Objective: The aim of this study was to establish a rapid and accurate method for the detection of the Streptococcus agalactiae antibody (SA-Ab) to determine the presence of the bovine mastitis (BM)-causative pathogen. Methods: The multi-subunit fusion protein rSip-Pgk-FbsA was prokaryotically expressed and purified. The triple activities of the membrane surface-associated proteins Sip, phosphoglycerate kinase (Pgk), and fibronectin (FbsA) were used as the diagnostic antigens to establish an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method for the detection of SA-Ab in BM. Results: The optimal antigen coating concentration was 2 μg/mL, the optimal serum dilution was 1:160, and the optimal dilution of the enzyme-labeled secondary antibody was 1:6000. The sensitivity, specificity, and repeatability tests showed that the method established in this study had no cross-reaction with antibodies to Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis in the sera. The results of the sensitivity test showed that a positive result could be obtained even if the serum dilution reached 1:12,800, indicating the high sensitivity and good repeatability of the method. The positive coincidence rate of this method was 98.6%, which is higher than that of previous tests established with the Sip or Pgk mono-antigen fusion protein, respectively, demonstrating the relatively higher sensitivity of this newly established method. The detection rate for 389 clinical samples was 46.53%. Conclusions: The indirect ELISA method established in this study could provide a more accurate and reliable serological method for the rapid detection of S. agalactiae in cases of BM.

Opis:
A novel optical approach to generating a chirped microwave signal by using a nonuniformly spaced finite impulse response filter is proposed and demonstrated. In this scheme, a narrowband Gaussian pulse is used as the original chirped-free signal, which is easy to be acquired. To eliminate the need of a wideband chirped-free signal, a mixer and a radio frequency signal are used to up-convert the spectrum of the original Gaussian signal. Therefore, the required frequency response can be calculated and reconstructed by a finite impulse response filter with nonuniformly spaced taps. Besides, a dual drive Mach–Zehnder modulator is used to realize single sideband modulation of the chirpedfree signal. Thus, the transfer function induced by the fiber dispersion is eliminated and the chirped microwave signal with any central frequency can be generated. In this paper, a design example of a filter with a central frequency of 10GHz is provided, and generation of the target chirped microwave signal is also demonstrated by numerical simulations.

Drought variability of Kyrgyzstan is an important component of climate change of high Asia. Long-term information about the history of drought is, however, limited because the instrumental records are short. Here, we developed three chronologies for juniper trees (Juniperus turkestanica) under different microsite conditions in the Gulcha River Basin, Kyrgyzstan. The three chronologies (GUL, GUR and GUD) were compared with climate data which covered the study area. Growth of the GUL site correlates positively with May–June precipitation of the current growing season and September precipitation of the previous year, but negatively with temperatures of prior July, current May and July. Growth of the GUR site correlates positively with precipitation of current May and September, and negatively with temperature of current June and July. Ring width at GUD site is negatively correlated with temperature of the current May and July, and positively correlated with precipitation of prior December and current September. Response analysis shows that water availability is the main factor limiting the radial growth of juniper trees at the GUL and GUD sites. Based on the relationships derived from climate response analyses, the potential of tree-ring chronologies from this species to provide drought reconstructions in the Gulcha River Basin has been established. The GUL chronology and other moisture sensitive tree-ring series from high Asia capture the recent wetting trend. The records contribute to a growing tree-ring network for high Asia, including sites in China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Railway tunnel inspection and monitoring has predominantly been a visual and manual procedure, which is time-consuming and subjective, giving rise to variance in standards and quality. Thus, alternative, novel, automated techniques need to be developed, for more efficient and reliable tunnel examination. The reported research aimed to investigate the application of a laser scanning technique for the inspection of tunnel degradation and structural integrity. The proposed method may either substitute or supplement traditional survey techniques, being more efficient, and contributing thus to the standardisation of tunnel inspections. For the purpose of investigating the applicability and accuracy of laser scanning in tunnels, a set of tunnel lining models was constructed for laboratory tests, with the objective of determining the quality of the imaging. Initial tests were carried out using a performant laser scanner and demonstrated the feasibility of the concept. As a result, refined laboratory models were built, and experiments conducted, to establish the quality and precision of laser scanning imaging, for condition monitoring of tunnels. The experimental results indicate that the laser scanning technique used in this research has high potential for detecting the tunnel condition, monitoring the depth of weathered mortar, spalling bricks etc. with high accuracy in static scanning mode.
Kontrola i monitoring tuneli kolejowych w przeważającej mierze to procedura, która jest czasochłonna i subiektywna, co powoduje zróżnicowanie standardów i jakości badań. Stąd też muszą być opracowane alternatywe, nowoczesne, zautomatyzowane techniki do bardziej skutecznych i rzetelnych badań. Przedstawione badania miały na celu wskazanie zastosowania techniki skanowania laserowego do kontroli degradacji tunelu i integralności strukturalnej. Proponowana metoda może zastąpić, bądź uzupełnienić, tradycyjne techniki pomiarowe. Jest ona bardziej wydajna i może przyczynić się do standaryzacji kontroli tuneli. Aby zbadać przydatności i dokładności skanowania laserowego w tunelach, skonstruowano zestaw modeli do testów labolatoryjnych, w celu określenia jakości obrazów. Wyniki doświadczalne wskazują, że technika skanowania laserowego zastosowana w badaniu ma wysoki potencjał do charakteryzowania stanu tunelu, monitorowania głębokości zwietrzenia zaprawy, odpryskiwania cegieł itp., z dużą dokładnością w trybie statycznym skanowania.

