    Der Aufsatz geht der Triade Liebe-Erinnern-Identität in drei Romanen von Anna Mitgutsch nach. Die identitätsstiftende Funktion der Liebe kommt dort auf besondere Weise zum Vorschein — da es kein liebendes Wir mehr gibt, das die Figuren über ihre Unsicherheit hinwegretten könnte, wird dieses in der Erinnerungsarbeit (re)konstruiert. Den Ausgangspunkt der Erwägungen bildet der von der Autorin in ihrem programmatischen Essay zitierte Satz von Ruth Klüger, der in einer umgewandelten Form das Wesen der erinnerten Liebe pointiert: „Die Erinnerung an die Liebe überwindet die Unerträglichkeit dieser Liebe indem sie eine Liebe zurechtbastelt.“
    The article is devoted to the topical triad: love-reminiscences-identity in three novels by Anna Mitgutsch. The key role of love in building up identity takes in them a special form on — due to the lack of love ties which could save one from insecurity, the heroines reconstruct it in their reminiscences. The point of departure of these deliberations is the statement of Ruth Klüger, quoted by the writer in her artistic manifesto, which—in a transformed form—conveys the contents of the mentioned loves: “The reminiscence of love overcomes the unbearableness of this love, thus creating the real love.”
    Artykuł poświęcony jest triadzie miłość-wspomnienia-tożsamość w trzech powieściach Anny Mitgutsch. Kluczowa rola miłości w tworzeniu tożsamości przybiera w nich formę szczególną — z braku miłosnej wspólnoty, która ratowałaby przed niepewnością, bohaterki (re)konstruują ją we wspomnieniach. Punktem wyjścia rozważań jest cytowane przez pisarkę w jej programowym eseju stwierdzenie Ruth Klüger, które w zmienionej formie oddaje istotę wspominanych miłości: „Wspomnienie miłości przezwycięża nieznośność tejże miłości, tworząc właściwą miłość.”

    Matthias Nawrat, born in 1979 in Opole, has been living in Germany since 1989. In his latest novel Die vielen Tode unseres Opas Jurek (2015) the author returns to the country of his birth in order to recount one century of the Polish as well as of the Polish-German history. The ghastly-comical family-story uses mobile parts of stage scenery from a picaresque novel – in the centre stands a man (grandfather Jurek) who, in spite of all the atrocities of the 20th century, won’t let others prevent him from leading a joyful life. While staging the story of a struggling artist, he refers back to stereotypes, obviously with the intention of strenghtening the existing models. This contribution poses a question if the game has been successful.

    The essay is devoted to the novels of the German writer Stephen Thome. The writer’s narrative attention is focused on the puzzlement regarding intimate relations between males and females, aiming at captur-ing to what extent love, “a warming and intoxicating drug in the social coldness” (Volkmar Sigusch) is capable of making life meaningful. In the very centre of the analysis stands on the one hand the ‘in-each other-reflection’ of the male and female positions, on the other hand the palpable ambivalence between the inner freezing of the figures and their desire for gentle intimacy. The attempt has been made in order to open the arranged forms of the fulfillment of the desire – i.e. love and sexuality – to the possibility of depicting the phenomenon which is – according to Sigusch – significant for the late-modern era: more important than the sexual act for the partners is a steady relationship in which they feel accepted and preserved.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza przedstawionych w twórczości austriackiej autorki Anny Kim związków między migracją a kształtem struktur rodzinnych. Punktem wyjścia rozważań jest określenie pojęć rodzina i rodzina interkulturowa wraz ze wskazaniem na specyfikę potencjalnych konfliktów, dotykających rodzinę z doświadczeniem imigracji. Na tej podstawie naświetlono literackie obrazy konstelacji rodzinnych. Niniejsze rozważania koncentrują się wokół trzech głównych pytań: Jakie historie migracji i jakie konstelacje rodzinne kreuje autorka? Co jest charakterystyczne dla przedstawionych projektów tożsamości i wzorców integracji migrantów? Jaką rolę ogrywa w kontekście migracji pamięć rodzinna?
    The article analyses the relations between migration and the development of family structures as presented in the works of the Austrian author Anna Kim. The starting point of the reflections is the definition of the concepts of ‘family’ and ‘intercultural family’ along with an indication of the specificity of potential conflicts affecting families with emigrant experience. Literary images of family constellations are subsequently presented against this background. The article addresses three main questions: What are the migration histories and family constellations created by the author? What are the characteristic features of the projects of identity and patterns of migrant integration? What role does family memory play in the context of migration?
    Der Beitrag setzt sich zum Ziel, die im Werk der österreichischen Autorin Anna Kim inszenierten Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Migration und Familienstrukturen zu analysieren. Den Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung bildet die Erörterung der Begriffe ‚Familie’ sowie ‚interkulturelle Familie’ mit einer Andeutung spezifischer Konfliktpotenziale in einer von den Folgen der Migration betroffenen Familie. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden Figurationen der Familienstrukturen in Kims Werk beleuchtet. Die folgenden Ausführungen konzentrieren sich auf drei zentrale Fragen: Welche Migrationsgeschichten und Familienkonstellationen werden von der Autorin dargestellt? Was ist für die geschilderten Identitätskonzepte und Integrationsmuster der Migrant/innen charakteristisch? Welche Rolle wird im Kontext der Migration dem Familiengedächtnis beigemessen?

