Opis:
Proper planning of the training process based on individual LT and AT metabolic thresholds is essential to improve athletic performance. Development of endurance in soccer players is mainly based on continuous runs and variable-intensity runs, supplemented with strength conditioning and sport-specific training. The aim of the study was to analyse selected parameters of physical capacity of soccer players after 8-week variable-intensity running training and circuit training. The experiment was carried out in a group of 34 soccer players aged 21 to 26 years. The athletes were divided into two groups: 17 people in the experimental group and 17 people in the control group. The experimental group was involved in 30-minute tempo runs two times a week for 8 weeks with variable intensity at AT. In the same period, the control group performed two 60-minute continuous runs at the intensity of 70-75%HRmax. The determination of metabolic thresholds used two indirect tests: the multistage shuttle run test (beep test) and maximal lactate steady state test (MLSS) with author's own modification. In order to evaluate maximal heart rate (HRmax), the research procedure was started from the beep test (distance: 20 m). The speed at the first level was 8.5 km/h and increased with each level by 0.5 km/h. Training of the experimental group where variable exercise intensity was used caused a statistically significant increase in HRmax (by 1.9%) and blood lactate levels at the AT (by 20.5%). The training in the experimental group led to the statistically significant (p < 0.05) increase in the parameters of the following variables: HRmax (by 1.9%); lactate level (by 7.85); HR at the AT (by 1,9%); lactate level at the AT (by 20.5%). The assumptions of the experimental training did not cause statistically significant changes in pretest vs. posttest HRmax and blood lactate levels for the LT. Endurance training with high intensity is more effective in soccer players compared to training with moderate intensity. Development of special endurance in soccer should also assume the intensity and method of working similar to the method used during sport competition.

W artykule przedstawiono zmiany, jakie zaszły w sposobie prowadzenia szkoleń bibliotecznych podczas pandemii Covid-19. Zajęcia prowadzone dotychczas w formie blended learning, a więc częściowo na miejscu w Bibliotece Głównej, częściowo na platformie Moodle, przybrały w roku akademickim 2020/2021 wyłącznie formę kształcenia zdalnego. Omówienie zawiera analizę zarówno wszystkich elementów kursu, jak i kształconych w jego trakcie kompetencji.
This article describes how library induction training is given during the pandemic. Before changes brought about by the pandemic crisis these classes for first-year students were given in a form of blended-learning - partly onsite in the Main Library and partly online on the Moodle e-Learning platform. As a result of the pandemic, this training has been redesigned and for the academic year 2020/2021 library induction training for students will be conducted online only.

Opis:
Recognizing faces under various lighting conditions is a challenging problem in artificial intelligence and applications. In this paper we describe a new face recognition algorithm which is invariant to illumination. We first convert image files to the logarithm domain and then we implement them using the dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DTCWT) which yields images approximately invariant to changes in illumination change. We classify the images by the collaborative representation-based classifier (CRC). We also perform the following sub-band transformations: (i) we set the approximation sub-band to zero if the noise standard deviation is greater than 5; (ii) we then threshold the two highest frequency wavelet sub-bands using bivariate wavelet shrinkage. (iii) otherwise, we set these two highest frequency wavelet sub-bands to zero. On obtained images we perform the inverse DTCWT which results in illumination invariant face images. The proposed method is strongly robust to Gaussian white noise. Experimental results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms several existing methods on the Extended Yale Face Database B and the CMU-PIE face database.

In our earlier papers a hybrid adsorption-compression refrigeration cycle was presented. The hybrid, two stages cycle is based only on the natural refrigerants: water and carbon dioxide. The main advantage of the hybrid cycle is that the carbon dioxide compression cycle is subcritical because during the year-round operation it is possible to maintain the condensing temperature below 20°C. During the hot season, this is achieved by adsorption cooling, during cold seasons the wet cooling tower is sufficient. Already several years of experience, allowed to gather a considerable amount of measurement data. The refrigeration system is working in our laboratory constantly since 2013. In 2015 the adsorption system was upgraded by the manufacturer. In 2017 frequency inverter for wet tower fan controlling was introduced. The refrigeration chamber was used for tests with different content and operation of the refrigeration chamber (loading and unloading). The assumed CO2 evaporating temperature was -35°C. The averaged for HT (High Temperature) part of the cascade (adsorption cycle only) COPHT=0.51 for the whole year 2018. This may be considered a very good performance. Averaged total COP for the cascade system: COP=0.9 compared to COP=0.84 for compression only refrigeration cascade, with much higher TEWI index. For comparison for two-stage compression (R407CHT+R744LT) cycle was used. This means that if the cooling tower fan operation is controlled using an inverter, adjusted to the actual heat removal demand, the hybrid cycle is not only ecological but also energetically efficient.

In this work the effect of Paraquat (PQ) and Graraoxone (GX) on isolated human and carp hemoglobins was studied. Degradation products of PQ were isolated from GX solution by thin layer chromatography on silica gel platelets. Purity of the GX fractions obtained was verified on the basis of silica gel rechromatography. The fractions were identified by IR, UV and visible spectra. Binding of PQ degradation products to hemoglobin was studied by molecular filtration through a Sephadex G-50 column. Interaction of GX fractions with hemoglobin was studied by the spectrophotometric method. Absorption spectra were recorded in the X = 200-900 nm range in 30-min intervals, between 0 and 3 hrs of incubation. Effect of pH of the medium on the amount of hemoglobin-bound ligand was determined, and the reactivity of the GX fractions obtained was compared with those of PQ and GX. Conditions of the strongest and the weakest binding of the ligands were identified. The studies performed point to a considerable importance of Hb in the transport of PQ and its degradation products to various tissues. The stronger binding of these ligands by carp Hb confirms that fishes are more sensitive to poisoning by bipyridyl derivatives as compared with mammals (primates).

The paper presents problems concerning the evolution of haemoglobin. The main stages of Hb evolution: globin gene evolution, formation and solubility of Hb tetramer and functional Hb regulation by allosteric effectors have been presented. The gene duplication, occuring during the formation of fetal and embryonal Hb as well as the evolution rate of vertebrate Hb were discussed. The authors presented the role of exons, introns and pseudogens in the evoluing of globin and discussed the posibility of the acceleration of evolutionary process by means of exon-intron recombinations.

Scheduling buses in public transport systems consists in assigning trips to vehicle blocks. To minimize the cost of fuel and environmental impact of public transport, the number of vehicle blocks used should be as small as possible, but sufficient to cover all trips in a timetable. However, when solving real life transportation problems, it is difficult to decide whether the number of vehicle blocks obtained from an algorithm is minimal, unless the actual minimal number is already known, which is rare, or the theoretical lower bound on the number of vehicles has been determined. The lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks is even more important and useful since it can be used both as a parameter that controls the optimization process and as the minimum expected value of the respective optimization criterion. Therefore, methods for determining the lower bound in transportation optimization problems have been studied for decades. However, the existing methods for determining the lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks are very limited and do not take multiple depots or heterogeneous fleet of vehicles into account. In this research, we propose a new practical and effective method to assess the lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks in the Multi-Depot Vehicle Scheduling Problem (MDVSP) with a mixed fleet covering electric vehicles (MDVSP-EV). The considered MDVSP-EV reflects a problem of public transport planning encountered in medium-sized cities. The experimental results obtained for a real public transport system show the great potential of the proposed method in determining the fairly strong lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks. The method can generate an estimated distribution of the number of blocks during the day, which may be helpful, for example, in planning duties and crew scheduling. An important advantage of the proposed method is its low calculation time, which is very important when solving real life transportation problems.
