Opis:: W ostatnich latach zauważalny jest wzrost zainteresowania kulturą popularną PRL-u. Autor sądzi, że ważną jej część stanowi dyskurs ludyczno-propagandowy, łączący funkcje rozrywkowe i perswazyjne. Jego dokumentami są liczne teksty multimodalne, w tym filmy kryminalne, tzw. kryminały milicyjne. Stanowią one interesujący materiał badawczy dla współczesnej mediolingwistyki. W artykule autor przedstawia mediolingwistyczną rekonstrukcję dyskursywnego obrazu cudzoziemca w kinie milicyjnym. Narzędziem wykorzystanym w procedurze analitycznej jest model definicji kognitywnej. Analiza dowiodła, że obraz cudzoziemców zdominowany jest przez wartościowanie negatywne, dotyczy to zwłaszcza Niemców i Amerykanów. Zdaniem autora rozwijanie tego rodzaju badań przyczyni się do poszerzenia wiedzy o mechanizmach perswazji i polskiej pamięci kulturowej.
An increasing interest in the popular culture of the Polish People’s Republic has been noticeable in recent years. The author believes that the ludic and propaganda discourse, which combines entertainment and persuasive functions, has a major part in it. This is evidenced by numerous multi modal texts, including crime stories, the so-called militia crime stories. They provide an interesting research material for the contemporary media linguistics. This article presents a media linguistic reconstruction of the discursive image of a foreigner in militia cinema. The tool applied in the analytical procedure is the cognitive definition model. The analysis has proved that the image of foreigners is dominated by negative evaluation, which concerns Germans and Americans in particular. In the author’s opinion, developing this type of research will contribute to broadening the knowledge of persuasion mechanisms and Polish cultural memory.

Opis:: The article discusses exponents of linguistic stylisation that occur in two polish historical films: Boles³aw the Bold (Dir. Witold Lesiewicz, 1971) and The Nest (Dir. Jan Rybkowski, 1974). Stylistic means are divided into three basic groups: grammatical (syntactic), semantic and pragmatic. The research has shown that the creators of both films applied similar methods of stylisation. They most often used following linguistic tools: analytical forms of the Polish past tense, inversion, item archaisms, bookish vocabulary and old honorific expressions. However, one may notice quantitative differences between analysed works. Exponents of stylisation more often appear in Bolesław the Bold. On the other hand, they exhibit greater diversity in The Nest. In the final part of the article, the author claims that research into film dialogues should become an integral part of Polish stylistics.

Opis:: This paper presents the concept of research on linguistic stylisation in the Polish feature film. The author notices that the issue has not been an object of major interest on the part of linguists to date although the film art plays a significant role in the contemporary cultural life and screenwriters use stylisation devices probably not less frequently than novelists or playwrights. With reference to the relevant literature, the author formulates the essential assumptions of the designed research. The material base of the analyses should be recordings. As regards methodology, achievements of structuralist stylistics, linguistic research on the language of television, and concepts of cultural linguistics should be used. At the first stage of the works, it is recommendable to choose one stylisation category as an object of description. When selecting films for analysis, one should be guided by professional studies of cinematography.

Opis:: The placement of the battery box can have a massive impact on the aerodynamics of an electric vehicle. Although favourable from the viewpoint of vehicle dynamics, an underbody battery box may impair the vehicle aerodynamics. This study aims to quantify the effect of an underbody battery box on the drag force acting on an electric vehicle. Four different variants of the vehicle (original variant, lifted suspension, lifted suspension with an underbody battery box) are investigated by means of computational fluid dynamics. The underbody battery box was found to induce flow separation, resulting in a massive increase in drag force. As a solution, a battery box fairing was designed and tested. The fairing significantly reduced the increase in drag. The results of this study could contribute to the design of more stable and aerodynamically efficient electric vehicles.

Opis:: The article discusses grammatical, semantic and pragmatic linguistic style indicators appearing in the dialogues of Lech Majewski’s film The Knight from 1980. The analysis of the material proved that the film is dominated by means evoking the old, historical Polish language. The author most often reached for inversion, conventional historicisms (referring to the stereotype of the feudal medieval times) and stylistic, as well as the old forms of address. Stylistic strategy used in the film can be defined as historical stylization. Language of the dialogues harmonizes with fairy-poetic narrative convention of The Knight.
