    Opis:
    Artykuł porusza temat procesu kolonizacji i chrystianizacji, prowadzonej przez europejskich misjonarzy od czasu tzw. „wielkich odkryć geograficznych”. Celem nie jest jednak opisanie historii kolonizacji, lecz spojrzenie na dzisiejsze oblicze artystyczno-sakralnych działań, obecnych w postkolonialnym świecie. Opisane zostały przykłady współczesnych widowisk i performansów sakralnych w Iztapalapie (Meksyk), na Filipinach (prowincje: Aklan, Pampanga, Rizal) oraz jawajski teatr cieni wayang wahyu. Ich charakter należy odczytywać jako hybrydyczny, a zatem taki, który nigdy nie powstałby bez prekolonialnych korzeni, kolonizacyjno-chrystianizacyjnej działalności misjonarzy oraz postkolonialnego Nowego Porządku.
    The article discusses the issue of colonization and Christianization processes conducted by European missionaries from the time of so-called “Age of Discovery”. However, the aim of the article is not creating a description of colonization history, but taking a look at today’s vision of artistic and religious activities present in postcolonial world. In the article there were described examples of religious shows and performances in Iztapalapa (Mexico) and Philippines (provinces: Aklan, Pampanga, Rizal) as well as Java shadow play called wayang wahyu. Character of these forms of art should be defined as hybrid – they would not exist without pre-colonial origins, colonization- and Christianization-related activities of missionaries and postcolonial New World Order.

    This essay discusses two examples of contemporary Filipino cinema – The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros (Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros), Auraeus Solito’s directoral debut, and Joel C. Lamangan’s Zsazsa Zaturnnah: Ze Moveeh. More divides than binds these films together, especially in terms of genre. The first is a comedy-drama, the latter – a musical adaptation of a fantasy comic book. What binds them together is the fact that both main characters are bakla – Filipino gays, although the word is very difficult to translate into Polish. It refers both to a “gay“ – a homosexual person who is in a relationship with another homosexual person, as well as a feminized man who performs his own sexuality and identity. Even though it would be very difficult to describe The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros and Zsazsa Zaturnnah: Ze Moveeh as masterpieces of contemporary cinema, their pertinence should be seen in the courage to speak about the issue of homosexuality in the Philippines and the undeniable uniqueness of showing the social problems of the country in this manner.

    Opis:
    The article discusses the problem of authenticity and commercialization in the context of the postcolonial theatre in Cambodia. It seems that contemporary art in this country depends on foreign funds and at the same time on the special taste of – mainly – Western donors. The author tries to show, that the epithet “pure Cambodian” is very often used to make art more interesting to tourists. A similar situation can be seen in the crucifixions in Cutud (which annually takes place in a Philippine province – Pampanga with a wide touristic audience) and in Balinese theatre (another good example of a postcolonial, hybrid identity). Moreover, a discourse of the battle between “traditional” and “touristic” points of view does not have one answer. The search for purity can be a cause of petrifying traditional forms, as well as a sign of neocolonialism and (self-)orientalisation. On the other hand, a dialogue between indigenous artists and the others, tourists, may give the art a new profile and new meaning.
