    Opis:
    The historic Jewish Purification House Bet Tahara was erected in Olsztyn in 1913 on the basis of the debut design of Erich Mendelsohn, a world-famous architect born in Olsztyn. The most valuable element of the building is a self-supporting pyramid vault above a mourning hall. The paper presents the interesting structure of the building, its technical condition before renovation, as well as the scope of work involved in adapting it into a public utility building - MENDELSOHN HOUSE Intercultural Dialogue Centre. The undertaking was executed thanks to the commitment of the building’s leaseholder - “Borussia” Cultural Community Association, which raised money for this goal from public funds.
    W 2013 roku w Olsztynie zakończono rewitalizację zabytkowego żydowskiego Domu Oczyszczeń Bet Tahara, który został wybudowany w 1913 r. na podstawie projektu światowej sławy architekta Ericha Mendelsohna. Analiza wartościująca wykazała istotną wartość historyczną i artystyczną obiektu, jego dość dobry stan techniczny, świetną lokalizację w centrum miasta, uregulowany stan prawny, możliwość zrealizowania nowej funkcji użytkowej bez strat dla substancji budynku i niedopuszczalnych przekształceń oraz precyzyjnie określony cel rewitalizacji - przeznaczenie obiektu na cele edukacyjno-kulturalne. W artykule opisano interesującą konstrukcję budynku (którego najcenniejszym elementem jest samonośne ostrosłupowe sklepienie nad salą pożegnań), jego stan techniczny przed renowacją oraz zakres prac związanych z adaptacją na budynek użyteczności publicznej-Centrum Dialogu Międzykulturowego DOM MENDELSOHNA. Renowacja kompleksu budynków Bet Tahara nie byłaby możliwa bez zaangażowania społecznego, to znaczy wolontariuszy Stowarzyszenia Wspólnota Kulturowa „Borussia” współpracujących z Fundacją Ochrony Dziedzictwa Żydowskiego.

    The article presents chosen aspects of designing and realization of low energy single-family houses fulfilling the requirements of the NF40 and NF15 standards as determined in the priority program of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management entitled „An improvement of energy effectiveness. Subsidies to low energy houses”. An analysis concerns the minimal technical requirements pertaining to the outside shape and internal structure of NF40 and NF15 buildings, in comparison with the building law recommendation on technical conditions to meet by buildings and their location. An attention was paid to chosen problems of fulfilling the requirements of the NF40 and NF15 standards and the need of applying modern structural and material solutions and to especially accurate realization.

    Opis:
    Populations of Helix pomatia L. in Poland have been commercially exploited since 1951; the snails are mostly exported. The growing interest in the Roman snail on the European market has resulted in its increased exploitation, in some areas leading to a considerable decrease in its abundance. Introducing export quota in 1964 did not prevent overexploitation. Precise assessment of abundance and distribution of the Roman snail populations in areas where it is exploited is necessary. In 2009 the team from the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, conducted a preliminary assessment and mapping of the abundance and distribution of the Roman snail populations in Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship. Most populations showed a low density. From scientific point of view the most reasonable solution would be to suspend exploitation in 2010 and continue monitoring, while decisions to issue permits for limited exploitation should be postponed till 2011. It would enable a more detailed estimation of the non-exploited populations and an assessment of losses resulting from exploitation of controlled reference populations. In this way acceptable limits of annual commercial collecting could be set for particular parts of the voivodeship.
