Nowadays, one may observe a growing interest in sustainable development as the auspicious way to resolve global civilisation problems (www.undp.org). This leads to the increasing role of proper Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Although there are many approaches to the strategy of efficient teaching (UNESCO 2012), in times of narrow specialization interdisciplinarity is frequently undervalued (Klein 1990). In this paper, the author brings attention to the question of interdisciplinarity in a broader context: its constantly changing definition, common ground with sustainability, main advantages of such a way of thinking, crucial difficulties, and hints aimed at how to introduce it to one’s own teaching tools. As a case study, the teaching of nanotechnology (Meyer 2001) will be used to provide additional examples, share experiences, and make the connection between theory and practice. The aim is to disseminate the idea of interdisciplinarity as a key to efficient ESD in many domains.

The aim of the paper is to present the subject matter related to the procedure of resolving disputes arising in connection with implementation of agreements concluded on the basis of contract models published by the international federation FIDIC in 1999 Red and Yellow Book. The intention of the authors of the FIDIC templates was to apply an autonomous multistage procedure (the so-called multi-step clause) for resolving disputes based on arbitration without taking the matter to court. However, the application of the procedure proposed by FIDIC raises controversies of legal and factual nature. The problems concern, in particular: the nature, immediate enforceability, contestability of decisions issued by the Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) and methods of their reinforcement. Other issues concern the absence of ‘standing’ or ‘full-term’ Adjudication Board and the right to arbitration in case when a party violates the internal dispute resolution procedure described in the contract, both for reasons dependent on and beyond its control. The publication is of legal and comparative nature and contains the analysis of related jurisprudence of civil law systems of selected countries.

The purpose of the paper is to discuss the problems arising from the application of sub-clause 20.1 of the FIDIC contract templates in the civil and common law countries. For these considerations, the author chose the red and yellow book editions of 1999 in unmodified versions. The paper tries to determine whether it is possible to implement the sub-clause in their original wording in the above-mentioned legal systems. Another aspect under the scrutiny of the author is the legal nature of provisions of 20.1 sub-clause which concern, in particular, the issues related to the 28-day deadline for filing a claim and releasing the contracting authority from the obligation to provide compensation as a result of the Contractor's failure to meet the indicated deadline. The research was conducted using the legal-comparative method. With regard to the civil law system, the analysis concerned the compliance of the sub-clause provisions with mandatory standards, in particular Article 119 of the Civil Code, and Article 353¹ in conjunction with Article 58 of the Civil Code. When it comes to the common law jurisdiction, the study concerned the consequences of failure to comply with the obligation imposed by the sub-clause on the Contractor in the light of the prevention principle and on the basis of praemia that law does not arise from injustice. As a result of the conducted research, it was found that sub-clause 20.1 of the FIDIC contract terms requires prior modifications both in civil and common law countries and adaptation to the requirements of the law in force in the country in which it is to be implemented.

The article is devoted to the Władysław Terlecki archives stored in Ossolineum. It presents a cross-section of their content as well as the meaning of the drafts of printed texts and unpublished works of the author within the meaning of his creative imagination. The author taps into the metaphor of writing as building a honeycomb, which she found in his drafts and with it, she explains Terlecki’s creative method on selected examples from the archives. In the case of his works, recreation of the  technical side of writing is extremely important as it casts a light onto poetics of the published material. The analyses of individual typescripts as well as published texts also show Terlecki’s self-awareness connected with creative processes.
Artykuł opowiada o archiwum Władysława Terleckiego przechowywanym w Zakładzie Narodowym im. Ossolińskich we Wrocławiu. Przekrojowo prezentuje jego zawartość oraz wskazuje znaczenie, jakie mają bruliony tekstów drukowanych i niepublikowane utwory pisarza w rozumieniu jego wyobraźni twórczej. Autorka rozważań podejmuje odnalezioną w brulionie pisarza metaforę pisania jako budowania plastra miodu i za jej pomocą, na wybranych przykładach z archiwum, przybliża metodę twórczą Terleckiego. Odtworzenie technicznej strony procesu pisania jest w przypadku tej twórczości niezwykle istotne, ponieważ rzuca światło na poetykę publikowanych utworów. Analizy poszczególnych maszynopisów, a także tekstów publikowanych pokazują także samoświadomość Terleckiego związaną z procesami twórczymi.

