    The article is an attempt to show the novel Otok snova (Island of Dreams,1996) by Damir Miloš as an example of a dystopian text. The author portrays the presented world of the book, first, as a postmodern consumer space where the pursuit of attractions is a dominant human activity, second, she presents the same picture through the prism of hyperbolic deformation. In the novel the original idyll takes the contours of hell, as she suggests. However, the reflection does not finish in a defeatist way. The author indicates a possibility of transition from dystopia to micro-utopia, but only in the case of reading the novel in the context of other works written by Damir Miloš.

    The Enlightenment in Croatia – the change of paradigm?: From impoverished monomyth to liberated polymyth The paper is an attempt at a synthetic presentation of the discourse that took place in twentieth-century literary studies on the idea of the Enlightenment in Croatia. The author recognizes the model of conservative and Catholic Enlightenment centered on the North of the country, which is constructed in these studies, as a variant that impoverishes the reality of the 18th century, and propounds (referring to the Otto Marquard’s idea about the necessity that all communities are rooted in many histories) to extend the reflection on the Enlightenment in Croatia also to its south Dalmatian and Dubrovnik variant. She proposes to study the Enlightenment in non-Western countries to a lesser extent through the prism of socio-political and economic determinants, and more by tracking mental history and cultural flows. Such a mental path allows redefining the Enlightenment in Croatia focusing on its cosmopolitanism and liberalization. Oświecenie w Chorwacji – zmiana paradygmatu? Od zubażającego monomitu do wyzwalającej polimityczności Artykuł jest próbą syntetycznej prezentacji dyskursu, jaki się toczył w dwudziestowiecznych opracowaniach historycznoliterackich nad ideą oświecenia w Chorwacji. Autorka uznaje skonstruowany na ich łamach model konserwatywnego i katolickiego oświecenia, którego centrum stanowiła Północ kraju, za wariant zubażający osiemnastowieczną rzeczywistość i postuluje (powołując się na marquardowską myśl o konieczności trwania społeczeństw w wielu historiach) rozszerzenie refleksji na temat oświecenia w Chorwacji o jego południowy, dalmatyńsko-dubrownicki wariant. Przedkłada również propozycję badania oświecenia w krajach niezachodnich w mniejszym stopniu przez pryzmat uwarunkowań społeczno-politycznych oraz gospodarczych, w większym zaś poprzez śledzenie historii mentalnej oraz przepływów kulturowych, co jej zdaniem pozwala na redefinicję oświecenia w Chorwacji w kierunku jego kosmopolityzacji i liberalizacji.

    The paper is an attempt to describe the reception of the idea of rationalism in order to represent its reworking in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in Croatia in three areas – physics, theology and politics. The authoress reveals how the method developed by Newton in the field of natural sciences has found an application in other disciplines of knowledge, and most of all in theology. In Croatia, this resulted in the application of the category of Kantian reason to ethical considerations. As a rationalist project in the field of politics, cameralism is indicated, an economic doctrine popular in the German and Austrian territories which was closely connected with the development of the enlightened monarchy and bureaucracy in the early modern period.

    The article is an attempt to demonstrate innovativeness and usefulness of the theory of allegory proposed by Dorothy L. Sayers, the author of The Writing and Reading of Allegory. Sayers identifies allegory as a literary genre, presents it as a ‘being’ mentally close to psychomachia, and tries to use the idea of “soul-battle” in the field of analytic psychology. Her conception seems to be fertile when interpreting Lost Homeland by Slobodan Novak.

