Artykuł przedstawia polską adaptację krótkiego inwentarza osobowości Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI-P), który służy do pomiaru pięciu wymiarów osobowości opisywanych w modelu Wielkiej Piątki. Treść pozycji została przetłumaczona z oryginalnej angielskojęzycznej wersji, a badania studentów dwujęzycznych potwierdziły równoważność wersji polskiej i angielskiej. W serii czterech niezależnych badań (na próbie ponad 500 studentów) sprawdzono właściwości psychometryczne skal. Uzyskano zadowalające wskaźniki stabilności bezwzględnej po upływie dwóch tygodni. Zgodność wewnętrzna polskiej wersji skal jest, podobnie jak w przypadku wersji oryginalnej, stosunkowo niska. Korelacje ze skalami inwentarza NEO-FFI, a także samoopisu z opisem drugiej osoby (peer-rating) potwierdziły trafność zbieżną i różnicową TIPI-P. Wyniki badań dają podstawy do stosowania TIPI-P w badaniach naukowych prowadzonych w grupach studenckich.

Rare diseases, almost by definition, present us with diagnostic as well as therapeutic difficulties as. They also include infectious diseases outside endemic areas. Without expecting them, we are not preparing to fight them. Like Macbeth, we feel safe, convinced that tropical diseases do not reach us, like Birnam forest towards his castle. Nevertheless, the forest moved according to the prophecy of the three witches, and in a similar way tropical flora is moving towards us according to the predictions of environmentalists. This is illustrated by the history of the presented patient, who was admitted to hospital because of sepsis caused by Chromobacterium violaceum (CV), a Gram-negative facultatively anaerobic, oxidase- positive bacterium producing a dark violet antioxidant pigment called violacein. This is probably the first documented case report of sepsis in this part of the world. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the patient is the first to require dialysis after Chromobacterium violaceum infection.

The paper presents the Polish adaptation of the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI-P), which is designed to measure five dimensions of personality as described in the Big Five model. The items were translated into Polish from the original English version. The equivalence of the two versions was confirmed in a study conducted on a sample of bilingual students. A series of four independent studies (on a total sample of over 500 students) were conducted to verify the psychometric properties of the Polish version of TIPI. They proved acceptable test-retest reliability of TIPI-P after two weeks. As in the original version of the inventory, the internal consistency coefficients are relatively low. Correlations between TIPI-P and NEO-FFI as well as between self-rating and peer-rating confirm the convergent and discriminant validity of TIPI-P scales. The results of the studies suggest that the Polish adaptation can be used in scientific research conducted on student samples.

In article shown the problem with the assessment of the importance of tourism was recognized, and the first initiatives to develop the so-called tourism satellite in the 1990s. The aim of research is to answer the question: what is the share of the tourism economy in generating GDP in Poland and in Europe? The second goal was to answer the question: how has the Polish tourism economy responded to the global economic crisis and has this reaction been similar to European markets? The following hypotheses were adopted: first, the share of the tourism economy in Poland is smaller than the average for Europe, and, second, the Polish tourism economy reacted better to the global economic crisis than other European economies. The article uses data from the satellite tourism account for Poland and World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) data showing the multiplier effect of tourism in Europe. The data analysis shows that share of tourism economy in Polish GDP is 6% and the share of tourism industry in Europe in GDP is 8% in the end of second decade of twenty-first century.
W artykule wskazano problem związany z oceną znaczenia turystyki w gospodarce. Opisano pierwsze inicjatywy na rzecz rozwoju rachunku satelitarnego turystyki. w latach 90. XX wieku. Celem badań to uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytania: jaki jest udział gospodarki turystycznej w generowaniu PKB w Polsce i Europie oraz w jaki sposób polska gospodarka turystyczna zareagowała na światowy kryzys gospodarczy i czy ta reakcja była zbliżona do rynków europejskich? Przyjęto następujące hipotezy: po pierwsze, udział gospodarki turystycznej w Polsce jest mniejszy niż średnia dla Europy, a po drugie, polska gospodarka turystyczna lepiej zareagowała na światowy kryzys gospodarczy niż inne gospodarki europejskie. W artykule wykorzystano dane z rachunku satelitarnego turystyki dla Polski oraz dane Światowej Rady Turystyki i Podróży (WTTC) pokazujące efekt mnożnikowy turystyki w Europie. Analiza danych pokazuje, że udział gospodarki turystycznej w PKB dla Polski pod koniec drugiej dekady XXI wieku wynosił 6%, a udział gospodarki turystycznej w Europie w PKB wyniósł 8%.

