Opis:
Określono zawartość tłuszczu i sklad kwasów tłuszczowych w tłuszczach jadalnych dostępnych na rynku warszawskim w latach 2000-2002. Przebadano 56 margaryn niskotłuszczowych miękkich 12 margaryn pełnotłuszczowych miękkich, 46 margaryn pełnotłuszczowych twardych, 17 olejów jadalnych 20 prób masła i 32 próby tłuszczów mieszanych. Stwierdzono duże zróżnicowanie w zawartości poszczególnych grup kwasów tłuszczowych (nasycone, monoenowe, polienowe i izomery „trans").
The amount of fat and fatty acids composition of fats available on Warsaw market in the years 2000- 2002 were analysed. Among that 56 soft and low fat margarines, 12 full fat soft margarines, 46 full fat hard margarines, 17 brands of oils, 20 different butters and 32 mixed spreads were investigated. It was concluded that considerable differences were present in composition of fatty acids of various groups (saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and trans isomers).

Opis:
This contribution presents the results of the investigation of the Oyców birch (Betula oycoviensis Besser) population in Volyně, the Ore Mts., the only locality with its confirmed presence in the Czech Republic. The Volyně locality is situated ca 700 m ASL (mean temperature 6.5°C, annual precipitation 700 mm) mostly on nutrient-poor abandoned pastures. The aim of this paper is to present the results of geometric morphometric study on leaves and to summarize up to date knowledges on this tree species. We found and described altogether 58 individuals of Oyców birch during the field exploration. Dendrometric parameters, vitality and crown shape were analysed. To define characteristic morphological features of Oyców birch, we performed geometric morphometric method on leaves of selected 36 specimens. We found that 15 distinctive traits could be used to distinguish B. oycoviensis from Betula pendula Roth. The traits we considered most important are as follows: petiole length, number of major veins, blade length and blade width. These traits are in accordance with traits that common botanical field guides refer to. The appropriate management steps to support the natural regeneration of Oyców birch in the Volyně locality were recommended. To improve conditions for natural regeneration, grass sward removal in chosen spots is advisable. And finally, the artificial regeneration could be used to accelerate the propagation of the population.

Opis:
The paper deals with the structural diversity and production of a less frequently studied type of alder stands originated on former agricultural lands in the 1950s, established partly by plantation and partly by natural succession in the area of the Krkonoše Mts. and the Orlické hory Mts. (Czech Republic). Four permanent research plots (PRP) were established at sites where Black alder (Alnus glutinosa L. Gaertn.) and Grey alder (Alnus incana L. Moench.) naturally occurs, each plot of 0.25 ha in size. The aim of the study was to evaluate the structure and development of the alder stands with respect to biodiversity, horizontal, vertical and species structure, diameter increment with emphasis on climate factors, and the quantity and quality of timber production. The results document low diversification of the studied stands in the PRPs. The horizontal structure is defined as random and clumped at sites at the highest altitude with high water table. The number of living trees with DBH ≥ 4 cm ranges between 556 to 828 trees ha-1 with the relative stand density index (SDI) 0.67–0.77. The stand volume ranges from 247 to 393 m3 ha–1, and decreases with higher altitudes. Low temperatures is limiting factor for radial growth in the high mountain areas, respectively low precipitation in the middle lands. Owing to a rather specific site character, as especially the spring area, the stands exhibit only average production, but the production quality is generally high. The quality timber is suitable for industrial use; the rot-affected trunk base parts usable for fuel represent only approximately 16%.
