Opis:
The current research deals with a way of using a new kind of periodic solutions called He's max-min approach for the nonlinear vibration of axially loaded Euler-Bernoulli beams. By applying this technique, the beam's natural frequencies and mode shapes can be easily obtained and a rapidly convergent sequence is obtained during the solution. The effect of vibration amplitude on the non-linear frequency and buckling load is discussed. To verify the results some comparisons are presented between max-min approach results and the exact ones to show the accuracy of this new approach. It has been discovered that the max-min approach does not necessitate small perturbation and is also suitably precise to both linear and nonlinear problems in physics and engineering.

Opis:
Redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L). is a broadleaf weed in autumn crop fields in Russia. Four field experiments were performed in Stalskiy region, southern Russia in two growing seasons, 2016 and 2017, to investigate the effects of postemergence applications of applied alone or in tank mixtures in winter wheat cultivars Tanya and Bagrat. Redroot pigweed control was greatest with tribenuron and all herbicide treatments containing tribenuron. The lowest redroot pigweed control was with aminopyralid/florasulam (study 1) and triasulfuron (study 2), respectively, whereas redroot pigweed had intermediate responses to the other examined herbicides. Tribenuron plus fluroxypyr sprayed on wheat cultivar ‘Tanya’, and tribenuron plus triasulfuron on wheat cultivar ‘Bagrat’ resulted in increased wheat grain yields. Overall, tribenuron and herbicides containing tribenuron provided the most efficient redroot pigweed control compared with the other herbicides and consistently maintained optimal winter wheat yields. Tribenuron could ameliorate redroot resistance to herbicides in wheat fields in southern Russia.

This paper describes a method for increasing the yield of glycidyl nitrate from chloro-epoxypropane and dilute nitric acid, in the presence of 5-aminotetrazolium nitrate. The presence of 5-aminotetrazolium nitrate as catalyst and co-nitrating agent, enabled glycidyl nitrate to be produced smoothly and in excellent yield under mild condition. The optimal reaction conditions were obtained by the Taguchi method, increasing the yield from 66 to 81%. The product was characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy.

An energetic tri-block copolymer PCL-GAP-PCL (Mn = 1794) was synthesized by a ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone with glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) of low molecular weight (Mn = 1006 g/mol) as initiator, in the presence of dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as catalyst, at 100 °C in the absence of solvent. The products obtained in high yield were characterized by FTIR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to study the thermal behaviour of the polymers. An advanced isoconversional method has been applied for kinetic analysis. The activation energy, calculated by the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) and Kissinger methods, and thermal analysis revealed that the tri-block copolymer has greater thermal stability than homopolymer GAP. The results of the activation energies from the Kissinger method for the first and second steps were 180.3 kJ·mol−1 and 209.8 kJ·mol−1, respectively. Furthermore, for the copolymer, the activation energy versus the level of conversion was calculated by the FWO method. The glass transition temperature (Tg) for GAP was influenced by the PCL blocks; as a result the copolymer (Tg = −64 °C) showed better thermal properties than homopolymer GAP (Tg = −48 °C).

Opis:
This paper describes a particle-size distribution (PSD) curve fitting software for analyzing the soil PSD and soil physical properties. A better characterization of soil texture can be obtained by describing the soil PSD using mathematical models. The mathematical equations of soil PSD are mainly used as a basis to estimate the soil hydraulic properties. Until now, many attempts are made to represent PSD curves using mathematical models, but selecting the best PSD model requires fitting all models to the PSD data, which would be difficult and time-consuming. So far, no specific program has been developed to fit the PSD models to the experimental data. A practical user-friendly software called "PSD Curve Fitting Software" was developed and introduced to program a simultaneous fitting of all models on soil PSD data of all samples. Some of the capabilities of this software are calculating evaluation statistics for all models and soils and their statistical properties such as average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum for all models, the amount of models’ fitting parameters and their statistical properties for all soil samples, soil water retention curve by Arya and Paris (1981) and Meskini-Vishkaee et al. (2014) methods, soil hydraulic conductivity by Arya et al. (1999) method, different textural and hydraulic properties, specific surface area, and other descriptive statistics of PSD for all soil samples. All calculated parameters are presented in an output Excel file format by the software. The software runs under Windows XP/7/8/10.

Highly variable microsatellite DNA loci show high levels of variation per locus and provide molecular markers for species and for populations of small effective size. In this study we applied microsatellite markers to identify specimens belonging to several sturgeon species and their interspecific hybrids. Nine microsatellite loci (Afu-19, Afu-22, Afu-34, Afu-39, Afu-54, Afu-57, Afu-58, Afu-68, Afu-69) were analysed for five species (beluga, Siberian sturgeon, Russian sturgeon, sterlet and paddlefish) and for their three interspecific hybrids: Siberian sturgeon x Russian sturgeon, beluga x sterlet (called bester) and for beluga x bester. Certain alleles at five loci: Afu-22, Afu-39, Afu-54, Afu-57 and Afu-68 were diagnostic for the examined sturgeon species and their interspecific hybrids.