Sukcesy reaktywacji czy modernizacji linii kolejowych w Polsce powodują wzrost zainteresowania opinii publicznej oraz świata polityki tym tematem. W 2019 r. podjęte zostały dwie kluczowe decyzje dla rozwoju systemu kolejowego w Wielkopolsce. Rząd przyjął założenia programu „Kolej Plus”, w ramach którego może dojść do podłączenia do sieci kolejowej Śremu, Gostynia i Turku, a władze województwa przystąpiły do aktualizacji planu transportowego zakładającego przywrócenie ruchu do Międzychodu przez Pniewy i przez Sieraków, a także przywrócenie ruchu do Czarnkowa. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane uwarunkowania transportowe tych inwestycji. Aby inwestycje odniosły sukces, konieczne jest znaczące podniesienie maksymalnych prędkości w stosunku do historycznych parametrów oraz dopasowanie sieci stacji i przystanków do struktury osadniczej. Istniejąca oferta autobusowa służy zaspokojeniu popytu na transport uczniów. Kolej może więc pozyskać osoby korzystające na co dzień z samochodów.
The successes of reactivation or modernization of railway lines in Poland increase the interest of public opinion and politics in the subject. In 2019, two key decisions were taken for the development of the railway system in Greater Poland. The government adopted the assumptions of the “Railway Plus” program, planning the railway links to Śrem, Gostyń and Turek, and the voivodship authorities proceeded to update the transport plan assuming the restoration of traffic to Międzychód through Pniewy and through Sieraków, as well as to Czarnków. This paper presents selected transport conditions of these investments. In order for the investments to be successful, it is necessary to significantly increase the maximum speeds, in relation to historical parameters, and to adapt the station network to the settlement structure. The existing bus offer is designed to meet the demand for pupils and student transport. Therefore, railways can benefit people who use cars on a daily basis.

Głównym celem artykułu jest określenie poziomu dostępności publicznym transportem zbiorowym w podregionie pilskim. Badania zostały wykonane z perspektywy pasażerskiej w ramach analizy publicznie dostępnych informacji o rozkładach jazdy. Analizy dokonano w podziale na miejscowości według bazy PRNG, dzięki czemu możliwe było szczegółowe określenie miejscowości i odsetka osób posiadających określony poziom usług lub pozbawionych w ogóle możliwości dojazdów transportem publicznym. Przebadane zostały również kwestie taryfowe ofert, a także dostępność do informacji o usługach. Wyniki badań pokazują, iż w dni nauki szkolnej w podregionie pozbawionych połączeń autobusowych jest 22% mieszkańców. Problem radykalnie wzrasta w dni robocze w okresie ferii szkolnych (44%) oraz w soboty (60%) i niedziele (63%). Inaczej prezentuje się dostępność kolei. Wprawdzie ponad połowa mieszkańców regionu nie ma dostępu do jej usług, jednak oferta jest bardziej atrakcyjna pod względem stabilności rozkładów jazdy we wszystkie dni roku, a także systemu taryfowego. Zaletę kolei stanowi również dobry dostęp do informacji o rozkładzie.
The main purpose of the paper is to examine the accessibility level of public transport in the Piła subregion. The research was conducted from a passenger perspective – by analyzing publicly available information about timetables. The studies were conducted for each village or town in the database of the State Register of Geographical Names. Thanks this approach was possible to describe a certain level of services for each settlement and calculate the percentage of people not having any access to public transport. Tariff issues regarding offers as well as availability of information on services were also analyzed. Research results show that on school days there are 22% of residents in the subregion without bus or rail connections. The problem, however, increases dramatically on business days during school holidays (44%) and on Saturdays (60%) and Sundays (63%). The issue of rail accessibility is different. Although more than half of the region’s inhabitants do not have access to services, the offer is more attractive in terms of timetable stability on all days of the year, as well as the tariff system. The advantage of rail is also good access to information about the timetable.

