    The main goal of the paper is to study the effectiveness of legal changes introduced in 2016 which were aimed at reduction of the VAT gap in Poland. The study consists of a normative, legal and quantitative analysis of data provided by the Ministry of Finance and shows the financial scale of VAT gap reduction. The thesis put forward in the paper assumes that the changes in law introduced in 2016 made it possible to effectively reduce the VAT gap in Poland and to tighten the system of VAT collection. The author managed to confirm the thesis in the course of the conducted research. The paper also emphasizes that the Polish tax on goods and services is well harmonized with its EU counterpart. Also the activities aimed at combating the phenomenon of VAT fraud seem to have brought positive results. At the same time, the central invoice register which is due to be implemented in July 2019, is expected to be a significant improvement.

    The paper presents theoretical and practical aspects of prosecution of criminals involved in illegal sales of liquid fuels. It has been noticed that despite increasing attention paid to the prosecution of fuel frauds, the grey area still exists, which is due to the fact that such crimes are easy to commit, the profits to be gained are enormous, and legal consequences are rather insignificant. Recently, however, the detectability of tax frauds has increased. The improved efficiency of tax control authorities can be attributed to the introduction of the following: methodology of assessment of due diligence demonstrated by the buyers of goods in domestic transactions; JPK – the Polish equivalent of SAF-T (Standard Audit File for Tax); split payment; SENT system; fuel package.

    The purpose of this study is to present, analyze and evaluate the behavior of buyers on the market for dairy products, including the importance they attach to the origin of the product and to the producers in the buying process. The attitudes towards regional products and producers were associated with other elements of consumer behavior related to the decision-making process on the dairy market, such as: product selection criteria; frequency of purchases in various store types; and basic criteria for store selection. The research part is based on the analysis of the results of surveys conducted in 2015 with a group of 694 students. The study demonstrates the existence of important links between “pro-regional” attitudes and such determinants of the choice of dairy products as the product’s nutritional composition; absence of preservatives; quality certificates; country of origin; and environmental performance. This suggests that dairy products from regional producers are associated with high quality, naturalness and wholesomeness.

    Knowing buyers' preferences and behaviors is a key factor of contributing to success of every business. Effective marketing requires precise segmentation, according to which a personalized market offer is created that takes into account the capabilities and needs of a specific consumers group. The k-means method is a research method that can be the basis for segmentation of buyers as it reflects consumer responses to individual variants or attributes of products. The purpose of the publication is to present the possibilities of application of the k-means method in the segmentation procedure in the food market.     Opis:
    The main objective of this paper was to assess the impact of promotional measures on the buying process of young consumers on selected food products markets. The empirical part was prepared based on surveys, which were conducted in 2016 and involved a group of 486 students using the purposive sampling method. As a result of the conducted surveys, it was determined that the individual types of promotional measures had a different impact on food buyers in terms of their food-buying decisions. The differences, however, were not signifiant. The most important role, in relation to all the studied product groups, was played by price discounts, followed by special offers at the place of sale and recommendations by family and friends.
    Celem głównym pracy była ocena wpływu działań promocyjnych na kształtowanie się procesu zakupowego młodych konsumentów na rynku wybranych produktów żywnościowych. Część empiryczną opracowano na podstawie badań sondażowych, które zostały przeprowadzone w 2016 roku na grupie 486 studentów przy wykorzystaniu metody doboru celowego. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań wykazano, że poszczególne rodzaje działań promocyjnych miały dla badanych młodych nabywców żywności zróżnicowane znaczenie w procesie podejmowania decyzji o zakupie żywności, choć różnice te nie były duże. Najistotniejszą rolę w odniesieniu do wszystkich badanych grup produktów miały rabaty cenowe, a w dalszej kolejności promocje handlowe w miejscu sprzedaży, a także rekomendacje rodziny i znajomych

    This paper shows a novel, simple and rapid voltammetric procedure, which enables Cd and Pb determination at traces concentrations. All measurements were carried out by differential  pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) with total time of analysis of 210 s. The obtained detection limits were 8.46 · 10-10 mol L-1 and 2.57 · 10-10 mol L-1  for Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively. This procedure was successfully applied for the quantification of mentioned metal ions in water samples collected from the Vistula River.

    CK2 is a pleiotropic constitutively active serine/threonine protein kinase composed of two catalytic α- and two regulatory β-subunits, whose regulation is still not well understood. It seems to play an essential role in regulation of many cellular processes. Four active forms of CK2, composed of αα'ββ', α2ββ', α'2ββ', and a free α'-subunit were isolated from wild-type yeast and strains containing a single deletion of the catalytic subunit. Each species exhibits properties typical for CK2, but they differ in substrate specificity and sensitivity to inhibitors. This suggests that each CK2 isomer may regulate different process or may differ in the way of its regulation.

    This article aims at the presentation of most prominent infectious agents that emerged just few months age. Coronaviruses (CoVs) constitute a large group of ssRNA viruses that cause acute and chronic diseases in animals and humans. They show a high degree of genetic variability resulting in the existence of four major genera (alfa-, beta-, gamma– and deltacoronaviruses), that further diverge into multiple subgenera and genetic lineages. Different types of CoVs occur naturally in cattle, horses, pigs, cats, dogs, rodents and many species of birds. Bats however, are considered as the natural reservoir and primary source of novel coronaviruses with zoonotic potential, including MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. There is evidence that intermediate hosts (e.g. civets, dromedary camels, pangolins), can play a key role in the transmission of coronaviruses from bats to humans. Currently, the major concern is associated with SARS-CoV-2, a causative agent of COVID-19 – a human disease that originated in China in late 2019 and spread globally in the early 2020. It has been shown recently, that SARS-CoV-2 is capable of infecting some species of animals, including cats, tigers, ferrets and minks. These rare cases have most likely been caused by human-to-animal transmission and further extensive research are required to elucidate the role of animals in the epidemiology of COVID-19.

    Opis:
    The article proposes a model in which Diffusion Approximation is used to analyse the TCP/AQM transmission mechanism in a multinode computer network. In order to prevent traffic congestion, routers implement AQM (Active Queue Management) algorithms. We investigate the influence of using RED-based AQM mechanisms and the fractional controller PIγ on the transport layer. Additionally, we examine the cases in which the TCP and the UDP flows occur and analyse their mutual influence. Both transport protocols used are independent and work simultaneously. We compare our solution with the Fluid Flow approximation, demonstrating the advantages of Diffusion Approximation.
