Opis:
Currently in the world to gather the branches remaining in orchards and vineyards after the maintenance cuts the conventional presses for straw harvesting are used, specially adapted for this purpose. Treatment pressing for wider spacing of trees is preceded by amassing branches on the row in the middle of the inter-row spacing. This is done by means of various types of rotary swathers. Within the framework of the project EuroPruning in Industrial Institute of Agricultural Engineering (PIMR) in Poznan, Poland it was developed construction of a new tractor unit for windrowing and pressing in round bales branches remaining in the orchards and vineyards after the cuts maintenance. The construction work was carried out using SolidWorks 2013. Developed in PIMR the unit meets the technical requirements of the project. Depending on the version, it consists of branches windrower and baler with fixed chamber on the front three-point linkage or the press along with windrower mounted to it.
Aktualnie na świecie do zbioru gałęzi pozostających w sadach i winnicach po cieciach konserwacyjnych wykorzystywane są specjalnie przystosowane do tego celu konwencjonalne prasy do zbioru słomy. Zabieg prasowania w przypadku szerszych rozstawów drzewek poprzedza sie zgarnianiem gałęzi na rząd w środku międzyrzędzia. Zabieg ten wykonuje sie za pomocą różnego rodzaju zgrabiarek karuzelowych. W ramach realizacji projektu EuroPruning w Przemysłowym Instytucie Maszyn Rolniczych (PIMR) w Poznaniu opracowano konstrukcje nowego agregatu ciągnikowego do zgarniania w wał i prasowania w okrągłe bele gałęzi pozostających w sadach i winnicach po cieciach konserwacyjnych. Prace konstrukcyjne prowadzono wykorzystując oprogramowanie SolidWorks 2013. Agregat opracowany w PIMR spełnia wymogi techniczne zawarte w projekcie. W zależności od wersji, z umieszczonego na przednim trójpunktowym układzie zawieszenia zgarniacza gałęzi i prasy stałokomorowej lub prasy wraz z zamontowanymi do niej zgarniaczami.

AtDeg2 is a chloroplast protein with dual protease/chaperone activity. Since data on how the individual activities of AtDeg2 affect growth and development of Arabidopsis thaliana plants is missing, two transgenic lines were prepared that express mutated AtDeg2 versions that have either only protease or chaperone activity and a comprehensive ontogenesis stage-based study was performed comprising wild type (WT) plants and insertional mutants that do not express AtDeg2, as well as the two transgenic lines. The repression of both AtDeg2 activities in deg2-3 mutants altered just a few phenotypic traits including the time when cotyledons were fully opened, the time when 10% flowers were open as well as the number of inflorescence branches and seed length in plants which have completed their generative development. It was demonstrated that complete opening of cotyledons as well as the number of inflorescence branches and seed length in plants which have completed their generative development required involvement of both AtDeg2 activities, whereas the time when 10% of flowers were open was controlled by AtDeg2 protease activity. These results show for the first time that the chaperone activity of AtDeg2 is needed for some elements of generative development of A. thaliana plants to proceed normally. So far, the chaperone activity of AtDeg2 was confirmed based on in vitro assays only.

Opis:
Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth) possesses several biological properties. Periplaneta americana (cockroach) is a household insect pest that can disseminate pathogens. The present study analyses the chemical constituents of water hyacinth leaf methanol extract and its in vitro effects on antioxidant and esterase enzymes in cockroaches. Water hyacinth methanol extract (WHME) was subjected to gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID). Crude enzyme preparations were obtained from nymph and adult cockroaches. In vitro effects of different concentrations (10–80 μg/ml) of WHME on superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and carboxylesterase (CE) in crude enzyme preparations were spectrophotometrically measured using cypermethrin (CYP) and chlorpyrifos (CPF) as reference insecticides. The GC-FID chromatogram of WHME showed the presence of gallic acid, para-hydroxybenzoic acid, eritosin, gentisic acid, catechin, protocatechuric acid, quercetin, and eugenol. The WHME and CPF reduced catalase in adults and SOD in nymphs, while CYP and CPF reduced SOD activity in the adults of P. americana. GST was significantly increased by WHME in both nymph and adult cockroaches. AChE was reduced by WHME, CYP, and CPF in nymphs, while CE was increased by WHME in nymphs and adults as compared to the control. In conclusion, our study indicates a high phenolic content in the water hyacinth leaf methanol extract, which increased the activities of the antioxidant enzymes AChE and CE in P. americana. The results also show that the efficacy and the mode by which the extracts could induce toxicity depend on the growth stage of the cockroach.