Zawartość trwałych zanieczyszczeń organicznych (TZO) w rybach zależy od właściwości fizykochemicznych tych związków, cech biologiczno-fizjologicznych i ekologii odżywiania ryb oraz stopnia zanieczyszczenia środowiska abiotycznego. Stężenia 25 kongenerów PCB, DDT i jego pochodnych, α-, β- i γ-HCH oraz heptachloru oznaczano w mięśniach, wątrobach i gonadach turbota (Psetta maxima) złowionego w południowym Bałtyku w latach 2007-2009. Celem badań było określenie poziomu akumulacji i dystrybucji międzytkankowej tych związków oraz różnic międzypłciowych w ich akumulacji u turbota. Mediany stężeń Σ7PCB, Σm-oPCB, Σ25PCB, ΣDDT, ΣHCH i heptachloru w mięśniach samic i samców były zbliżone, u samic wynosiły odpowiednio 4,3, 1,0, 6,3, 5,4, 0,5 i 0,03 ng g-1 m.m. Stężenia TZO w wątrobach były wielokrotnie wyższe niż w mięśniach. Tak jak w mięśniach również w wątrobach nie zaobserwowano różnic międzypłciowych w akumulacji tych związków. Różnice międzypłciowe stwierdzono jedynie w przypadku akumulacji TZO w gonadach. W gonadach żeńskich stężenia TZO były zbliżone do tych oznaczonych w mięśniach i wyższe niż w gonadach męskich, w których poziom zanieczyszczeń był najniższy i w których nie stwierdzono obecności heptachloru, β- i γ-HCH. Spośród cech biologicznych najważniejszym czynnikiem determinującym akumulację w każdym z trzech rodzajów tkanek była zawartość lipidów, jednak w przypadku mięśni istotne znaczenie miały również długość i masa ciała. Wpływ tych czynników biologicznych na akumulację TZO był zróżnicowany, ale zależny od płci ryb, tkanki i rodzaju związku chemicznego. Spośród oznaczanych zanieczyszczeń, jedynie stężenia PCB 118 i heptachloru przekraczały dopuszczalne limity.
The content of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in fish depends on the physicochemical properties of these compounds, biological and physiological characteristics and feeding ecology of fish, as well as the degree of contamination of the abiotic environment. Concentrations of 25 PCB congeners, DDT and its derivatives, α-, β- and γ-HCH as well as heptachlor were determined in the muscles, livers and gonads of turbot (Psetta maxima) caught in the southern Baltic in 2007-2009. The aim of the study was to determine the level of accumulation and inter-tissue distribution of these compounds and intersex differences in their accumulation in turbot. Median concentrations of Σ7PCB, Σm-oPCB, Σ25PCB, ΣDDT, ΣHCH and heptachlor in the muscles of males and females were similar, and for females amounted to 4.3, 1.0, 6.3, 5.4, 0.5 and 0.03 ng g-1 m.m., respectively. The concentrations of POPs in the livers were several times higher than in the muscles. As in the muscles, also in the livers no intersex differences in the accumulation of these compounds were observed. The intersex differences were found only in case of the accumulation of POPs in gonads. In the female gonads the concentrations of POPs were similar to those identified in the muscles and higher than in the male gonads, where the level of accumulation was the lowest and no presence of heptachlor, β- and γ-HCH was found. Among the biological characteristics, the most important factor determining the accumulation in each of the three tissue types was the lipid content, however in case of muscles, also the body length and weight played a significant role. The impact of these biological factors on the accumulation of POPs varied, depending on the gender of fish, tissue, and type of a chemical compound. Among the investigated contaminants, only the concentrations of PCB 118 and heptachlor exceeded acceptable limits.

Rozwój zrównoważony należy rozpatrywać uwzględniając: ład środowiskowy, społeczny i gospodarczy. Celem badań było określenie stopnia zrównoważenia rozwoju w aspektach społecznym i gospodarczym województwa warmińsko--mazurskiego. Badania teoretyczne, empiryczne i kompetencyjne prowadzono w latach 2003–2014, wykorzystując bazę danych Banku Danych Lokalnych. Stosując wskaźnikową metodę porównawczą, opracowano 50 wskaźników o różnych kierunkach preferencji.
Sustainable development should be viewed in the context of environmental, social and economic order. The objective of the present study has been to evaluate to what extent the development occurring in the Province of Warmia and Mazury (województwo warmińsko-mazurskie) is sustainable in terms of the society and economy. The theoretical, empirical and competence research was conducted in 2003–2014 obtained from the Regional Data Bank. Applying the comparative indicator method, 50 indicators were developed of opposite preference orientation.

