Opis:
Knowledge of the uncertainty of measurement of testing results is important when results have to be compared with limits and specifications. In the measurement of sound insulation following standards ISO 140-4 and 140-5 the uncertainty of the final magnitude is mainly associated to the average sound pressure levels L1 and L2 measured. However, the study of sound fields in enclosed spaces is very difficult: there are a wide variety of rooms with different sound fields depending on factors as volume, geometry and materials. A parameter what allows us to quantify the spatial variation of the sound pressure level is the standard deviation of the pressure levels measured at the different positions of the room. Based on the analysis of this parameter some results have been pointed out: we show examples on the influence of the microphone positions and the wall characteristics on the uncertainty of the final magnitudes mainly at the low frequencies regime. In this line, we propose a theoretical calculus of the standard deviation as a combined uncertainty of the standard deviation already proposed in the literature focused in the room geometry and the standard deviation associated to the wall vibrational field.

Opis:
Botanical biopesticides constitute an important tool for Integrated Pest Management practices. Uruguay has a great potential for developing botanical biopesticides from its abundant native flora. Dodonaea viscosa Jacq. is a native Sapindaceae that in preliminary studies was shown to possess a potential deterrent activity against insect models. In this work, ethanolic extracts of the leaves of this species were studied. Bioguided fractionation and supercritical fluid extraction led to the isolation of active compounds. For that purpose four insect models were used: Epilachna paenulata, Spodoptera littoralis, Myzus persicae, and Rhopalosiphum padi, which are pests of crops of economic importance. Lupeol, stigmasterol, stigmast-7-en-3-ol, and a labdane diterpene were isolated and showed differential activity against the models.

Opis:
In this work, the syntheses and characterization by mechanical and dielectric spectroscopies of (1-x) Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-xBaTiO3 (BNT-100xBT), with x = 0.05, 0.06 and 0.07, lead-free piezoelectric ceramics is reported. Ceramic samples of BNT-BT have been prepared by mixed-oxide method and then conventionally sintered. X-ray diffraction patterns of sintered samples, indicated for BNT-7BT the presence of tetragonal (P4mm) complex perovskite structure, whereas for BNT-5BT and BNT-6BT the samples exhibit a mixture of tetragonal (P4mm) and rhombohedral (R3c) crystalline phases, which reveal the presence of a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) in the BNT-BT system. Measurements of internal friction, Q-1, and the storage modulus, E’, as a function of temperature at various frequencies were carried out in a Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA), in the temperature range from 0ºC to 600ºC. Dielectric profiles are recorded in the frequency range from 1kHz to 100kHz and the temperature range from room temperature to 475ºC. Mechanical loss spectra obtained for investigated compositions of BNT-BT samples showed different frequency-independent anomalies. Two main anomalies for BNT-5BT and BNT-6BT, observed around 100ºC and 430ºC were associated with the ferroelectric-antiferroelectric and antiferroelectricparaelectric phase transitions, respectively. The results obtained from mechanical loss measurements were supported by dielectric relaxation spectra. For BNT-7BT, outside the MPB, four different frequency-independent processes were observed.

Let E be a Fréchet Schwartz space with a continuous norm and with a finite-dimensional decomposition, and let F be any infinite-dimensional subspace of E. It is proved that E can be written as G ⨁ H where G and H do not contain any subspace isomorphic to F. In particular, E is not primary. If the subspace F is not normable then the statement holds for other quasinormable Fréchet spaces, e.g., if E is a quasinormable and locally normable Köthe sequence space, or if E is a space of holomorphic functions of bounded type $ℋ_b(U)$, where U is a Banach space or a bounded absolutely convex open set in a Banach space.

The aim of the presented study is to identify the attitudes of future teachers (in pre-service teacher education) toward Augmented Reality (AR) applications. The innovation experience was carried out in the academic year 2016/17. For the collection of data, the Augmented Reality Applications Attitude Scale (ARAAS), by Küçük, Yilmaz, Baydaş & Göktaş (2014), was adapted to the Spanish context. It is a Likert scale grouped into three dimensions that determine the attitudes of future teachers toward the use of AR applications in education, which are Relevance, Satisfaction and Reliability. In order to analyse data, the statistical software SPSS 23.0 was used. The Bartlett test of sphericity and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test for sampling adequacy were also conducted. Results of the study led to the following conclusions: the students developed a favourable attitude in their role as future teachers toward the use of AR applications as learning tools, which have also provided deep learning.

