharges generated on the porcelain insulation surface of the support insulator. In the scope of studies analyzes of the effects of voltage changes on the obtained spectral wave forms were performed, whereby voltage increase and reduction was examined separately. Additionally, measurements and analyzes carried out included impact estimation of the time period as the voltage was applied to the high-voltage electrodes on the course of optical phenomena related to the generation of electrical discharges.

Podobciążeniowe przełączniki zaczepów (PPZ) są jednym z głównych elementów transformatora, który zapewnia możliwość regulacji napięcia w sieci elektroenergetycznej. Ich awarie są częstą przyczyną wyłączeń transformatorów rozdzielczych. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki prac naukowo-badawczych mających na celu scharakteryzowanie sygnałów emisji akustycznej (EA) generowanych przez PPZ o konstrukcji z osobnym wybierakiem i przełącznikiem mocy. Zaletą metody EA jest możliwość wykonywania pomiarów w warunkach normalnej pracy urządzenia. Badania przeprowadzono w warunkach laboratoryjnych. Analizę sygnałów EA przeprowadzono w dziedzinie czasu i czasowo-częstotliwościowej. Ocenę składowych czasowo-częstotliwościowych przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem krótkoczasowej transformaty Fouriera (STFT) i ciągłej (CWT) transformaty falkowej.
An important part of an electric power transformer is the on load tap changer (OLTC) which enables voltage regulation in the network. Due to high level of failure frequency of these devices, it is necessarily to look for new diagnostic methods which enable their technical state estimation under transformer normal operating conditions. Presently at the Electric Power Institute of the Opole University of Technology there are works in progress aspiring to determine the application possibility of the AE method for OLTC diagnosis. Results of the research works aiming at characterizing the acoustic emission (AE) signals generated by the OLTC constructed from a separated selector and a power switch are presented in the paper. Measurements were taken in a setup with a model of the OLTC type VEL - 110 - 27 from ELIN as the main element. AE signals generated during the whole OLTC joining cycle are presented. Within the signal there were enhanced four characteristic acoustic structures which regard to succeeding stages of the joining process. The AE signals generated by the selector and power switch were analyzed in detail. The analysis of time-frequency components of the signals generated by the OLTC was carried out with the short time Fourier transform (STFT) and con-tinuous wavelet transform (CWT). Based on the comparison of the AE signals generated by the power changer and the selector, two measuring paths endowed with wide band contact transducers were proposed for practical application.

Tematyka artykułu dotyczy określenia możliwości i wskazania zakresu zastosowania w diagnostyce izolatorów liniowych i stacyjnych kamery rejestrującej promieniowanie ultrafioletowe. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów promieniowania ultrafioletowego emitowanego przez wyładowania niezupełne powierzchniowe generowane na modelu izolatora przepustowego umieszczonego w powietrzu. W ramach przeprowadzonych badań dokonano analizy wpływu szeregu czynników metrologicznych na uzyskiwane wyniki.
The scope of this paper considers possibility determination and application area indication of a camera for ultraviolet radiation recor-ding in diagnosis of linear isolators. Measurement results of ultraviolet radiation emitted by surface partial discharges (SPDs) generated on a bushing isolator mounted in the air are presented in the paper. Recording was performed by use a professional UVollé camera by the firm OFIL which enables for ultraviolet radiation measurement in the range of 50 nm to 280 nm. The main aim of works, performed under laboratory conditions, was to estimate the influence of supply voltage value changes in the range of 0 to 0.98 Up (breakdown voltage) on the counting quantity of partial discharges occurring on the surface of the ceramic bushing isolator. Moreover, the measurements and analyses performed, enclosed the influence estimation of the duration time of voltage applied to high tension electrodes, on the optical phenomena progress connected with SPDs generation. In the scope of works executed also the influence analyses of the distance between electrodes as well parameters of camera applied (sensitivity, amplification and size of the counting window) on the achieved results were investigated. Additionally, a comparative analysis of measurements results achieved for two diameters of the metal electrode (refill) for bushing isolator model was performed.

Opis:
Possibilities of application of the acoustic method for the on load tab changers diagnosis has been presented in the paper. The analysis of measurement results gathered during research works performed under laboratory conditions has been presented in detail. The registered acoustic signals have been analyzed in time and time-frequency domains. The time domain analysis has been performed by presentation of time runs and their envelopes determined by use of the Hilbert transform. Evaluation of the time-frequency components has been performed by use of the short-time Fourier transform, the discrete and the continuous wavelet transforms.

The paper presents some observations of ultrasound induced cavitation phenomenon in a mineral insulating oil. The acoustic cavitation phenomenon was generated at different signal frequencies and rms voltage value supplied to round piezoelectric transducers. Used transducers have created a high energy acoustic field in prepared insulating oil samples. The acoustic emission signal contains a broad-band noise and a fundamental frequency component and its harmonics, produced by the direct driving acoustic field. The paper presents the spectral analysis of acoustic emission signal observed during acoustic cavitation in insulating oils. To emphasize the changes in acoustic cavitation intensity also time-frequency analysis was used and some spectrograms were evaluated. The measurement uncertainty of some frequency-rms voltage pairs was very unfavorable. The main application expected with created cavitation measurement system is to develop a diagnostic tool for the aging of oil, based on the hypothesis that the measured cavitation intensity and spectrum could be affected by aging. Previous published measurements showed some relationship between insulating oil aging process and changes of acoustic emission of cavitations.

The subject area of the paper concerns determination of possibility and application scope suggestion for the optical spectrophotometry method in the linear isolators diagnosis. Measurements results of the optical radiation emitted by partial discharges generated on a model of bushing isolator, which was placed in the air, are presented in the paper. Recording was done by use of a spectrophotometer that enabled for measurement of optical radiation in the range from 250 to 1700 nm. The main aim of laboratory research works performed was to estimate the influence of the supply voltage value changes in range from 0 to 60 kV on the intensity and character of the optical radiation spectrum emitted by surface partial discharges occurring on the ceramic insulating surface of the bushing isolator. In the scope of research works, analysis of voltage value changes influence on the gathered spectra was performed while its accretion and decrease was investigated. Furthermore, the measurements and analysis performed enclose the influence estimation of the time, when the voltage was attached to the high voltage electrode, on the proceeding of the optical phenomena connected with generation of surface partial discharges. In addition a comparative analysis of measurements results gathered for two designed and implemented models of bushing insulators, which differ in geometric dimensions, was performed.

Paper presents definition of a mathematical model describing acoustic emission signals generated by partial discharges occurring in oil immersed electric power transformers. Time runs, power spectral density graphs and spectrograms of acoustic emission signals generated in experiments, performed under laboratory conditions, and of equivalent signals, calculated on the basis of the mathematical model, are presented. Furthermore, results of numerical simulations of acoustic pressure distribution inside a tank filled with insulation oil are presented in the paper. In the center of the tank acoustic emission wave sources were placed, each generating signals described by the model developed.
