Some application of the established result to copula processes is also presented.

Opis:
The hydrological modeling has become an intensively studied subject in recent years. One of the most significant problems concerning this issue is to provide the mathematical and statistical tools, which allow to forecast extreme hydrological events, such as severe sea or river floodings. The extreme events on water have huge social and economic impact on the affected areas. Due to these reasons, each country has to protect itself against the flood danger, and consequently, the designing of reliable flood defences is of great importance to the safety of the region. For example, the sea dikes along the Dutch coastline are designed to withstand floods, which may occur once every 10 000 years. It means that the height of the dike is determined in such a way that the probability of the event that there is a flood in a given year equals 10-4. The computation of such the height level requires the estimation of the corresponding quantiles of the distributions of certain maxima of sea levels. In our paper, we present the procedures, which lead to the estimation of such the quantiles. We are mainly concerned with the interval estimation; in this context, we present the frequentistic and Bayesian approaches in constructing the desired confidence intervals.

W naszej pracy rozważamy różne podejścia do problematyki jednoczesnego testowania wielu hipotez zerowych. W tym kontekście omawiamy procedury testowania typu single-step, step-down i step-up. W szczególności, przedstawiamy własności i zastosowania takich miar błędów testowania, jak: FWER, k-FWER, FDP, FDR, pFDR. Wspomniane procedury testowania są intensywnie wykorzystywane w analizie mikromacierzy DNA, która to analiza umożliwia monitorowanie poziomów ekspresji wielu genów jednocześnie oraz znajduje ostatnio szerokie zastosowania w diagnostyce, leczeniu i badaniach medycznych.
In our paper, we consider different approaches to the problem of simultaneous testing of many null hypotheses. In this context, we discuss the single-step, the step-down and the step-up procedures of multiple testing. In particular, we are concerned with their properties and applications in the control of the error rates, such as:FW ER, k-FWER, FDP, FDR, pFDR. The mentioned procedures are intensively used in the DNA microarrays analysis, which enables the monitoring of expression levels of many genes simultaneously and is widely applied in recent medical diagnostics, treatment and research.

Most of the so far proposed Bonus–Malus Systems (BMSs) establish a premium only according to the number of accidents, without paying attention to the vehicle damage severity. [Frangos and Vrontos 2001] proposed the optimal BMS design based not only on the number of accidents of a policyholder, but also on the size of loss of each accident. In our work, we apply the approach presented by Frangos and Vrontos to construct the Bayesian confidence intervals for both the number of accidents and the amount of damage caused by these accidents. We also conduct some simulations in order to create tables of estimates for both the numbers and the sizes of losses and to compute the realizations of the corresponding Bayesian confidence intervals. We compare the results obtained by using our simulation studies with the appropriate results derived through an application of an asymmetric loss function and its certain modification.93-104

According to the numerous groups of theoreticians and practitioners, who act in the area of financial markets, changes in the stock prices are random and it is almost infeasible to predict them correctly using historical data. This approach is based on the random walk theory, which states that the price of financial instrument in the subsequent time point is the sum of its price in the previous time point and some random variable with a finite variance, i.e. it is modeled with the use of a stochastic process called a random walk. The random walk hypothesis stands in contradiction to the beliefs of the ordinary technical analysis followers, where the prediction is carried out on the grounds of existing trends, and furthermore, this hypothesis regards such a modeling of financial markets as incorrect. In our work, we construct statistical test for a random walk detection, which is based on the first arcsine law. We also present simulation results that allow to check the quality of the proposed test, as well as we show the application of the introduced test in the stock exchange data analysis.

In our paper, a stochastic model of forecasting of the numer of firms of a given type, acting on the market in a given year, is proposed. The model uses the probabilistic tools of the theory of branching processes. Our approach is an alternative method to the forecasting methods proposed so far, including those based on time series. The theoretical results presented in the paper may be applied in the forecasting of the market position of the firms of a given sector.

INTRODUCTION: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is one of the leading causes of death in developed countries, which is a leading public health problem. Saving endangered human life is a priority task for emergency services around the world. The aim of study was to analysis of OHCA cases for which the Fire Rescue Units (FRU) teams were ordered in situations that meet the criteria of the isolated emergency medical incidents (IEMI). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included a retrospective analysis of calls by Polish FRU to local medical threats over a period of 5 years. The data come from the Decision Support System for Fire Service. Quantitative data were described using classical measures: arithmetic means (M), standard deviations (SD), median (Me) and interquartile ranges (IQR). RESULTS: The total number of OHCA cases included was 94. The mean time between receipt of the IEMI call and arrival on scene was 6 minutes and 22 seconds (IQR = 4). ROSC occurred in 21 patients, which is 22.34% of all cases. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was used in 64 cases (68.09%). The analyzed victims were mostly men (76.59%). The mean age of the victims was 63.06 years (Me = 62 years). CONCLUSIONS:The results of the research are in line with global trends and show the role of early cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Sending FRU to OHCA in the case of non-availability of the EMT in the initial phase of the intervention is justified.

INTRODUCTION: The rescue services which take interventions in the scene of accidents include the Fire Service officers. The tasks of the Fire Service carried out to serve the society include the cooperation with units of the Emergency Medical Services and performance of medical operations. The spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic led to many changes in daily public and private life, in the functioning of institutions, public offices, the healthcare system and the uniformed services. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included a retrospective analysis of departures of Polish fire-fighting units (FFU) for isolated events of medical emergency (IEMEs) in a two-year period: from March 2019 to the end of February 2021 (one year before the pandemic and one year during the pandemic in Poland). The data come from the EWID event recording programme and the Decision-Making Support System of the State Fire Service. The quantitative data were prepared depending on the distribution of the variable: the mean and the standard deviation (if the distribution was normal) and the median and the interquartile range (if the distribution was not normal). RESULTS: The studied period included 5272 events meeting the criteria for inclusion in the analysis. An increase by over 56% was seen in IEMEs in the pandemic year compared to the previous year. The dynamics of the IEME increase are identical to the waves of the pandemic occurring in Poland. A statistically significant correlation (p<0.001, R=0.93) was demonstrated between the number of coronavirus infections and the number of IEMEs in the pandemic period. In 2016, archaeological research was carried out in the crypt under the chancel of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Piaseczno. The article presents the problems related to its exploration. It discusses the fabrics that were found inside. The authors tried to indicate the impact of the functioning Marian Sanctuary on the resources of the church and to associate this fact with the funeral clothing of the deceased priests.

INTRODUCTION: : Functioning of the EMS during one year pre-pandemic compared to one year pandemic outbreak was analysed in relation to specific intervention groups alongside each other. Our observations focused on women requiring implementation of medical procedures and treatment by gynecology and obstetrics departments with the initial participation of EMS. Cases of both pregnant women and those with reproductive system diseases were analysed. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included a retrospective analysis of EMS interventions from the Łuków region in the two-year period from March 2019 to the end of February 2021 (one year before the epidemic - period I, and the year of the epidemic in Poland - period II). The material consisted of departure order flowsheet and the ambulance flowsheet records. RESULTS: In the 2-year period, there were 101 events that met the criteria for inclusion in the analysis, respectively 58 - period I and 43 - period II. In both periods, cases related to the commencement of the patient's labor outside the hospital ward are analyzed more often. The percentage share of interventions in the period before and during the pandemic for subsequent months of the year showed no significant correlations (χ2 = 14.886; p = 0.188). CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly affect the number of EMS interventions related to gynecological and obstetric events in the area covered by the analysis. The mean duration of EMS interventions to gynecological and obstetric conditions slightly increased during the epidemic period.