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is at the cross-roads, with the requirement to compete with cutting-edge technologies in biosciences, mostly based on analytical performances dealing with the super-resolutions: time, lateral/spatial, and contrast. IR microscopy is diffraction limited in most cases, thus not accessing to high lateral/spatial resolutions. Additionally, it has a poor signal-to-noise ratio on a single scan, thus requiring long-lasting acquisitions that are not suitable to analyze ns-lasting biochemical events. However, it is unique because it provides a broad global chemical information of the sample contents. It is also unique because it does not require heavy sample preparation nor labeling and can be coupled to other techniques (multimodality). Finally, it is again unique because it provides quantitative measurements, thus suitable for 1D to 4D data exploitation procedures. This short review shows that IR spectroscopy will be certainly subjected to a second century of innovations, maintaining its influence in the panorama of cutting-edge analytical techniques.

Toluene mono-nitration in a semi-batch reactor was investigated with reaction calorimeter (RC1). The mixed acid HNO3/H2SO4/H2O (wt%) was used in proportion 13/66/21, which is similar to industrial parameters. The exothermic rates at different reaction temperatures were compared, and then the curves of heat generation rate after dosing were analyzed. The Maximal Temperature attainable by runaway of the desired Synthetic Reaction (MTSR) under different conditions were calculated for the course hazard evaluation. The results showed that the average reaction heat of mono-nitration was between 169.07~177.11 kJ mol-1, and the special heat of reactant was about 2 kJ kg-1 K-1. Average Ea of second order kinetic was about 30 kJ mol-1, and reaction rate was 10-4 mol s-1 l-1 order of magnitude when the strength of sulphuric acid was about 73.5%. It was also found that when temperature or stirring speed increases, the potential heat accumulation decreases.

Opis:
Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are commonly used in industries such as oil and natural gas, transportation, electric, water and wastewater, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, food and beverage, as well as discrete manufacturing (e.g., automotive, aerospace, and durable goods.) SCADA systems are generally used to control dispersed assets using centralized data acquisition and supervisory control. Originally, ICS implementations were susceptible primarily to local threats because most of their components were located in physically secure areas (i.e., ICS components were not connected to IT networks or systems). The trend toward integrating ICS systems with IT networks (e.g., efficiency and the Internet of Things) provides significantly less isolation for ICS from the outside world thus creating greater risk due to external threats. Albeit, the availability of ICS/SCADA systems is critical to assuring safety, security and profitability. Such systems form the backbone of our national cyber-physical infrastructure. Herein, we extend the concept of mean failure cost (MFC) to address quantifying availability to harmonize well with ICS security risk assessment. This new measure is based on the classic formulation of Availability combined with Mean Failure Cost (MFC). The metric offers a computational basis to estimate the availability of a system in terms of the loss that each stakeholder stands to sustain as a result of security violations or breakdowns (e.g., deliberate malicious failures).

