Opis:
In this paper we get an algebraic derivative relative to the convolution $(f*g)(t)=∫_0^ti f(t-ψ)g(ψ)dψ$ associated to the operator $D^δ$, which is used, together with the corresponding operational calculus, to solve an integral-differential equation. Moreover we show a certain convolution property for the solution of that equation

It is estimated that damages in the quality of the meat because of the applications of the not sustainable behaviours like hit of the animals and the so-called “dark cut” or DFD (Dry proficient Dark) cause losses at least comparably with the nutrition of half a million people.

Opis:
Chemical processes use to be non-minimum phase systems. Thereby, they are a challenge for control applications. In this paper, fuzzy state feedback is applied in the Van de Vusse reaction that has an inverse response. The control design has an integrator to enhance the control performance by eliminating the steady-state error when a step reference is applied. An anti-windup action is used to reduce the undershoot in the system response. In practice, it is not possible to have always access to all the state variables. Thus, a fuzzy state observer is implemented via LMIs. Frequently, the papers that show similar applications present some comments about disturbance rejection. To eliminate the steady-state error when a ramp reference is used, in this work, a second integrator is aggregated. Now, the anti-windup also reduces the overshoot generated due to the usage of two integrators in the final application.

Opis:
This paper deals with a condition-based maintenance strategy (CBM) in finite-time horizon for a system subject to two different causes of failure, internal degradation and sudden shocks. Internal degradation is modelled under a gamma process and sudden shocks arrive at the system following a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP). Both causes of failure are considered as dependent. When a sudden shock takes places, the system fails. In addition, the system is regarded to fail when the deterioration level reaches a critical threshold. Under this functioning scheme, a CBM strategy is developed for controlling the reliability of the system. Traditionally, this strategy is developed under an asymptotic approach. Hence, considering an infinite-time horizon is not always possible. In this paper, we analyse a CBM strategy under a finite-time horizon developing a recursive method which estimates the expected cost rate based on numerical integration and Monte Carlo simulation. A numerical example is provided in order to illustrate this complex maintenance model.

Opis:
Different combinations of mining waste mud, grounded waste glass, Portland cement, metakaolin and expanded cork were mixed together with alkaline activators (sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide solution) and as well aluminum powder or hydrogen peroxide to produce foamed lightweight materials. The size of the mineral materials is under 500 µm and expanded cork particles size is between 2 to 4 mm. The expanded cork added to the mixes changed between 10 to 40% volume of total solids. The influence of expanded cork on compressive strength was investigated. Precursors and activators were mixed together to produce a homogeneous mixture, which was placed into a cubic mold (40 x 40 x 40 mm3), and cured at a temperature of 60°C, for 24 hours. After curing process, samples without foaming agents achieved the maximum compressive strength of 14.7 and 19.5 MPa for 7 and 28 days respectively. The porosity was observed by the naked eye of large voids in a range of 4 mm in size. Microstructure analyses were carried on by SEM. Samples made with aluminum powder showed higher volume increase about 358% compared with samples made with hydrogen peroxide that presented a 141% volume increase. This preliminary study shows the feasibility to produce new improved lightweight foamed alkali activated materials incorporating expanded cork with potential applications in artistic, architectural, and historical heritage restoration.

Opis:
This review discusses the potential of alkali-activated materials obtained from mineral waste. A brief historical background on alkali-activated materials is presented. Recent advances in the development of binders obtained from mineral wastes and alkali-activated solutions are described. The scope of this state of the art review is to identify current knowledge in support that mineral waste can be used for the production of alkali-activated binders. In addition, this review identifies the chemical activators that can be effectively utilized for such purposes in the age when wastes are still viewed by industry as dis-posable. Some mineral wastes which are discussed can be viewed as a new resource for recycling and recovery which will offer important economic and social benefits.
