Opis:
The team of authors is engaged in the IMO corresponding group on INS / Alert Management and in national task groups primarily specialising in “Navigational Alert Management” matters. This presentation is based on the outcome of serious discussions carried out at different work group sessions in Germany and has been widely used as a guideline when details of an Alert Management concept are analysed (e.g. alert related communication and de-escalation strategies). A separate paragraph of definitions within this presentation describes “Function Alerts” which are not relevant for the navigational tasks carried out by the officer of the watch. Alerts appear to be nonrelevant became the subject under discussion whether their announcement should be automatically filtered out by a navigational module within an INS. This could be one effective method of resolution to minimise (the number of high priority) alerts.

Opis:
In the present study the thermal behavior of ultrathin Au films deposited on different noble metal single crystal surfaces was studied by means of ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and photoemission of adsorbed xenon. The primary goal of this work was to demonstrate the power of photoemission of adsorbed xenon as an easy to handle and very surface sensitive technique for the characterization of multi-component systems. All investigated systems, Au-Pt(111), Au-Pd(111) and Au-Pd(110) show a particular dependence of their electronic and structural properties on the annealing temperature. Au multilayer films with a thickness of 3 monolayer prepared at 150 K undergo in all cases a smoothening by annealing up to room temperature. While on Pd this effect is mainly detectable on the topmost atomic layer the ordering process on Pt is also affecting the deeper layers. Further annealing of the Au-Pd system to 450 K and the Au-Pt system to 750 K, respectively, results in the onset of the alloying process at the interface between metal film and substrate. After annealing to 650 and 950 K, respectively, the alloying finally extends to the very surface. The complete loss of Au from the surface can be detected at 1050 K on Pd and at 1150 K on Pt. The orientation of the substrate has only a weak influence, showing up e.g. in additional electronic states of the not alloyed Au-Pd(111) and Au-Pd(111) systems. Adsorption of CO as a probe molecule illustrates the formation of different adsorption sites on the bimetallic systems during the Au diffusion process.

Opis:
As android robots become increasingly sophisticated in their technical as well as artistic design, their non-verbal expressiveness is getting closer to that of real humans. Accordingly, this paper presents results of two online surveys designed to evaluate a female android’s facial display of five basic emotions. Being interested in intercultural differences we prepared both surveys in English, German, as well as Japanese language, and we not only found that in general our design of the emotional expressions “fearful” and “surprised” were often confused, but also that Japanese participants more often confused “angry” with “sad” than the German and English participants. Although facial displays of the same emotions portrayed by the model person of Geminoid F achieved higher recognition rates overall, portraying fearful has been similarly difficult for her. Finally, from the analysis of free responses that the participants were invited to give, a number of interesting further conclusions are drawn that help to clarify the question of how intercultural differences impact on the interpretation of facial displays of an android’s emotions.

Opis:
Reliable knowledge of a ship’s position and movement in relation to other traffic participants and obstacles is a fundamental requirement for navigation and avoiding collisions and groundings. Consequently, the onboard provision of resilient position, navigation and time data (PNT) is emphasized by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) e-navigation strategy, solution S3 “Improved reliability, resilience and integrity of bridge equipment and navigation information” and by the assigned risk control option RCO5 “Improved reliability and resilience of onboard PNT systems”. An initial step towards resilient PNT has been realized by the maritime community with the development of the performance standards for shipborne multi-system radionavigation receiver equipment (MRR). This MRR performance standard (PS) supports the full use of data coming from current and future radionavigation systems and services. Consequently, the combined use of several global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and the additional use of space based augmentation systems (SBAS) as well as optional terrestrial radionavigation systems (e.g. eLoran or R-Mode) will be supported to increase the performance of positioning and timing. As a second step, the development of guidelines for an onboard PNT (data processing) unit has been identified as supplementary and necessary. The starting point is the onboard use of a combination of GNSS receivers and autarkic systems (e.g. radar, gyro, echosounders with bathymetric data) for a comprehensive provision of required PNT data. Redundancy in the available data enables the application of integrity monitoring functions to evaluate the current usability of safety-critical data and components. The aim of the guidelines is the specification of data processing rules towards the resilient provision of standardized PNT data and integrity information. For this purpose, a modular architecture for an onboard PNT system is introduced and scaled to the need for data input as well as the performance of data output.

Opis:
This is the continuation of four earlier studies of a scalar fractional differential equation of Riemann-Liouville type [formula] in which we first invert it as a Volterra integral equation [formula] and then transform it into [formula] where R is completely monotone with [formula] and J is an arbitrary positive constant. Notice that when x is restricted to a bounded set, then by choosing J large enough, we can frequently change the sign of the integrand in going from (b) to (c). Moreover, the same kind of transformation will produce a similar effect in a wide variety of integral equations from applied mathematics. Because of that change in sign, we can obtain an a priori upper bound on solutions of (b) with a parameter λ ∈ (0, 1] and then obtain an a priori lower bound on solutions of (c). Using this property and Schaefer’s fixed point theorem, we obtain positive solutions of an array of fractional differential equations of both Caputo and Riemann-Liouville type as well as problems from turbulence, heat transfer, and equations of logistic growth. Very simple results establishing global existence and uniqueness of solutions are also obtained in the same way.

The luminescence of In$\text{}_{x}$Ga$\text{}_{1-x}$N is studied for thick epitaxial layers and quantum wells. Using spatially resolved cathodoluminescence spectroscopy the commonly observed broad integral photoluminescence spectra were found to result from spectral and lateral inhomogeneous emission across the samples. Moreover, the integral photoluminescence and absorption spectra show different temperature dependences. The effects can be explained assuming fluctuations of the composition associated with a variation of the band gap.

Opis:
Edible honeysuckle (honeyberry) Lonicera caerulea is becoming popular as a novel berry crop with several useful features such as early fruit ripening and exceptional hardiness, particularly resistance to pests and diseases as well as severe frosts in winter and droughts in summer. The triterpenoid profile of fruit and leaf cuticular waxes of edible honeysuckle (a Russian cultivar Chernichka) was analyzed by GC-MS. The major compounds identified were the tetracyclic triterpenoids campesterol, cholesterol, cycloartanol, cycloart-23-ene-3,25-diol, 24-methylenecycloartanol (only in leaves), sitosterol, stigmasta-3,5-dien-7-one, and stigmasterol; and the pentacyclic triterpenes: α-amyrin, β-amyrin, hop-22(29)-en-3-one, oleanolic acid, and ursolic acid. Several remarkable features of the analyzed triterpenoid contents were revealed, including the relatively low abundance of triterpenoids in fruit waxes (6.5% of wax extract) compared to leaf waxes (22%), and a particularly high proportion of tetracyclic triterpenoids (tetracyclic to pentacyclic compound ratios of 4:1 in fruits and almost 7:1 in leaves). These rare features distinguish the triterpenoid profile of the cuticular waxes of L. caerulea var. kamtschatica from the majority of triterpenoid profiles in plant cuticular waxes investigated to date. To our knowledge, this is the first quantitative compositional study on triterpenoid compounds in the cuticular waxes of edible honeysuckle, supplementing the knowledge of cuticular triterpenoid diversity and distribution.
