    In the twenty-first century in Francis’, Benedict XVI and John Paul II teaching it is obvious that they desire to restore the respect towards the elderly people in family and estimate their role as well as their place in it. Popes want the elderly people to be respected and cared with proper concern. Popes prove that the elderly people are not only the beneficiaries but also the donors in family. Therefore, the elderly people are precious support to the young generations, as they pass the young people wisdom as well as experience of life, the history of the family and the nation, finally, they become the witnesses of faith. According to the aforementioned popes, the respect towards the elderly people, was some kind of determinant of humanism in the past. Undoubtedly, it also should be such now, in order to bear witness the quality of the twenty-first century civilization positively.
    W XXI wieku nauczanie papieży Franciszka, Benedykta XVI i Jana Pawła II, ukazując rolę i miejsce osób starszych w rodzinie, przywraca im szacunek. Papieże chcą, by osoby w podeszłym wieku były szanowane i z właściwą uwagą otoczone troską. Papieże udowadniają, że ludzie starsi są nie tylko beneficjentami, lecz także dawcami w rodzinie. Dlatego seniorzy stanowią cenne oparcie dla młodszych pokoleń, ponieważ niosą mądrość i doświadczenie życiowe, historię rodziny i narodu, a także są świadkami wiary. Według wymienionych wyżej papieży, w przeszłości szacunek wobec osób starszych był pewnego rodzaju czynnikiem warunkującym humanizm. Niewątpliwie tak również powinno być i teraz, aby pozytywnie świadczyć o jakości cywilizacji XXI wieku.

    Opis:
    The subject of the article is the issue of the youth religious education at vocational secondary schools after the school reform which was carried out in Poland after 1932. There are two main lines considered in this article, namely; transfer of the truths of faith and moral and religious upbringing. The first one is connected with passing on the dogmatic and ethical contents, and the other one is connected with the religious formation. In this way the teaching program of religion shows students theoretical and practical hints which influence the quality of the Christian life. It does not only concern shaping the Catholic worldview and motivating to practice the faith, but also upbringing to fulfilling jobs with the respect of law and the Christian values.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest problematyka zjazdów katechetycznych prefektów szkolnych w Królestwie Polskim, które odbywały się w Częstochowie i w Warszawie w latach 1906–1917. Całość zagadnienia ujęto w sposób sumaryczny, prezentując je w dwóch aspektach: organizacyjnym (przygotowania i przebieg) i merytorycznym (referaty, dyskusje, postulaty). Dzięki temu przedstawiono nie tylko historię zjazdów katechetycznych w zaborze rosyjskim, lecz także ich dorobek związany z teorią i praktyką katechetyczną tego okresu w tak ważnych obszarach, jak: programy i podręczniki do nauki religii, kwalifikacje i kompetencje zawodowe prefektów szkolnych, duszpasterstwo katechetyczne dzieci i młodzieży oraz tworzenie struktur stowarzyszenia katechetów polskich.

    Artykuł ma na celu uporządkowanie danych dotyczących Drugiego Zjazdu Prefektów Szkolnych Królestwa Polskiego, który miał miejsce w Warszawie w dniach od 21 do 23 sierpnia 1906 roku. W artykule przedstawiono problematykę edukacji religijnej omawianej na zjeździe, związanej z wychowaniem i kształceniem religijnym dzieci i młodzieży, w zakresie podejmowania oddziaływań wychowawczych i kształcących w ramach duszpasterstwa katechetycznego w szkole. Artykuł nakreśla koncepcję edukacji religijnej w szkołach początkowych i średnich na ziemiach polskich zaboru rosyjskiego na początku XX wieku.      
    The aim of the paper is to order data on the Second Congress of School Prefects of the Kingdom of Poland which took place in Warsaw from 21st to 23rd August 1906. It presents the issues of religious education discussed at the congress and related to the upbringing and religious education of children and young people in terms of undertaking educational and formative actions within the framework of catechetical pastoral ministry at school. The paper outlines the concept of religious education in primary and secondary schools in the Polish territories of the Russian partition zone at the beginning of the 20th century.

    The subject of the article is the issue of developing a uniform religious education curriculum for secondary schools in the Kingdom of Poland. These activities were shown in connection with catechetical congresses of school prefects in the first decade of the 20th century in the Russian partition. These meetings became an opportunity to exchange ideas on the concepts of future religious education curricula and an attempt to develop a common version of the curriculum for the entire Kingdom of Poland. The main sources that were researched are materials from catechetical congresses of school prefects from that period, as well as framework and detailed curricula defining the content of religious teaching addressed to junior high school students.
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest problematyka tworzenia jednolitego programu nauki religii dla szkół średnich w Królestwie Polskim. Działania te zostały ukazane w powiązaniu ze zjazdami katechetycznymi prefektów szkolnych w pierwszej dekadzie XX wieku w zaborze rosyjskim. Spotkania te stały się w tym czasie okazją do wymiany myśli na temat koncepcji przyszłych programów nauczania religii i próbą stworzenia wspólnej wersji programowej dla całego Królestwa Polskiego. Głównymi źródłami, które zostały przebadane, są materiały ze zjazdów katechetycznych prefektów szkolnych z tego okresu oraz programy ramowe i szczegółowe definiujące treści nauczania religijnego adresowanego do uczniów szkół gimnazjalnych.