Experimental study was carried out on the thermo physical parameter of loose coal bulk, based on hot-wired method, the relationship between thermo physical parameter of loose coal bulk and each influence factors obtained, and the result shows that the thermal conductivity increased and thermal capacity decreased on condition that the coal rank increased, with the increasing of water content, thermal conductivity and thermal capacity are both have the trend of ascent. Within the experimental temperature limit (< 110 degrees of Celsius), thermal conductivity shows linear growth trend with the increasing of temperature. When voidage increased, thermal conductivity decreased, but the relevance between thermal capacity and voidage is unnoticeable.
Wyniki badań eksperymentalnych przeprowadzonych w celu określenia parametrów termofizycznych luźnych brył węgla metodą "gorącej nici" (ang. hot-wire method) i zależności pomiędzy parametrem termofizycznym luźnych brył węgla a każdym z uzyskanych współczynników wpływu pokazują wzrost przewodności cieplnej i obniżenie pojemności cieplnej wraz z poprawą jakości węgla. Przy zwiększaniu zawartości wody przewodność cieplna i pojemność cieplna wykazują tendencje wzrostowe. W badanym zakresie temperatur (< 110 stopni Celsjusza) przewodność cieplna wzrasta liniowo wraz ze wzrostem temperatury. Zwiększenie przestrzeni pomiędzy elementami skutkowało obniżeniem przewodności cieplnej, jednak nie zaobserwowano związku pomiędzy pojemnością cieplną a większą przestrzenią między elementami.

Opis:
Based on compressive sensing and log operation, a new image compression-encryption algorithm is proposed, which accomplishes encryption and compression simultaneously. The proposed image compression-encryption algorithm takes advantage of not only the physical realizability of partial Hadamard matrix, but also the resistance of the chosen-plaintext attack since all the elements in the partial Hadamard matrix are 1, –1 or log 1 = 0. The proposed algorithm is sensitive to the key and it can resist various common attacks. The simulation results verify the validity and reliability of the proposed image compression-encryption algorithm.

One of the most important problems in horticultural seed science and technology nowadays is looking for new methods to improve seed quality. Especially interesting are the ones, in which compounds of natural origin are used. One of such groups is ethereal oils from plants. The commercial seed samples of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. ‘Dumka’) were soaked in 9 different treatments of 5% alcoholic solution of camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora L.) ethereal oil and 9 different treatments of 5% alcoholic solution of patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) ethereal oil. Then the seeds were routinely tested for seed germination, the length of the received seedlings was also measured and the seeds health status was evaluated. The tested ethereal oils had no effect on the germination of lettuce seeds. However, soaking the seeds in the ethereal oils solutions did decrease the percentage of dead seeds in the tested samples. Soaking of the seeds in the ethereal oils solutions also increased the percentage of healthy ungerminated seeds. Treating the seeds with the concentrations of the ethereal oils solutions, although had no effect on their germination, still shortened the length of seedlings. Moreover, the used ethereal oils lowered the amount of identified Alternaria alternata and Cladosporium sphaerospermum fungi on the seeds.
Jednym z najważniejszych problemów nasiennictwa ogrodniczego dziś jest poszukiwanie nowych metod poprawy jakości nasion. Szczególnie interesujące są te z nich, w których wykorzystuje się substancje naturalne. Jedną z takich grup są olejki eteryczne z roślin. Nasiona handlowe sałaty (Lactuca sativa L.) odmiany Dumka potraktowano na 9 różnych sposobów 5% alkoholowym roztworem olejku eterycznego z drzewa kamforowego (Cinnamomum camphora L.) i na 9 różnych sposobów 5% alkoholowym roztworem olejku eterycznego z paczuli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). Następnie nasiona poddano rutynowej ocenie kiełkowania, zmierzono długość otrzymanych siewek i oceniono zdrowotność nasion. Badane olejki eteryczne nie wpłynęły na kiełkowanie nasion sałaty, natomiast zmniejszyły odsetek martwych nasion w badanych próbach. Moczenie nasion w badanych roztworach olejków zwiększyło także odsetek nasion zdrowych niekiełkujących. Traktowanie nasion roztworami olejków eterycznych o wyższych stężeniach, choć nie wpłynęło na ich kiełkowanie, to jednak skróciło długość otrzymanych z nich siewek. Ponadto stosowane olejki eteryczne obniżyły ilość oznaczonych na nasionach grzybów: Alternaria alternata i Cladosporium sphaerospermum.