    Der Aufsatz ist zwei Romanen des deutschen Schriftstellers Stephan Thome gewidmet. Den Kristallisationspunkt der teils melancholischen, teils witzig pointierten Narrationen bilden sowohl in Grenzgang (2009) als auch in Fliehkräfte (2012) die verzweifelten, mehr oder minder geglückten Versuche männlicher Protagonisten, sich aus emotionaler Routine zu befreien, die in Zeiten des Abgesangs auf habituelle Männlichkeitsnormen, in unterschiedlicher Ausprägung dem männlichen Subjekt als ein notdürftiger Schutzbau für ‚sein geschundenes Ego‘ dient. Den Ausgangspunkt bilden die soziokulturell angelegten Studien, die die These widerlegen, dass das Spektrum männlicher Emotionen sich auf die Unterdrückung der Gefühle und die Disziplinierung pathologischer Leidenschaften beschränke.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest dwóm powieściom niemieckiego pisarza Stephana Thome: Grenzgang (2009) oraz Fliehkräfte (2012). Punktem ciężkości tych po części melancholijnych, po części dowcipnych narracji są desperackie, mniej lub bardziej udane próby uwolnienia się bohaterów z emocjonalnej rutyny, która po upadku habitualnych norm męskości przejawia się jako prowizoryczny schron dla ‚udręczonego ego‘ męskiego podmiotu. Punktem wyjścia rozważań są prace socjologiczne i kulturoznawcze, które obalają tezę, jakoby spektrum męskich emocji ograniczało się do tłumienia uczuć i dyscyplinowania patologicznych namiętności.  
    The article is devoted to two novels of the German writer Stephen Thome: Grenzgang (2009) and Fliehkräfte (2012). The essential element of those partly melancholic, partly witty narratives are desperate, more or less successful attempts to free the literary heroes from emotional routine which – after the fall of habitual norms of masculinity – manifests itself as a makeshift shelter for the ‚plagued ego‘ of the male subject. The point of departure in relation to those deliberations are sociological and cultural works which debunk the thesis that the spectrum of male emotions limits itself to suppressing emotions as well as to disciplining pathological desires.

    Der Text ist ein Versuch, die gegenwärtige österreichische Prosa von Frauen im Spiegel feministischer Konzepte zu zeigen. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt dabei den andersgearteten Entwicklungen in Österreich und in Deutschland. Diese zeichnen sich – was die Suche nach neuen künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen betrifft – bereits nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ab und erfahren eine Radikalisierung seit dem Anfang der 1970er Jahre. Werden die Thematik oder das Sprachverständnis auch von der jüngsten Autorinnengeneration nicht angezweifelt, so verstehen diese ihr Engagement dennoch anders. Die engagierten Feministinnen von einst hingegen spüren einem neuen Ausschlussphänomen nach – dem Alter.
    Niniejszy tekst jest próbą ukazania współczesnej kobiecej prozy austriackiej przez pryzmat teorii feministycznych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem różnic w odniesieniu do literatury pozostałego obszaru niemieckojęzycznego. Rysują się one wyraźnie już po drugiej wojnie światowej w fazie poszukiwania nowych środków artystycznego wyrazu, a na początek lat siedemdziesiątych przypada ich zdecydowana radykalizacja. O ile tematyka czy skupienie na języku nie zostają zakwestionowane także przez najmłodszą generację pisarek, to zdecydowanie inaczej rozumieją one zaangażowanie społeczne. A zaangażowane feministki sprzed lat mierzą się z nowym aspektem wykluczenia – starością.
    The text is meant to give an insight into the contemporary prose of female writers in the light of certain feministic concepts with a special focus on the different developments in Austria and Germany. These have already become apparent – as far as the search for new artistic forms of expression is concerned – after the Second World War and have been experiencing a radicalization since the beginning of the 1970s. Even though the youngest generation of female authors doubts neither the subject matter nor the comprehension of language, they still have a different way of assessing their commitment. Meanwhile the committed feminists of the earlier generation are pursuing a new phenomenon of exclusion – age.

The question therefore is: What is the role of the literary, iconographic and media discourses of temperature in the processes of the creating and transformations of emotional cultures, social phenomena, political condi-tions, and last but not least in the critical reflection of these processes.
