Opis:
This article analyzes the relationship, according to Aegidius Romanus, between spiritual power and temporal power. From the point of view of the Augustinian author, the autonomy of the world or that of second causes, following St. Thomas Aquinas, must be respected, so that the motions of nature are not usually hampered by any extraordinary intervention. However, this intervention will always be possible in the form of a miracle and according to a special law. Similarly, temporal power normally follows its own goals, without interventions ab extra, nevertheless, the Pope’s plenitude of power can suspend, if necessary (in casu), the power of the secular princes.

Opis:
This article examines Jean-Louis Chrétien’s conception of prayer within the framework of what has been called “the theological turn of French phenomenology”—Dominique Janicaud’s critical expression against phenomenologies that explicitly or implicitly question what is the foundation of phenomenology: the present. While Chrétien seeks to carry out a phenomenology of prayer, of the religious man, without entering beliefs of a positive religion, Janicaud claims that it is not possible, because behind such an intention there is always God who merely does not want to be called by His name.

Opis:
This work is developed within the context of the theological turn of French phenomenology (Janicaud), analyzing the notion of life that Michel Henry stages in the first of his works, The Essence of Manifestation. To this end, we intend to explain what the French author understands both by the alienated manifestation of phenomena in terms of representation or ontological monism, and by the self-manifestation of life that he privileges, which does not consist in placing the phenomena in the light of a conscience, as would be characteristic of the first manifestation, but in a philosophy of Night that owes nothing in the strict sense to mundane transcendence. The latter is preceded and, in any case, made possible by the former. According to Henry, there is an absolute knowledge that is not susceptible to any progress, thus founding a pathetic philosophy by which life reveals itself (Parousia) without the need for intermediaries that would alienate its intimate immediacy.

Opis:
This paper analyzes the XIII century’s doctrine of double truth attributed to a Master of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Paris, Siger of Brabant. We will not, however, concentrate on determining if he was the authentic author of the duplex veritas; instead, our interpretation will focus on the importance of this doctrine as the source of a complex process of secularization that would end with separating faith from reason, theology from philosophy and from a socio-political perspective, the spiritual power from the temporal one.
