    The study summarises the analysis of reliability assessment of measurements of a selected critical property of a high-precision casting product. Measurement data must be sufficiently reliable to be used in decision-making relating to quality control and the selection of the casting manufacturing technology. The applied procedure is illustrated by study of the variability range of readouts depending on the measurement conditions, obtained by the computer methods. The applied R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) procedure is major component of the widely employed Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

    Opis:
    The study investigates the key aspects involved in the flow of the air-sand stream from the machine chamber and in the core box filling in the core shooting and core blowing processes. The prevailing tendency to manufacture thin-walled castings with intricate channel structures has become the major determinant of castings quality and production rates. An important parameter of most core sand used in the shooting processes is the ability to eject from the machine chamber and the core-box filling capability. These properties are the key factors determining the feasibility of manufacturing intricate cores and the process efficiency. The research work outlined in this study focuses on establishing the performance criteria of core sand ejection from the machine chamber and of core box filling and sand compaction. The results given below were obtained for several new-generation core sand types, containing organic and inorganic binders, and designed to be used in hot-box, warm box and warm air processes.
    W publikacji przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z wypływem strumienia piaskowo-powietrznego z komory nabojowej i zapełnianiem rdzennicy metodami dmuchowymi z wykorzystaniem strzelarek i nadmuchiwarek. Tendencja do konstrukcji odlewów o coraz cieńszych ściankach i skomplikowanych kanałach, sprawia, że produkcja wysokiej jakości rdzeni jest nadal czynnikiem determinujacym jakość oraz wydajność produkcji odlewów. Ważnymi właściwościami ogółu mas rdzeniowych stosowanych w procesach dmuchowych jest ewakuacja masy z komory nabojowej maszyny dmuchowej oraz zdolność do zapełniania i zagęszczania masy w rdzennicy. Właściwości te, decydują często o możliwosci wykonania skomplikowanych rdzeni oraz o efektywności procesu technologicznego. Przedstawione badania dotyczą ustalenia kryteriów oceny ewakuacji masy z komory nabojowej oraz zdolność do wypełniania rdzennicy i zagęszczania kilku nowoczesnych mas formierskich, zarówno organicznych jak i nieorganicznych, pochodzących technologii hot box, warm box, warm air.

    The purpose of the present study is to demonstrate that environmental impacts exerted by manufactured products throughout their entire life cycle are major aspects to be considered, alongside their functional features and cost-effectiveness. One of the available methods to evaluate environmental impacts is known to as the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. The study summarises the reports from the literature on the subject of environmental impact assessment. In conclusions, the authors indicate the need for assessing the environmental impact of cast products made from conventional and newly introduced alloys.

    Opis:
    The rationalization of construction and vibro- fluidised bed coolers and turbine (rotary) mixers, allows for keep sufficiently high quality and increasing their utility values. This concerns optimization of construction and operation to increase the efficiency of their work. The presented research results illustrate a range of the work designed primarily to supplement theoretical foundations of realized processes in industrial devices, including the topics vibro- fluidization , evaporative cooling and refreshing mixing. Presented results concern the investigation of the industrial devices, which is difficult in the practical accomplishment. The part of testing was conducted in real terms of the functioning devices in the industry.
    Racjonalizacja konstrukcji i eksploatacji chłodziarek wibrofluidyzacyjnych oraz mieszarek wirnikowych pozwala na utrzymywanie odpowiednio wysokiej ich jakości i zwiększanie ich walorów użytkowych. Dotyczy to optymalizacji konstrukcji i eksploatacji urządzeń celem zwiększenia efektywności ich pracy. Prezentowane wyniki badań ilustrują zakres prowadzonych prac mających przede wszystkim na celu uzupełnienie podstaw teoretycznych realizowanych procesów, w tym o zagadnienia wibrofluidyzacji, chłodzenia wyparnego i mieszania odświeżającego. Zaprezentowane wyniki dotyczą, trudnych w realizacji praktycznej badań urządzen przemysłowych. Część badań przeprowadzono w rzeczywistych warunkach pracy urządzeń w przemyśle.