The presence of high Z material adjacent to soft tissue, when submitted to irradiation, enhances locally the absorbed dose in these soft tissues. Such an effect occurs due to the outscattering of photoelectrons from the high Z material. Polymer gel (PG) dosimeters were used to investigate this effect. Analytic calculations to estimate the dose enhancement were performed. Samples containing a polymer gel with 0.005 gAu/gPG and a pure polymer gel were irradiated using an X-ray beam produced by 150 kV, filtered with 4 mm Al and 5 mm Cu, which resulted in an approximately 20% greater absorbed dose in the samples with gold in comparison to those with the pure polymer gel. The analytic calculations resulted in a dose enhancement factor of approximately 30% for the gold concentration of 0.005 gAu/gPG.

The association of phytoplasma was investigated in sand olive [Dodonaea viscosa ssp. Angustifolia (L. f.) J.G. West], cowpea [Vigna unguiclata (L.)] Wap and alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) plants exhibiting witches broom, fasciation and little leaf symptoms, respectively. Sequence analysis of ~1.7 kb DNA fragments amplified by P1/P7 primer set confirmed the association of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma aurantifolia’ within symptomatic alfalfa, while ‘Ca. Phytoplasma cynodontis’ was associated within cowpea and sand olive.

Opis:
Independent Component Analysis (ICA) plays an important role in biomedical engineering. Indeed, the complexity of processes involved in biomedicine and the lack of reference signals make this blind approach a powerful tool to extract sources of interest. However, in practice, only few ICA algorithms such as SOBI, (extended) InfoMax and FastICA are used nowadays to process biomedical signals. In this paper we raise the question whether other ICA methods could be better suited in terms of performance and computational complexity. We focus on ElectroEncephaloGraphy (EEG) data denoising, and more particularly on removal of muscle artifacts from interictal epileptiform activity. Assumptions required by ICA are discussed in such a context. Then fifteen ICA algorithms, namely JADE, CoM2, SOBI, SOBIrob, (extended) InfoMax, PICA, two different implementations of FastICA, ERICA, SIMBEC, FOBIUMJAD, TFBSS, ICAR3, FOOBI1 and 4- CANDHAPc are briefly described. Next they are studied in terms of performance and numerical complexity. Quantitative results are obtained on simulated epileptic data generated with a physiologically-plausible model. These results are also illustrated on real epileptic recordings.

This paper considers the nonlinear dynamics of an electromechanical device with a pendulum arm and a Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES) put on the point of the pendulum suspension. It is shown that the (NES) is capable of absorbing energy from the system. The numerical results are shown in a bifurcation diagram, phase plane, Poincar´e map and Lyapunov exponents.

The objective of this document is to make clear the importance of simplifying the transit of pleasure boats and their skippers safely in the European territory with the foreseeable improvement of the functioning of the internal market. In many European countries recreational skippers are required to have specific training and experience in order to demonstrate their maritime competence. These licenses for navigation allow a recreational vessel to be skippered in each national territory. One of the main objectives of these qualifications is to reduce the number of accidents in recreational boating. Generally speaking, in the European Union, as regards the requirements for the management of pleasure craft, both private and professional, the requirements are very different depending on the member state.

The aim of this paper is to compare two simulation software platforms, AVL BOOSTTM and Ricardo WAVETM as used to simulate HCCI and SI GDI engines with the intention of maximising the engine’s efficiency and minimising the emissions. This paper compares these platforms in an experimentally validated model to analyse a spark ignition and a Homogeneous Compression Ignition Charge (HCCI) single cylinder 4 valve gasoline engines with multiple configurations and running parameters in order to find the most optimal set-up for the engine, with the prospect of allowing an optimum engine to be built and tested in real world conditions without the need for multiple expensive prototypes and long delays.

Thirteen host species belonging to the orders Rodentia, Insectivora and Carnivora from various localities in Galicia (NW Spain) were examined for heart and lung parasites. The following species were found: Parastrongylus dujardini (5.5%) in Apodemus sylvaticus, Crenosoma striatum in Erinaceus europaeus (83%), Angiostrongylus vasorum, Crenosoma vulpis and Eucoleus aerophilus in Vulpes vulpes (3, 3.46 and 0.50%, respectively), Crenosoma taiga in Putorius putorius (100%) and Crenosoma sp. in Meles meles (25%). In Crocidura russula nematode larvae were found (3.3% ). Mus musculus, Rattus norvegicus, Rattus rattus, Talpa caeca, Sorex araneus, Genetta genetta and Canis lupus were not parasitized by lung or heart parasites.

Opis:
The intestinal helminth fauna of 201 specimens of Vulpes vulpes, captured in Galicia (northwest Spain), was investigated. Eight species were found: Toxocara canis (23% of host specimens), Toxocara cali (0.5%), Toxascaris leonina (1%), Uncinaria stenocephala (28%), Seuratascaris numidica (0.5%), Taenia crassiceps (23%), Mesocestoides litteralus (2.5%) and Dipylidium caninum (0.5%). We discuss possible relationships between human population density and the prevalence of infection of fox by intestinal helminths.