Opis:
The paper analyses the performance of an Automatic Vessel Identification System on Medium Frequency (AVISOMEF), which works with the Grid Method (GM) on high density maritime European routes using real data and uniformly distributed data. Compared to other systems, AVISOMEF is a novelty, as it is not a satellite system, nor is it limited by a given coverage distance, in contrast to the Automatic Identification System (AIS), though in exceptional circumstances it leans towards it. To perform the analysis, special simulation software was developed. Moreover, a number of maritime routes along with their traffic density data were selected for the study. For each route, two simulations were performed, the first of which based on the uniform traffic distribution along the route, while the second one made use of real AIS data positioning of vessels sailing on the selected routes. The obtained results for both simulations made the basis for formulating conclusions regarding the capacity of selected routes to support AVISOMEF.

Opis:
The discovery of theropod shed teeth associated with sauropod remains is relatively common in Cretaceous deposits of Patagonia. However, only a handful of studies have thoroughly explored the phylogenetic affinities of the theropod dental material. Here, we describe and identify twelve theropod shed teeth associated with a partially complete skeleton of a titanosaur sauropod from the Allen Formation (middle Campanian–lower Maastrichtian; Upper Cretaceous) of Paso Córdoba, Río Negro, Argentina. Using three methods, namely a cladistic analysis performed on a dentition-based data matrix, and a discriminant and cluster analyses conducted on a large dataset of theropod teeth measurements, we identify three dental morphotypes which are confidently referred to abelisaurid theropods. Whether the morphotypes represent different abelisaurid subclades or different positional entities within the jaw of the same abelisaurid species, is unknown. Such an identification, nevertheless, provides additional evidence of abelisaurids feeding on sauropod carcasses. This study highlights the importance of using combined qualitative and quantitative methodologies to identify isolated theropod teeth, especially those that can provide direct information on feeding ecology.

Opis:
Sleep deprivation affects numerous cognitive processes. Children populations have not been studied thoroughly, with regard to the effect of sleep deprivation on communication abilities. In this study, we investigate the pragmatic competence following acute sleep deprivation. Two eleven-year-old boys were evaluated on their pragmatic ability before and following sleep deprivation. The conversations were video-recorded, transcribed and analyzed using the CHAT conventions. The Pragmatic Evaluation Protocol Revised (PREP-R) was administered for the investigation of pragmatic ability. Both children demonstrated a significantly lower performance following acute sleep deprivation. Their specific pragmatic ability and grammatically-based pragmatic ability were impaired. The subjects were unable to use lexical, morphological and syntactic cohesion, and encountered difficulties in the interaction and the managing of pauses. Acute sleep deprivation affects pragmatic competence, mainly due to difficulties in alertness, attention, working memory, and executive dysfunction in general. Variability in the pragmatic ability of the two subjects implies that more studies, focused on the cognitive deficits after sleep deprivation can cast more light on the evaluation of pragmatic ability.

Opis:
Triptorelin as the luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) analogue has its own place among other available forms of androgen-depravation therapy (ADT) of locally advanced and metastatic prostate cancer (PCa). Nowadays, in times of development of new therapies in castration-resistant PCa, ADT remains the back bone therapy, which may be supplemented with one of novel drugs. The results of basic research indicate, that apart from the main mechanism of action based on lowering a testosterone concentration to the castration level, triptorelin may have a direct inhibitory effect on tumor cells. Formulations of tryptorelin are available to administer as 1-month, 3-months and 6-months sustained-release forms that may be given intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Constant concentration of triptoreline is maintained by using special microspheres in drug production. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of particular forms were extensively tested, which allows for safe usage and retain of predictable and high efficacy. Indicators of effective ADT are fast reduction and maintenance of the state of castration. This phenomenon translates into a decrease of the prostate-specific antigen and longer survival. Triptorelin successfully meets these objectives based on a number of phase I–III studies. There is a noticeable lack of comparative studies on effectiveness of particular ADT forms. This may stem from an assumption, that all LHRH analogues demonstrate similar effectiveness because of the class effect. However, some evidence highlight significant differences in efficacy among these drugs. Triptorelin compares especially favourably, particularly as a drug reducing the testosterone level to the lower recommended values (< 20 ng/dl). Side effect profile during the therapy with triptorelin is largely the result of inhibition of the hypothalamic- pituitary-testicular axis. Hormonal disturbances linked to hipoandrogenism cause changes in lipid metabolism and glucose tolerance, which may influence the cardiovascular risk. This article is a review of key reports regarding triptorelin and a summary of the role that triptorelin plays in contemporary ADT in advanced PCa.