    Transformations of utopia in the Croatian insular prose of the second half of 20th and the first half of the 21st centuries based on examplesThe article is an attempt to show a different means of presenting the newest Croatian literature than through topics such as the problem of the country’s national tradition, patriotism, post-communism, and issues of identity and emigration, which seems to be the most popular tendency among Polish researchers. Placing her research in the regionalistic stream, the author of the article discusses Croatian insular prose through the category of utopia. She sees The lost homeland [Izgubljeni zavičaj] by Slobodan Novak as an example of modern utopia, interprets The Island of Dreams [Otok snova] by Damir Miloš as a postmodern dystopia and perceives A Guide Across the Island [Vodič po otoku] by Senko Karuza as a vision of a new, post-postmodern type of utopia. Przemiany utopii w chorwackiej prozie insularnej drugiej połowy XX i początku XXI wieku na wybranych przykładachArtykuł jest próbą pokazania innego sposobu prezentowania najnowszej literatury chorwackiej aniżeli poprzez takie tematy jak problematyka narodowej tradycji kraju, patriotyzm, postkomunizm, kwestie tożsamości i emigracji, co wydaje się najbardziej popularną tendencją wśród polskich badaczy. Autor artykułu, wpisując swoje badanie w nurt regionalistyczny, omawia chorwacką prozę insularną poprzez kategorię utopii. Izgubljeni zavičaj Slobodana Novaka widzi jako przykład utopii modernistycznej, Otok snova Damira Miloša interpretuje jako postmodernistyczną dystopię, zaś Vodič po otoku Senka Karuzy postrzega jako wizję nowego rodzaju utopii post-postmodernistycznej.

    Borders within borders: A new regionalism in contemporary Croatian literatureThe article is an attempt at a synthetic presentation of Croatian literature researchers’ reflection about regionalism in the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty-first century. The author observes that there is a tendency to see Croatian literature as one that produces two different models of texts in terms of poetics and philosophy – the northern, which is “Central European,” and the southern, which is “Mediterranean.” She then examines the coherence of the “ideal types” delineated by researches according to the themes and literary devices utilised, based on two short stories from 2006, by writers one of whom is from the northern and the other – from the southern part of the country. Granice wewnątrz granic. Nowy regionalizm we współczesnej literaturze chorwackiejArtykuł jest próbą syntetycznej prezentacji refleksji chorwackich badaczy literatury na temat regionalizmu w XX i na początku XXI wieku. Autorka wskazuje na istnienie tendencji do postrzegania chorwackiej literatury jako realizującej dwa odmienne – północny tj. środkowoeuropejski oraz południowy tj. śródziemnomorski – modele tekstów w zakresie poetyki i filozofii, a następnie na podstawie dwóch opowiadań z 2006 roku, napisanych przez pisarzy z Północy i Południa, sprawdza przystawalność nakreślonych przez badaczy „typów idealnych” do materiału literackiego.

    Artykuł stanowi próbę analizy filmu Duchy Inisherin (The Banshees of Inisherin, 2022) w reżyserii Martina McDonagha z perspektywy fenomenologii krajobrazu. Autorka proponuje odczytanie sensów filmu, przyporządkowując różne sposoby zamieszkiwania wyspy przez głównych bohaterów – Pádraica i Colma – dwóm odmiennym znaczeniom pojęcia krajobrazu – niemieckiemu Landschaft, które dookreśla terminem „krajobrazu tożsamości” i kojarzy z postacią Pádraica, i angielskiemu landscape, któremu przydaje miano „krajobrazu wzniosłości” i utożsamia z bytowaniem Colma.
    The article is an attempt to analyse the film The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), directed by Martin McDonagh, from the perspective of landscape phenomenology. The author proposes to read the meanings of the film by identifying the protagonists’ two different ways of inhabiting the island. The figure of Pádraic is associated with the German concept of Landschaft, which she defines as the “landscape of identity”. The English concept of landscape, associated with “the sublime”, is identified with Colm’s way of living.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena regulacji antykryzysowych z punktu widzenia poziomu zabezpieczenia interesów pracowników. Autorzy omawiają problematykę instrumentów wsparcia pracodawców, a także instrumentów rynku pracy w kontekście kryzysu pandemicznego i towarzyszących mu zwolnień. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono sytuacji pracowników administracji publicznej ze względu na specyfikę rozwiązań wprowadzonych w stosunku do tej grupy zawodowej. Podzielono się także refleksjami dotyczącymi zmiany praktyki relacji zbiorowych pracy oraz sposobu funkcjonowania stron stosunku pracy.
    The purpose of this article is to evaluate the anti-crisis regulations from the perspective of the level of the safeguarding of employees’ interests. The authors discuss the instruments of employer support and of labor market in the context of the pandemic crisis and the resulting layoffs. They pay special attention to the situation of administration officials (civil servants) because of the specific solutions adopted regarding this group. The authors also share their reflections on the changing practice in collective labor relations and on the changes in the functioning of the participants in the employment relationship.