W pracy podjęta została tematyka funkcjonowania spółdzielczych podmiotów finansowych mających na świecie i w Polsce długoletnią historię. Spółdzielcze kasy oszczędnościowo-kredytowe są instytucjami świadczącymi usługi podobne do bankowych, tworząc razem z nimi system finansowy. Idea działalności SKOK-ów jest odmienna i wywodzi się z zasad wzajemnej pomocy i solidaryzmu. Odmienne są również przepisy prawa regulujące funkcjonowanie tych podmiotów. Z przeprowadzonych badań opinii członków wybranych oddziałów Kasy Stefczyka w woj. warmińskomazurskim wynika, że jest to instytucja rozpoznawalna, ciesząca się zaufaniem i w pewnym zakresie konkurencyjna wobec banków.
The paper deals with the question of cooperative credit unions, financial institutions which have a long history in the world and in Poland. Cooperative savings and credit unions provide services similar to the ones offered by banks, together with which they constitute the financial system. Unlike banks, however, cooperative credit unions originate from different concepts, including mutuality and solidarity. Likewise, the legal regulations which govern CUs are different. The present survey conducted among members of Stefczyk Credit Union branches in the Province of Warmia and Mazury has shown that the Credit Union is an familiar institution , seen as trustworthy and competitive with banks.

Opis:
This article analyses sustainable development indicators for the assessment of bioproducts. It also determines criteria for the operationalization of bioproduct assessment on the basis of available literature on the subject and the opinions of entrepreneurs producing packaging made of petroleum derivative materials. The results of literature and questionnaire studies indicate that indicators used for the assessment should accurately reflect the process or state of affairs they present, and be clear for every stakeholder throughout the entire supply chain.
Artykuł miał na celu wskazanie ścieżki wyboru wskaźników zrównoważonego rozwoju do oceny bioproduktów. Jest próbą wyznaczenia kryteriów operacjonalizacji oceny bioproduktów na podstawie dostępnej literatury przedmiotu oraz opinii przedsiębiorców produkujących opakowania z tworzyw ropopochodnych. Wyniki badań literaturowych oraz ankietowych wskazują, że  wskaźniki stosowane do oceny powinny dokładnie odzwierciedlać proces lub stan rzeczy, który prezentują, być zrozumiałe dla każdego interesariusza na całym łańcuchu dostaw.

Opis:
Many documents produced by the EU, including the Europe 2020 Strategy, advocate the assumption that the European Union member states will strive to achieve sustainable development, which therefore needs to be measured with comparable parameters. The research objective was to evaluate sustainable growth indicators in Poland against the background of the same indicators in the European Union, and to ‘estimate’ chances to achieve the objectives set in the Europe 2020 Strategy. Two hypotheses were put forward in the study: a large number of indicators analysed by the Main Statistical Office in Poland allows forecasting the achievement of Poland’s objectives adopted in the Strategy; the most difficult to achieve will be the goal of financing research and development. In Poland, not all the changes were beneficial. The EU as a whole has the chance to approximate to the set value of the indicators. Both hypotheses were verified.
Wiele dokumentów opracowanych przez UE, w tym strategia „Europa 2020”, opowiada się za założeniem, że państwa członkowskie Unii Europejskiej będą dążyć do osiągnięcia zrównoważonego rozwoju, który w związku z tym należy mierzyć za pomocą porównywalnych parametrów. Celem badań była ocena wskaźników zrównoważonego wzrostu w Polsce na tle tych samych wskaźników w Unii Europejskiej oraz „oszacowanie” szans na osiągnięcie celów określonych w strategii „Europa 2020”. W badaniu wysunięto dwie hipotezy: duża liczba wskaźników analizowanych przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny w Polsce (GUS) pozwala prognozować realizację celów Polski przyjętych w strategii. Najtrudniejszy do osiągnięcia będzie cel finansowania badań i rozwoju. W Polsce nie wszystkie zmiany były korzystne. UE jako całość ma szansę zbliżyć się do ustalonej wartości wskaźników. Obie hipotezy zostały zweryfikowane.

Opis:
A series of netropsin and distamycin analogues was synthesised and investigated by molecular modelling. The lowest-energy conformations of four carbocyclic lexitropsins, potential carriers of alkylating elements, were obtained using the HyperChem 4.0 program, and compared with the DNA-lexitropsin crystal structures from the Brookhaven National Laboratory Protein Data Bank. A method for synthesis of carbocyclic lexitropsins was elaborated, with the use of a nitro group or azobenzene as precursors for the aromatic amino group. The influence of methoxy group in ortho position with respect to amide groups on the activity of the new compounds was investigated. All of the compounds tested showed high antitumour activity in the standard cell line of mammalian tumour MCF-7.
