NATO Tactical Communications Interoperability
Opis:
The lack of interoperability in tactical communications systems has been a known fact in the North AtlanticTreaty Organization (NATO) since the end of the Cold War. This condition still exists today. The only alternative to obtain tactical communications systems with the interoperability necessitated by future operational requirements are through the establishment of NATO standards. This paper examines the tactical communications systems Post 2000 (TACOMS) project whose aim is to develop technical standards that will allow for achievement of interoperability between multinational tactical communications networks.

Opis:
The main aim of this work is to investigate the use of new lanthanum bromide (LaBr3) in whole body PET (WB-PET) scanners and to compare the obtained results with those for BGO and LSO crystals which are currently used in conventional and dedicated PET systems. Our results show that there is a gain in noise effective count rate (NECR) arising from the reduced scatter and random fractions in a LaBr3 scanner. The spatial resolution of the WB-PET with LaBr3 is slightly worse than the LSO and BGO crystals because of its low density and effective atomic number. But our study showed the increased NECR, excellent energy resolution and low decay time of LaBr3 which promise a significant improvement in WB-PET performances especially for narrow coincidence windows.

Opis:
An agreement upon the terms of company transactions is aggravated by the existence of differ-ent information levels concerning the negotiation parties; this can be seen as a basic cause for divergent price expectations. Hence, the question is how the existing differences in price expectations of the transaction parties can be handled to reach a consensus, even when there is no area of agreement in the initial round of negotiations. Earn-outs are an interesting approach in overcoming divergent price expectations by making the purchase price dependent on the future performance of the company. However, formulating and implementing earn-outs may have a substantial potential for conflict. The present contribution shows which advantages and disadvantages the transaction parties face if an agreement regarding earn-outs is made.

Opis:
Combustion performance of emerging raw marine biomass called Posidonia oceanica (PO) was investigated using TGA apparatus and a bubbling fluidized-bed batch reactor. The kinetic mechanism and parameters of the combustion process were determined. The Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) method and data fitting method were analyzed. It was observed that a model based on consecutive processes: devolatilisation and char combustion for two fractions of PO (holocellulose and lignin), is the best model for the analyzed cases. Combustion performance was observed using a BFB reactor and the composition of flue gas after combustion was analyzed, and the conversion of NOx and SO2 was taken into account. The relatively low SO2 emission in the case of PO combustion can be attributed to the impact of the sulphur self-retention (SSR) process. The results were compared to the combustion of wood biomass and Turow lignite. The results showed the good combustion performance of PO.

Opis:
Scaphitid ammonites are described and illustrated from the Upper Cretaceous of the coastal region of north-eastern South Africa. Scaphites kieslingswaldensis Langenhan and Grundey, 1891, Scaphites manasoaensis Collignon, 1965, and Yezoites concinna sp. nov. occur in the Coniacian part of the St Lucia Formation in northern KwaZulu-Natal. A further Yezoites sp. may also be from this level. Argentoscaphites corrugatus sp. nov. occurs in the Santonian to Lower Campanian Mzamba Formation on the northernmost coast of Eastern Cape Province. Yezoites australis sp. nov. occurs in the Upper Santonian part of the St Lucia and Mzamba formations of these areas, and Scaphites reesidei Collignon, 1969, is recorded from the Lower Campanian part of the Mzamba Formation. The scaphitid assemblage includes species previously described from Western Europe and Madagascar, together with Argentoscaphites, previously known only from Patagonia (and possibly South India). Dimorphism is recognised in Scaphites reesidei, Yezoites concinna sp. nov. and Y. australis sp. nov. Argentoscaphites corrugatus sp. nov. and Yezoites sp. are represented by microconchs only. Dimorphism has not been recognised in Scaphites kieslingswaldensis.

Opis:
In this paper, a three-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core for a resonant inductor is proposed. The electromagnetic and thermal field models are built using a 3D finite element method. Compared with the conventional signal-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core, the simulation and analysis results show that the proposed three-air-gapped ferrite core resonant inductor can reduce eddy-current loss and decrease temperature rise. In addition, the optimal position of air-gapped is presented.
