    In this paper we examine the subject of the influence of self-esteem and the feeling of loneliness on the satisfaction with life of residents of social welfare homes. The level of satisfaction with life is closely connected to one’s self-esteem. The higher positive perception of oneself, the higher satisfaction with life, and vice versa. The feeling of loneliness among the residents of round-the-clock nursing facilities is an important indicator for actions aimed at the reduction loneliness.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie i przybliżenie problematyki wpływu samooceny i poczucia samotności na zadowolenie z życia u pensjonariuszy domów pomocy społecznej. Poziom zadowolenia z życia jest ściśle związany z samooceną danego człowieka. Wraz ze wzrostem pozytywnego postrzegania siebie, zwiększa się zadowolenie z życia i na odwrót. Poczucie osamotnienia u osób korzystających z całodobowych placówek świadczących pomoc jest ważnym wskaźnikiem i sygnałem do prowadzenia działań mających na celu minimalizację tego zjawiska.

    The aim of the paper is to present the theoretical basis and factorial structure of the Polish adaptation of the Religious and Spiritual Struggles Scale – RSSS-PL. We present the results of two studies. Study 1 included an exploratory factor analysis, which showed that the Polish adaptation of the RSSS, like the original version, measures six domains of religious or spiritual struggle: divine (negative emotions centered on beliefs about God or perceived relationship with God), demonic (concern that the devil or evil spirits are attacking you or causing negative events), moral (wrestling with attempts to follow moral principles; worry or guilt about perceived offenses by the self), ultimate meaning (concern about not perceiving deep meaning in one’s life), interpersonal (concern about negative experiences with religious people or institutions; interpersonal conflict around religious issues), and doubt (feeling troubled by doubts or questions about one’s r / s beliefs). In Study 2, we confirmed the six-factor structure of the Polish adaptation of the RSSS using the confirmatory factor analysis. The RSSS-PL subscales had high reliability indices and high validity in relation to measures of religiousness and stress. This method has acceptable psychometric properties and may serve as a valuable tool in studies on religion as a source of struggles.

    During the construction of the S-3 road near Gorzów Wielkopolski, a sedimentary succession of the Eemian Interglacial and the older part of the Weichselian Glaciation were exposed. The succession, ~22 m thick, consists of lacustrine and fluvioglacial deposits. Lake sediments, mainly calcareous gyttja with peat intercalations, represent the infills of two palaeolakes. The almost complete skeleton of a forest rhinoceros, Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis, and a bone of the fallow deer Dama dama were found in the older lake deposits. Mollusc shells were numerous in both lake sequences, analysis of which revealed two types of assemblage, representing the coastal, littoral zone of a shallow lake with a muddy bottom. The sequence of mollusc communities observed in vertical succession allowed reconstruction of environmental changes during deposition. Several hydrological changes have been recognized within the palaeolake, especially water level fluctuations probably due to climate change.
