Opis:
The sol-gel method, which is among the methods used for the production of ThO₂-UO₂ mixed oxide fuel pellets, allows a high degree of micro-homogeneity of uranium and thorium in the solution stage. The present study seeks to develop an alternative method in order to produce mixed thorium-uranium dioxide fuel pellets, prepared by internal gelation technique of sol-gel process. The study also aims to investigate shrinkage behavior and first-stage sintering kinetics of pellets compacted in the Ar-5%H₂ atmosphere using a dilatometer. The chemical and physical properties such as density, homogeneity, O/M ratio, metallic impurities, unit cell parameters, phase contents and surface area of powders, that have different compositions of thoria-urania, were studied. The influences of sintering parameters on the characteristics of microspheres and on the properties of sintered pellets are discussed.

Opis:
Boron doped MnO films were prepared by spray pyrolysis technique at 375°C substrate temperature, which is a low cost and large area technique to be well-suited for the manufacture of solar cells, using boric acid (H₃BO₃) as dopant source, and their properties were investigated as a function of doping concentration. Boron doping was achieved by adding 0.1 M, 0.2 M, 0.3 M, and 0.4 M H₃BO₃ to the starting solution. X-ray analysis showed that the films were polycrystalline fitting well with a cubic structure and have preferred orientation in (111), (220) and (311) directions. Optical band gap of the undoped and B-doped MnO films were found to vary from 2.25 to 2.54 eV. The changes observed in the energy band gap and structural properties of the films related to the boric acid concentration are discussed in detail.

Opis:
Boron doped MnS films were obtained by the spray pyrolysis method using the boric acid ($H_3BO_3$) as dopant source at a substrate temperature of 350°C. The spray pyrolysis method has a wide range of application areas with a low cost well-suited for the manufacture of solar cells. The properties of boron doped MnS films were investigated as a function of doping concentration. The X-ray analysis showed that the films were polycrystalline fitting well with a hexagonal structure and have preferred orientation in the [002] direction. The optical band gap of the undoped and boron doped MnS films were found to vary from 3.38 to 3.20 eV. The changes observed in the energy band gap and structural properties of the films related to the boric acid concentration are discussed in detail.

Opis:
The effect of Zn:Se ratio on the photoconducting properties of ZnSe thin films has been studied. The ZnSe thin films have been deposited onto glass substrates by the spray pyrolysis method, the substrate temperature kept at 430ºC using mixed aqueous solutions of ZnCl$\text{}_{2}$ and SeO$\text{}_{2}$ with different Zn:Se ratios. Their electrical, structural, and photoconductivity properties have been studied. The values of optical bandgap have been determined from the absorption spectra.
