Opis:
As proved in the conducted analyses, one of the factors, which, to a large degree, exerts a negative influence on flight safety, is a potential possibility of a collision of an aircraft with birds, in particular at an airfield or in its vicinity [12, 16]. Various parts of an aircraft are subjected to damage. It appears that damage to the engine as well as penetration of the windshield is extremely dangerous. The consequence of a bird falling into the engine can be engine shutting down [6, 21], whereas penetrating the canopy can cause a serious injury to the pilot, making him unable to continue piloting an aircraft. The analysis of the literature of the object of study [7] shows that the most damage of the windshield occurs in the category of aircraft and small helicopters, whose certification requirements were not specified in this case [1, 19]. It should be remembered that apart from the compulsory experimental strength tests, conducted in laboratory conditions in order to meet certification requirements, there exist various theoretical methods, which are realized based on proper mathematical modelling of the strike event [5, 10]. Therefore, due to lack of certification requirements for the category of normal aeroplanes and small helicopters and a high degree of damage, especially to the cockpit canopy, it seems justified to conduct simulation of the strike impact by means of proper software. In order to perform the modelling in question, it is necessary to select a proper bird model and a suitable simulation method, including appropriate software. Based on the available literature devoted to the subject, there are several methods of modelling a bird shape. Investigations exploit various geometrical figures in order to model the bird shape, the most common one being a cylinder, an ellipsoid and a cylinder with hexagonal endings [10]. The aim of this article is to analyse the selected methods in order to choose one of them for further research connected with the simulation of bird-strike events into a cockpit windshield of selected aircraft.

Opis:
The article presents simulation results of a bird strike with a helicopter windshield of small helicopter category. It turns out that there are no certification requirements regarding windshield of this category. Therefore Agusta A109 helicopter as a representing this helicopter category has been chosen for researcher. The simulations were conducted on the basis of LS-DYNA software by means of the SPH method for bird model shape of cylinder with hemispherical endings for the speed of Vc = 285 km/h. The analyses regarded various angles of the bird model impact into windshield. As a result of the simulations, comparative analyses in the aspect of time curves of the kinetic energy, velocity, and windshield deformation were achieved. The analysis shows that at smaller angles of attack, the bird’s model has a higher speed at the moment of impact, and thus greater kinetic energy, because it did not lose speed as a result of the collision. In addition, the deflection of the windshield is smaller. In some cases, the deflection of the windshield may be observed, which indicates the elastic response of the system. In case of impact in the normal direction to the surface of the glass, the bird’s model practically pierces it. The use of a thicker pane translates into less deformation of the pane, but causes its destruction at the connection point with the helicopter carrier structure.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to describe simulation results of a bird strike with a helicopter windshield. The simulation was performed based on LS-DYNA software by means of the SPH and Lagrangian methods. For the sake of the analysis, we selected a light helicopter, which is not covered by any certification requirements with regard to the windshield. The simulations were conducted for various bird shapes (sphere, cylinder, cylinder with hemispherical endings) for the cruising speed of Vc = 285 km/h. As a result of the simulations, we achieved comparative analyses of the methods at stake in the aspect of time curves of the kinetic energy, velocity and windshield deformation. The findings are depicted graphically and are presented in the form of charts. The deformations that were obtained as a result of the conducted tests may be referred to the data included in the AAIB report, which described the case of damaging the Agusta A-109C helicopter due to a collision with a seagull at the speed of approximately 278 km/h. The deformations obtained through numerical simulation do not make an accurate representation of this type of damage as in the case of a real one. Nevertheless, they reveal its character. While examining the test simulations from the quantity viewpoint, it is possible to observe slight discrepancies related to the applied approaches of bird modelling. In case of the kinetic energy, the slight discrepancies in the initial moment stem from rounding the mass of a single particle of the model, by means of the SPH method. The velocity curves of the accepted centre of the bird model vary considerably, depending upon its shape, which is linked with the deformation manner of the particular models.

Opis:
This article presents research results concerning the determination of the position of a Cessna 172 aircraft by means of the DGPS positioning method. The position of the aircraft was recovered on the basis of P1/P2 code observations in the GPS navigation system. The coordinates of the aircraft were designated due to the application of the Kalman forward-filtering method. The numerical calculations were conducted using RTKLIB software in the RTKPOST module. In the scientific experiment, the authors used research materials from the test flight conducted by a Cessna 172 aircraft in the area of Dęblin in the Lublin Voivodeship in south-eastern Poland. The research experiment exploited navigation data and GPS observation data recorded by the geodetic Topcon Hiper Pro receiver mounted in the cockpit of the Cessna 172 and installed on the REF1 reference station. The typical accuracy for recovering the position of the Cessna 172 with the DGPS method exceeds in the region of 2 m. In addition, the authors specify the parameters of availability, integrity and continuity of GNSS satellite positioning in air navigation. The obtained findings of the scientific experiment were compared with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO’s) technical standards.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to present the results of GLONASS positioning in kinematic mode in air navigation. The flight experiment was conducted at Dęblin Airfield on a Cessna 172 aircraft. The aircraft position was recovered on the basis of the single-point positioning (SPP) method of the GLONASS code observations. The numerical computations of aircraft coordinates were executed in the RTKPOST library of the RTKLIB software. The standard deviations in aircraft position in a BLh geodetic frame were checked with the ICAO standards on civil aviation for the GLONASS system. The typical accuracy of aircraft positioning on the horizontal plane is better than 12 m, whereas, on a vertical plane, it is better than 17 m. In this paper, standard deviations in aircraft position were also compared with the theoretical accuracy of the non-precision approach (NPA) landing procedure for the GNSS system. In this paper, the MRSE parameter was also calculated during the flight test.

Opis:
The article presents the possibility of applying the differential technique RTK-OTF to recover the position of the aircraft in the post-processing mode. Within the framework of the conducted research, the authors designated the geocentric coordinates XYZ of the aircraft and compared them. In the research experiment, they used archive materials from the test flight of the aircraft Cessna 172 around the airfield in Deblin on 1 June 2010. The actual position of the aircraft Cessna 172 was recovered on the basis of GPS kinematic observations registered by the receiver Topcon HiperPro mounted on board the aircraft. In the calculations, the authors also used static GPS observations from the reference station REF1 as well as virtual reference stations VirA and VirB. The final coordinates of the aircraft Cessna 172 with three independent determinations RTK-OTF were defined in the AOSS v.2.0 programme. On this basis, they made verification of accuracy in determining XYZ coordinates of the aircraft Cessna 172. The dispersion of results for the difference in the designation of the X coordinate of the aircraft ranges from –0.19 m to +0.05 m. On the other hand, the size of the difference in the designation of Y-coordinate of the aircraft ranges from –0.07 m to +0.11 m. In addition, the dispersion of the results for the difference in the designation of the Z coordinate of the aircraft is from 0.19 m to +0.12 m.