    Coraz częściej podejmuje się inicjatywy, których celem jest zwrócenie społeczeństwu uwagi na starszą część populacji. W ten nurt wpisuje się także działalność katechetyczna Kościoła. Na katechezie podejmuje się bowiem problematykę starości i tak formuje uczniów, by szanowali osoby starsze, otoczyli je należną troską, a także zrozumieli i zaakceptowali ich sytuację życiową oraz potrzeby. Pomocą w realizacji tych zadań służą podręczniki do nauki religii, między innymi podręczniki z serii Drogi świadków Chrystusa. Podkreślają one istotną rolę starszej generacji w rodzinie i społeczeństwie i wzywają młodzież do odpowiedniego ich traktowania w duchu humanizmu i chrześcijańskiej miłości.
    More and more frequently initiatives aiming at paying society attention to the older people have been taken up. Church catechetical activity also writes itself into this course. During catechesis the old age issues are dealt with and pupils are educated this way so that they respect elderly people, take care of them properly as well as understand and accept their life conditions and needs. Textbooks for teaching religion, e. g. books like "The ways of Christ's witnesses" series, play supportive role in the realization of mentioned tasks. These handbooks underline the crucial way of elderly people generation in family and society calling the youth to proper treating them in the spirit of humanism and christian love.
    Più spesso si impegna nelle iniziative che richiamano l’attenzione dell’opinione pubblica alla parte più anziana della popolazione. Questa tendenza è presente anche nell’attività catechistica della Chiesa. La catechesi prende, infatti, i problemi della vecchiaia, e forma gli studenti così che loro possano rispettare gli anziani, dargli le dovute cure e comprendere ed accettare la loro situazione di vita e le loro esigenze. A tal scopo aiutano libri per l’insegnamento della religione, tra gli altri quelli di Vie dei testimoni del Cristo. Essi sottolineano il ruolo importante degli anziani nella famiglia e nella società e invitano i giovani di appropriarsi il loro trattamento nello spirito dell’umanesimo e dell’amore cristiano.

    Polish pedagogical thought of the interwar period pointed out the importance of forming the citizens’ attitude towards the state.. Cultivation of pro-state attitudes was closely related to the propagation of work ethos. Those educational actions were also undertaken in schools, among others, in the course of religious education. The concept of work was presented in such a way as to show the pupils the value of work, evoke positive attitudes towards their chosen professions, encourage them to work honestly and responsibly, to form a mature personality expressed by the quality of their performed work. All those actions were aimed at strengthening the power and welfare of the state. For that reason, work was perceived in the categories of a patriotic duty. In a way, it was similar to what we call work patriotism in our society these days

    The educational changes launched in Poland in 1932 included the establishment of new types of schools, such as seven-year common schools and four-year middle schools. Therefore, there was a need for school curricula that would correspond to the new educational system. The National Board of Education first prepared the preliminary drafts and subsequently passed the school curricula. The Catechetic and Pedagogical Monthly analyzed them over the span of the 1930s. Not only the analyses and their results were published in the magazine, but also the contents of the curricula. That is why in pre-war Poland this Catholic periodical became one of the most important information sources on school curricula of religious education. Moreover, it was a source from which successive syllabuses were derived.