This study aimed to evaluate breast pain and sports bra usage reported by Chinese women and to analyse whether they were affected by age, education, occupation, income or breast size. Four hundred and four Chinese women completed a questionnaire to determine their breast pain and its frequency as well as sports bra usage. Although more than 60% of Chinese women experienced breast pain during exercise, only 40% of them had ever worn a sports bra. The high percentage of participants who experienced breast pain and low percentage of sports bra usage confirmed the need to educate Chinese women on sport bra fit, design and reasons for wearing sports bras. Age, bra size and income level should be considered when implementing these educational programs.
Celem badania była ocena bólu piersi i użytkowania biustonosza sportowego oraz analiza wyników ze względu na wiek, wykształcenie, zawód, dochód i rozmiar piersi użytkowniczek. Czterysta cztery chińskie kobiety wypełniły kwestionariusz w celu określenia bólu piersi i jego częstotliwości, a także użycia biustonosza sportowego. Chociaż ponad 60% chińskich kobiet doświadczyło bólu podczas ćwiczeń, tylko 40% z nich nosiło stanik sportowy. Wysoki odsetek uczestniczek, które doświadczyły bólu piersi i niskiego odsetka użycia biustonosza sportowego, potwierdziły potrzebę edukowania chińskich kobiet na temat sportowego dopasowania biustonosza, projektowania i powodów noszenia sportowych biustonoszy. With the increasing penetration rate of grid-connected renewable energy generation, the problem of grid voltage excursion becomes an important issue that needs to be solved urgently. As a new type of voltage regulation control method, electric spring (ES) can alleviate the fluctuations of renewable energy output effectively. In this paper, the background and basic principle of the electric spring are introduced firstly. Then, considering the influence of an electric spring on noncritical load voltage, noncritical loads are classified reasonably, and based on the electric spring phasor diagram, the control method to meet the noncritical load voltage constraint is proposed. This control method can meet the requirements of voltage excursions of different kinds of noncritical load, increase the connection capacity of the noncritical load and improve the voltage stabilization capacity of the electric spring. Finally, through the simulation case, the feasibility and validity of electric spring theory and the proposed control method are verified.

In this study, a modified starch was utilized to selectively separate barite from fluorite. The results of flotation tests showed that highly selective separation of fluorite from barite was obtained when 250 mg/dm3 of modified starch and 13.16×10−5 mol/dm3 sodium oleate was used in neutral solutions. FTIR spectra results showed that the modified starch can adsorb on the fluorite and barite surfaces. Zeta potential analyses indicated that the modified starch had little effect on adsorption of sodium oleate on the fluorite surface, although it interfered with the adsorption of sodium oleate on the barite surface. Contact angle measurements results corresponded well with the flotation results.

Opis:
In order to optimize the leaching process of weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore with magnesium salts, the influence of different flow rate, concentration of magnesium ions, initial pH of magnesium salts solution and experimental temperature on the mass transfer process of rare earth and aluminum was investigated in the case of using magnesium salts as leaching agent. The relationship between the flow rate μ and the HETP (Height Equivalent of Theoretical Plate) is in accordance with the Van Deemter equation when magnesium salts were used as leaching agent. The optimum condition for rare earth and aluminum were 0.4 cm3/min of flow rate and 0.2 mol/dm3 of magnesium ion concentration of magnesium sulfate, magnesium chloride and magnesium nitrate respectively. Under this condition the mass transfer efficiency of rare earth and aluminum with three kinds of magnesium salts follow the order of Mg(NO3)2>Mg(Cl)2>MgSO4. High temperature contributes to improving the mass transfer efficiency of rare earth and aluminum. Magnesium nitrate as the leaching agent can get the highest leaching mass transfer efficiency of rare earth and magnesium sulfate as the leaching agent can make the impurity leaching and mass transfer efficiency of Al is the lowest.