    W artykule opisano dalsze prace związane z rozszerzeniem funkcjonalności rejestratora wartości chwilowych napięć i prądów przeznaczonego do monitorowania pracy urządzeń odlewniczych zasilanych z sieci elektroenergetycznej jedno- lub trójfazowej. W ich ramach opracowano i wdrożono odpowiednie algorytmy obliczeniowe wzbogacające oprogramowanie przyrządu. Do analizy chwilowych przebiegów napięcia i prądu wykorzystano podawane w literaturze syntetyczne wskaźniki charakteryzujące wyżej wymienione przebiegi.
    The article describes further work related to the extension of functionality of instantaneous values recorder of voltages and currents designed to monitor of the foundry devices operation. Such devices can be supplied from the single or three-phase power grid. In this framework the appropriate computational algorithms have been developed and implemented. It has enriched the device software. For analysis of instantaneous voltage and current values have been used synthetic indicators characterizing the above-mentioned waveforms (reported in the technical literature).

    The article presents conclusions drawn from analysis and research conducted in domestic foundries concerning currently used core shop equipment as well as determination of their needs within this area. Works within mechanization of core making process, conducted together by Ferro-Masz company, Łódź and Faculty of Foundry Engineering of AGH, Kraków, included analysis of available technologies, applied materials and requirements for mechanization of core making process with the use of blowing methods. Commercial offers from manufacturers of core making systems has been discussed together with presentation of own solution of universal core shooting/blowing machine, ensuring production of high-quality cores.

    W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie wyposażenia prototypowego, mikroprocesorowego systemu monitorowania elektrycznych układów zasilania maszyn i urządzeń odlewniczych w moduł analizy harmonicznej (bazujący na szybkiej transformacji Fouriera FFT). W zarysie omówiono zagadnienie analizy harmonicznej jako narzędzia do oceny pracy napędów elektrycznych oraz wpływ występowania harmonicznych na pracę sieci elektroenergetycznej. Przedstawiono przykładową analizę harmoniczną sygnałów zarejestrowanych podczas pracy laboratoryjnej mieszarki krążnikowej w dwóch wariantach układu zasilania: bez kompensacji i z kompensacją mocy biernej.
    The article presents the problem of implementation of harmonic analysis module (based on FFT) in the prototype microprocessor system for monitoring electrical supply systems for foundry machines and equipment. In outline, the issue of harmonic analysis as a tool for evaluation of the electric drives and the impact of the presence of harmonics on the operation of network have been discussed. An example of harmonic analysis of the signals recorded during operation of laboratory roller mixer in two variants of supply system: without compensation and reactive power compensation has been described.

    The paper presents the topics related with the production of small and medium-sized cores by means of blowing methods. The basic information concerning the manufacturers of the blowing machines and the general characteristics of machines offered by them are presented. The basic design of blowing machines are presented with discussions of the theoretical works of Boenisch, Axionov and J. Dańko determining important from the technology point of view sand and air flow parameters including different methods of core box filling factors and the factor eV representing the sand ability to evacuate from the shooting chamber.

    Opis:
    Mechanization of the process of core making with the use of inorganic and organic binders is based, almost solely, on core blowing machines. Presently the core blowing machines are equipped with tools and devices that allow for application of different technologies of core making. Cold-box, hot-box and warm-air technologies require that core blowing machines shall be additionally equipped with either core-box pre-heating system or gas purging and neutralization system, or hot air purging systems. Considering the possibility of using varied, the most advantageous technologies of core making, the production of universal core blowing machines equipped with replaceable devices has been undertaken in Poland. The universal core blowing systems allow for mechanization of core making process also with the use of sand, bonded by modern, eco-friendly binder systems. The paper presents selected results-based evaluation of core blowing process showing the scope of conducted design and implementation works.