    Opis:
    One of the essential catechetical and pastoral problems is the question of preparation for first confession and Holy Communion. Interest in this issue is an expression of concern by catechists and priests regarding the proper formation of children before receiving these sacraments. This theme has returned recently in connection with the implementation of the guidelines of the Core Curriculum of the Catechesis approved on 8 March 2010. The document gives a few indications in preparing children for the sacraments of Christian initiation: Penance and Reconciliation as well as Holy Eucharist. The instructions concern, among other things: the time of accession to these sacraments, forms of the pastoral-liturgical meetings for children and their parents in the period of preparation, their frequency and subject matter, and finally, the religious knowledge required of children at this stage of education. The approximation of these issues seems to be crucial as they may in fact affect the manner of work of individuals responsible for the education and religious formation of children preparing for their first confession and First Holy Communion.
    Jednym z istotnych problemów katechetycznych i duszpasterskich jest kwestia przygotowania do pierwszej spowiedzi i Komunii św. Interesowanie się tym zagadnieniem jest wyrazem troski katechetów i duszpasterzy o właściwą formację dzieci poprzedzającą przyjęcie tych sakramentów. Temat ten powrócił także w ostatnim czasie w związku z wdrażaniem założeń nowej Podstawy programowej katechezy zatwierdzonej 8 marca 2010 r. Dokument podaje kilka wskazań w zakresie przygotowania dzieci do sakramentów inicjacji chrześcijańskiej: pokuty i pojednania oraz Eucharystii. Dotyczą one między innymi: czasu przystąpienia do tych sakramentów, form spotkań pastoralno-liturgicznych dla dzieci i rodziców w okresie przygotowania, ich częstotliwości, tematyki czy wreszcie wiedzy religijnej wymaganej od dzieci na tym etapie edukacyjnym. Przybliżenie tych zagadnień wydaje się istotne, mogą bowiem rzutować na sposób pracy osób odpowiedzialnych za edukację i formację religijną dzieci w okresie ich przygotowania do pierwszej spowiedzi i Komunii św.

    W pierwszej połowie XX wieku widoczny jest wzrost zainteresowania papieży sprawami katechezy. Dotyczyło to zarówno płaszczyzny doktrynalnej, jak i organizacyjnej. Papieże tego okresu Pius X, Benedykt XV, Pius XI i Pius XII mieli na tym polu wielkie zasługi. W wydanych dokumentach wskazywali na prymat katechezy pośród różnych form apostolatu, dokonali reorganizacji katechezy parafialnej, uporządkowali prawodawstwo kościelne związane z katechezą, zabiegali o lepsze przygotowanie katechetów do pracy katechetycznej, utworzyli urzędy katechetyczne centralne i diecezjalne, wprowadzili wykłady z katechetyki w seminariach duchownych. Ich wskazania katechetyczne wyznaczały pewne wspólne ramy dla pracy katechetycznej i stały się obligatoryjne w całym Kościele. Chociaż w poszczególnych diecezjach były wprowadzane z różnym natężeniem, to nie zmienia to jednak faktu, że stanowiły one pewien punkt odniesienia dla spraw związanych z katechizacją i wyznaczały kierunek wszelkich działań katechetycznych w parafii i szkole aż do Vaticanum II.
    Nella prima meta’ del XX sec. si e’ fatta notare un’evidente crescita dell’interessamento dei papi dei problemi della catechesi. Esso riguardava sia il piano dottrinale che organizzativo. I papi di questo periodo: Pio X, Benedetto XV, Pio XI e Pio XII hanno dato un grande supporto su questo campo. Nei documenti pontifici indicavano il primato della catechesi tra le diverse forme dell’apostolato, riorganizzavano la catechesi parrocchiale, sistemavano la legislazione ecclesiale riguardante la chatechesi, sollecitavano la preparazione dei catechisti, costituivano gli uffici catechetici centrali e diocesani, introducevano le lezioni di catechetica nei seminari e nelle universita’ cattoliche. Le indicazioni di questi papi traciavano alcune norme comuni per il lavoro catechetico che dopo sono diventate obbligatorie in tutta la Chiesa. Anche se nelle singole diocesi sono state introdotte con diversa intensita’, non cambia il fatto che esse costituivano un punto di rifferimento nelle questioni riguardanti la catechesi e indicavano la direzione di ogni attivita’ catechetica in parrocchia fino al Vaticanum II.

    Opis:
    A religious lesson needs using various form s of student s' work organization. The most typical ones include: individual, collective and group work. Currently a lot of attention is also paid to pair work. Application of these forms should result in shaping certain personality features in teenagers. Using all of the four forms of students' work or their different combinations during a lesson, makes it more attractive, which influences comprehensive activation of students. Their application on catechesis is away of religious teachers' pursuit to improve efficiency of religious education among teenagers. It is an important element of catechetical didactics as it involves searching optimal solutions, what is making catechesis more effective in case of the way of passing the essence of faith and developing Christian attitudes among teenagers.

    Opis:
    Nowadays the Church has a great challenge connected with taking up evangelization again. It must be an answer to signs of the times, to the needs of present people and to the conditions in which the man lives. In these complex and difficult realities there is a need for Christians capable of sharing their faith, who will keep on preaching with fervour and apostolic enthusiasm. As it is indicated in Instrumentum laboris, catechists can cope with this task. They are the subjects of passing on the faith and they are responsible for its preaching. In the document there are suggestions about how they should carry out their mission. However, they need more detailed elaboration. All these matters are to be discussed during 13th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. We must hope that they will meet specific solutions, becoming an impulse to greater involvement in passing on the faith by catechists participating in the new evangelization through their service.
