    This article shows the system of unemployment benefits in Poland in relation to systems implemented in chosen European countries: German, France, Belgium and Sweden. The characteristic of particular system solution has been based on the following criteria: way and conditions of granting benefit, sources of financing, principles involved in fixing the amount and the period of the benefit. The analysis reveals that solutions are adjusted much better to the situation on the labour market, in the other countries than in Poland. The analysis shows that changes in mechanism of the benefits systems, in the last years, goes to the direction of stimulation of higher activity of the unemployed.

    The article contains a presentation of various systems of disability pensions in the economically developed countries of Western Europe, the United States and Зарап. The following elements of these systems have been described: mode of financing pensions, conditions of granting disability pensions, way of calculating the amount of pensions and additional allowances, valorization system. The solutions adopted with regard to particular elements are differentiated. Their review has allowed to formulate conclusions, which might find reference to the Polish conditions.

    Artykuł porusza problematykę statusu życia ludzkiego w prenatalnej fazie rozwoju. Przeprowadzona analiza treści odwołuje się do wybranych dokumentów Rady Europy z lat 1976–2003, dotyczących ludzkiej biogenezy. Najistotniejszym z nich jest Europejska Konwencja Bioetyczna. Przeprowadzony przez autora dyskurs ma charakter interdyscyplinarny, a poddawane badaniom zagadnienia wykraczają poza ramy nauk prawnych i społecznych. Istotą sporu, z prawnego punktu widzenia, jest brak koherentnej definicji terminów „istota ludzka” i „osoba”, stosowanych m.in. w EKB. Rozważania merytoryczne zamyka przykład orzecznictwa Europejskiego Trybunału Praw Człowieka, ilustrujący kondycję prawa międzynarodowego w omówionym zakresie, jest to orzeczenie w sprawie Thi-Nho Vo przeciwko Francji (sygn. 53924/00), złożonej przed Europejskim Trybunałem Praw Człowieka.
    The following article is the result of deliberations on the interdisciplinary debate conducted around the the status of prenatal human life in selected documents of the Council of Europe. The methodological basis for the studies was the content analysis of selected legislative documents announced by the CoE between 1976 and 2003. All divagations are taken from the legal and social perspective and focused on the European Convention on Human Rights and Bioethics. In this paper, I made a brief presentation of selected deeds established by the CoE that apply for the protection of human life in its prenatal stage. I have endeavored to present the difficulty of developing a coherent definition of the following concepts: “human being” and “person”. There is not any legal designation of this two terms. Furthermore, the following paper raise the topic of human rights and the scope of its protection. The summarization of this article contains of a verdict of the European Court of Human Rights of 8th July 2004 on Vo v. France.

    The article contains a review of trade union rights and competences in the sphere of their influence on the wage policy. It also makes an attempt at determining causes, which accounted for a limited utilization of these rights and competences by trade unions. The negative experience connected with operation of trade unions in the past should allow to create conditions that would allow trade unions to participate effectively in the shaping of the wage policy in the future . The basic condition here is decentralization of management. From the point of view of employees' interests it is also important that trade unions should be equipped with control rights in the sphere of management of the national economy and rationality of undertaken decisions.

    The age structure of societies living in EU member slates is changing significantly: the share of persons at retirement age in the total number of population is steadily growing, whereas the proportion of the pre-working age population is decreasing. This type of demographic processes influences the labour market, particularly its future condition. Some member states are anticipated to suffer from the labour force shortage, aggravated by the ageing of the economically active population. Another important consequence of the increasingly grow ing proportion of population at retirement age in its total number is macro-social problems with financing their old age pensions. This calls for stimulating economic activity in the older age groups - a difficult challenge faced by the social policies in the member states.

    Opis:
    The objective of the study was to determine the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the level of GSH and MDA in yolk and albumen of hen’s eggs. The experiment was carried out with 99 hens of three heritage breeds (‘Greenleg Partridge’ - group I, ‘Sussex’ - group II, ‘Rhode Island Red’ - group III). Layers were reared in the litter system and had outdoor access. Birds were fed ad libitum standard diets based on concentrates for laying hens and had free access to water throughout the experiment. All the groups were managed under uniform environmental (air humidity and temperature, lighting programme) and feeding conditions. At 48 weeks of age, 6 eggs from each group were collected. In the samples of egg yolks and albumens the concentration of GSH and MDA, and activity of SOD, GPx and CAT were estimated. The results were statistically analysed by one-way analysis of variance and significant differences were estimated with Duncan’s multiple range test. The highest activity of SOD, the highest level of GSH and the lowest level of MDA were characterised by eggs from ‘Sussex’ hens, which may indicate their best quality. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that the activity of antioxidant enzymes (mainly SOD) and the levels of GSH and MDA which occur in eggs may depend on the breed of hens.