Opis:
The prediction of cation exchange capacity from readily available soil properties remains a challenge. In this study, firstly, we extended the entire particle size distribution curve from limited soil texture data and, at the second step, calculated the fractal parameters from the particle size distribution curve. Three pedotransfer functions were developed based on soil properties, parameters of particle size distribution curve model and fractal parameters of particle size distribution curve fractal model using the artificial neural networks technique. 1 662 soil samples were collected and separated into eight groups. Particle size distribution curve model parameters were estimated from limited soil texture data by the Skaggs method and fractal parameters were calculated by Bird model. Using particle size distribution curve model parameters and fractal parameters in the pedotransfer functions resulted in improvements of cation exchange capacity predictions. The pedotransfer functions that used fractal parameters as predictors performed better than the those which used particle size distribution curve model parameters. This can be related to the non-linear relationship between cation exchange capacity and fractal parameters. Partitioning the soil samples significantly increased the accuracy and reliability of the pedotransfer functions. Substantial improvement was achieved by utilising fractal parameters in the clusters.

Genetic relatedness between Baltic Sea sturgeon (Acipenser sturio L.) specimens caught in different geographic areas is not clear. According to previous studies, fish captured in different locations within the historic area of A. sturio habitation are genetically different to each other. We have examined a fragment (191 base pairs) of mitochondrial cytochrome b gene of four specimens of A. sturio found in Poland: three fish were preserved in museums of natural history and the bone of one fish was from an archaeological site. DNA sequences of the three museum samples were identical, whereas the DNA sequence of the archaeological sample differed in the 918 position of the cytochrome b gene. All the analyzed DNA fragments were similar to those of Acipenser baeri and genetically distant to Acipenser sturio and A. oxyrinchus.

The synthesis of 2,6,8,12-tetraacetyl-4,10-dibenzyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (TADB), from 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexabenzyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane(HBIW) is a key step in the preparation of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW or CL-20). In this study, a novel highly efficient nano catalyst based on Pd@SiO2 was used for the reductive debenzylation of HBIW. It is notable that an orthogonal array design OA9 was applied as a statistical optimization method for the synthesis of TADB. The current application of the Taguchi method in optimizing the experimental parameters of the TADB synthetic procedure was successful. TADB was synthesized by investigating the effect of the reaction conditions, such as catalyst percentage, time (h) and temperature (°C). The effects of these factors on the yield of TADB were evaluated quantitavely by the analysis of variance (ANOVA). The Pd@SiO2 nano catalyst, consisting of a palladium core with SiO2 monolayer shells, was synthesized and characterized by SEM, TEM and IR spectroscopy. The optimum condition indicated that the use of fresh Pd@SiO2 nano catalyst provides a high yield (90%). The use of Pd@SiO2 nano catalyst after recovery gave a yield of 65%.

Manual material handling (MMH) tasks can be found in most workplaces and they may constitute a risk factor for work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of WMSDs and to compare MMH loads with the acceptable weight and force limits among Iranian casting workers. Data were collected from 50 workers of casting workshops who performed MMH tasks. The Nordic musculoskeletal disorders questionnaire and the Snook tables were used as tools for data collection. Hand/wrist symptoms were the most prevalent problems among the workers (84%). The results of the Snook tables showed that the loads in lifting (84%), lowering (86%), carrying (66%), pushing with initial (43%) and sustained force (59%), and pulling tasks with initial (48%) and sustained force (93%) exceeded recommended limits. WMSDs occurred in high rates among the workers and, thus, ergonomics interventions should focus on decreasing WMSDs and redesigning MMH tasks.

HNIW (2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane) is a family member of high-energy density cage nitramines which have so many versatile applications. In this paper, HNIW nanoparticles were prepared by the oil in water microemulsion route. The effects of various experimental parameters on this reaction were investigated using the Taguchi method. The effects of different variables: organic phase, water/organic phase (W1/W2), organic phase/ propanol (W3/W4) and HNIW weight percent, on the particle size of the HNIW were investigated at three distinct levels. Optimal conditions for obtaining HNIW nanoparticles were determined. Performing the process under the optimal conditions proposed by the Taguchi method leads to the production of HNIW nanoparticles with an average size of about 80 nm. The HNIW nanoparticles were characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).

Opis:
Performing a primary analysis, such as principal component analysis (PCA) may increase accuracy and reliability of developed pedotransfer functions (PTFs). This study focuses on the usefulness of the soil penetration resistance (PR) and principal components (PCs) as new inputs along with the others to develop the PTFs for estimating the soil water retention curve (SWRC) using a multi-objective group method of data handling (mGMDH). The Brooks and Corey (1964) SWRC model was used to give a description of the water retention curves and its parameters were determined from experimental SWRC data. To select eight PCs, PCA was applied to all measured or calculated variables. Penetration resistance, organic matter (OM), aggregates mean weight diameter (MWD), saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks), macro porosity (Mp), micro porosity (Mip) and eight selected PCs were used as predictors to estimate the Brooks and Corey model parameters by mGMDH. Using PR or OM, Ks and MWD, improved the estimation of SWRC in some cases. Using the predicted PR can be useful in the estimation of SWRC. Using either the MP and Mip or the eight PCs significantly improved the PTFs accuracy and reliability. It would be very useful to apply PCA on the original variables as a primary analysis to develop parametric PTFs.