Opis:
The purpose of the article is to evaluate the extent to which the registered unemployed population structure analyzed by selected categories of demographic characteristics affects the employment efficiency index. The coefficients of Pearson correlation and multiple correlation between the employment efficiency index and demographic characteristics were used as research tools. The coefficients were calculated for county labor offices operating in the individual Voivodships in 2018, and were used to detect regularities regarding the correlations between these magnitudes for the individual voivodships. It turned out that the research failed to render unequivocal results. The strength of the relationships between the examined variables at the country level (for all county labor offices) was far lower than that observed for the individual Voivodships. Each Voivodship appeared to demonstrate a different set of demographic features having a significant impact on the employment efficiency index, while the directions of such impact frequently varied between the Voivodeships, as well.

Opis:
The aim of the research presented in the article is to answer the question about how the applicants’ skills – measured according to, for instance, their matriculation examination results (for full-time 1st cycle program students) or their average grade awarded in the 1st cycle program (for full-time 2nd cycle program students) – may affect their achievement of learning outcomes. In order find the answer, the dependence between the students’ skills and their learning outcomes was analyzed using measures of the strength and direction of the relationship, as well as logistic regression. The database of candidates applying for enrollment with the Faculty of Economics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Poland, registered in the Online Recruitment System for the academic year 2015/2016, was used as the information basis.

Opis:
The radiolarian biostratigraphy of the Middle–Upper Jurassic pelagic siliceous sediments (Czajakowa Radiolarite Formation) in the Niedzica succession of the Pieniny Klippen Belt (Carpathians) is interpreted in terms of their age in a stratotype section, and facies equivalents in other tectonic-facies units of this region. The siliceous sediments are represented by radiolarian cherts and silicified limestones which are underlain and overlain by red nodular limestones, equivalents of the Rosso Ammonitico facies. The radiolarian association includes thirty-seven taxa belonging to twenty one genera which represent the Northern Tethyan Palaeogeographic Province. Key radiolarians recorded provide a means of correlation with zonation schemes based on Unitary Associations defined for the Jurassic Tethyan sediments. The age of the Czajakowa Radiolarite Formation in the stratotype section is determined as U.A.Z.9 to U.A.Z.11 corresponding to middle Oxfordian up to Kimmeridgian. Comparison of radiolarian biozones from the stratotype section with other facial equivalent sections in the Pieniny Klippen Belt reveals a significant diachronism for both the lower and the upper limits of the Jurassic pelagic siliceous facies.

Comprehensive and harmonious economic development of each country depends on the availability of raw materials, in particular mineral deposits, necessary for the functioning of the various industries that produce the substances and equipment required to meet the needs of the population, and for the efficient operation of agriculture and transport. The identification of raw materials, which are important for the country, is the basis of mineral policy and strategy. Diverse conditions of production of mineral raw materials result in their division into groups of different importance for the national economy. In Poland, three independent proposals for determining economically important mineral raw materials were developed. Despite their intuitive, similar approaches, various raw materials were identified as pivotal, strategic and critical. We would like to clarify their definitions: Pivotal raw materials – essential for the proper functioning of the economy and satisfying the needs of the society, those whose supply must be assured; Strategic raw materials - not sufficiently (at least 90%) supplied from domestic sources, or whose opportunities for permanent supply are limited or threatened (including the raw materials necessary for the development of innovative technologies); Critical raw materials - those whose chance of gaining (from both primary and secondary sources) is of high risk and their substitutability is low (in particular raw materials on the EU Critical List). There are 27 pivotal raw materials, especially important for the Polish economy, which are distinguished by the importance of raw materials and the importance of the substitution of raw materials. The list of strategic raw materials counts 36 items and includes a number of pivotal raw materials, important for the economy but being deficient in Poland. Eighteen mineral raw materials were considered critical. Depending on the changing, widely understood market conditions, such lists should be reviewed and updated at least every 5 years.
