Opis:
The operational problem of container unloading from the ship is analyzed in this paper. Dynamic “crane-cargo-ship” system was investigated, and a mathematical model was created. In the model, the gap between the container and the ship’s cargo hold, the mass of the cargo, the container’s center of the mass, and the frictional forces that may occur during lifting from the cargo hold were estimated. Numerical analysis of the system was performed. Results of numerical analysis were compared with experimental measurements of containers unloading process in port. Requirement of lifting power was modelled depending on mass of cargo. Additional power needs in case of contact forces between container and wall of the ship’s cargo hold were calculated. Rational lifting conditions could be deduced using a created mathematical model and the reliability of the container and cargo during lifting could be deduced.

Opis:
The article presents theoretical and experimental investigation on properties of a composite material based on rubber. The approach presented in this research is an experimental measurement based on spectrum analysis combined with theoretical investigation held to describe a viscous-elastic behaviour of the material. The proposed mathematical model is represented by five rheological parameters of hybrid Maxwell and Kelvin-Voigt elements and includes an optimization task for determination of the stiffness and damping coefficients. In the proposed rheological model, not only the displacements are unknown but also forces described by second-order differential equations. Validation between the experimental measurement and theoretical investigation is made based on spectrum analysis.

Opis:
An investigation of tires behaviour on winter roads was always a high importance in the context of road safety. This paper presents the experimental investigation of tire performance on slush that is identified as two mixtures: a mixture of snow and water, and a mixture of crushed ice and water. The measurements of longitudinal and lateral performance including tire traction, braking and cornering were performed. Tire traction tests were performed for both mixtures with different amount of material. A decreasing in the tire friction was observed when amount of the mixture of snow and water was increased twice. For the mixture of crushed ice and water, an opposite trend was observed. The standard deviation values for the peak force coefficient showed a good reproducibility and reliability of performed tire tests.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to describe and analyse a mechanical device designed to enhance the safety of a motor vehicle. The topic is addressed by analysing the method of absorbing kinetic energy during a car collision with an obstacle. The article analyses opportunities to convert motor vehicle’s kinetic energy into another type of energy in the case of collision. For this purpose, various mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic devices are normally used. Such devices are designed to absorb collision energy and reduce or eliminate its impact on the driver, the passengers or cargo in the motor vehicle. The absorber may be used as an additional element of safety to the passenger and the cargo. The energy absorber described in the present article incorporates hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components. The description of the absorber presented here is based on mathematical calculations characterizing mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic processes in the equipment. The analysis of the developed mechanism employs a special application to calculate major parameters of the motor vehicle and the installed absorber. The article also gives a sensitivity analysis of the effect of the rod length on the decrement of the vehicle's kinetic energy.

The article presents theoretical research of a transmission system that allows examination of the dynamic processes evaluating different sizes of defects in gear tooth (0%, 20%, 50%, 80% of teeth width) and gaps between the connection of the gear teeth. The dynamics of the transmission is described using the finite element method and discreet elements. This paper presents and analyzes the results of mathematical experiments on this system.

Opis:
The main parameters describing the interaction between a tire and the road are forces transmitted by a tire. This paper presents experimental and theoretical research of mechanism of force transmission between a tire and slush-covered pavement. The experimental research was conducted in the internal drum test facility at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. The theoretical research presents a mathematical model of the system “"sub-block–slush layer–drum” focusing on slush behavior. The model evaluates mass change velocity of slush layer, mass, and physical–mechanical properties of sub-block. Slush was analyzed as a multi-layer bulk. The obtained velocities of slush layers and friction forces from the model allowed us to determine the generated heat per time unit at each layer. It was found that the top layer of slush has the highest velocity and heat flow values compared to other layers.
