Opis:
Today’s shipping industry is largely digitalized and networked, but by no means immune to cyber attacks. As recent incidents show, attacks, particularly those targeting on the misleading of navigation, not only pose a serious risk from an economic perspective when disrupting maritime value chains, but can also cause collisions and endanger the environment and humans. However, cyber defense has not yet been an integral part of maritime systems engineering, nor are there any automated tools to systematically assess their security level as well-established in other domains. In this paper, we therefore present a holistic BRidge Attack Tool (BRAT) that interactively offers various attack implementations targeting the communication of nautical data in maritime systems. This provides system engineers with a tool for security assessments of integrated bridge systems, enabling the identification of potential cyber vulnerabilities during the design phase. Moreover, it facilitates the development and validation of an effective cyber defense.

Opis:
In this paper we introduce a new method for non-rigid voxel-based registration of medical images. There exist many applications where an alignment between two image datasets has to be established. Often a registration of a time-shifted medical image sequence with appearing deformation of soft tissue (e.g. pre- and intraoperative data) has to be conducted. Soft tissue deformations are usually highly non-linear. In our approach, for the handling of this phenomenon and for obtaining an optimal non-linear alignment of respective datasets we transform one of them using 3D Bézier functions, which provides some inherent smoothness as well as elasticity. In order to find the optimal transformation, many evaluations of this Bézier function are necessary. In order to make the method more efficient, graphics hardware is extensively used. We applied our non-rigid algorithm successfully to MR brain images in several clinical cases and showed its value.

Opis:
Wire patterns (80-1000 nm) of molecular beam epitaxy grown Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se/ZnSe quantum well were fabricated by a CH$\text{}_{4}$/H$\text{}_{2}$ reactive ion etching technique. Photoluminescence emission shows with decreasing lateral size a broadening of line shape and a spectral red shift. Calculations for the change of the band gap due to strain relaxation show that this shift of the photoluminescence emission for narrow Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se/ZnSe structures (lattice mismatch of 1.34%) can be explained by a partial elastic strain relaxation of the biaxially compressively strained Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se quantum well after the patterning process.

Opis:
The study aimed to investigate the possible anti-inflammatory activity of larch sawdust as feed supplement in lactating sows’ diet and its possible effect on the prevalence of Postpartum Dysgalactia Syndrome under field conditions. In a Greek farrow-to-finish pig farm, fifteen sows were randomly and equally allocated to a negative control group (NC group), a positive control group (PC group), and a treatment group (LT group). The animals of the first two groups received 99% basic diet and 1% corn starch, while LT group animals received 99% basic diet and 1% larch sawdust. The whole trial period lasted 35 days (7 days prior to farrow – day of weaning). At parturition day, animals of the PC group received 2 ml of an anti-inflammatory drug intramuscularly (meloxicam, Metacam®, Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica), while the animals of both other groups, received 2 ml of normal saline. Results showed insignificant differences among experimental groups for parameters such as post-partum rectal temperature and piglets performance. On the contrary, a significant increase of mean milk lactation index was observed in LT and PC groups on the 4th day of lactation period, when compared with NC group (p=0.014). Additionally, mean IL-6 concentrations in blood in the LT group showed a tendency for reduction when compared with those found in NC, and insignificant difference (p>0.05) when compared with those observed in PC group 24 hours postpartum. Moreover, the respective TNFα mean level in the LT group at 24 and 72 hours after parturition was similar to that found in PC group, respectively) and significantly lower than that determined in the NC group (p=0.003, p=0.024. The results suggest a possible anti-inflammatory effect of larch sawdust in sows.

Opis:
Coexisting low-energy scales are observed in f-electron materials. The information about some of low-energy scales is imprinted in the electron self-energy, which can be measured by angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES). Such measurements in d-electron materials over the last decade were based on high energy- and momentum- resolution ARPES techniques used to extract the self-energy information from measured spectra. Simultaneously, many-body theoretical approaches have been developed to find a link between the self-energy and many-body interactions. Here we show the transcription of such methods from d-electrons to f-electrons by presenting the first example of low energy scales in the f-electron material $USb_2$, measured with synchrotron-based ARPES. The proposed approach will help in answering the fundamental questions about the complex nature of the heavy fermion state.
