Opis:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of core-spun yarn on the quick-dry property of towels. This study focused on five different raw materials (modal, cotton, polyester, bamboo, viscose) which are the most frequently used in towel production. Seven different core yarns and five different conventional yarns were produced with these fibres on a ring spinning machine. These yarns were used in the weft direction of the towels. Samples produced with the same ground and pile warp yarns were subjected to constant dyeing conditions. All samples were tested for strength, softness, hydrophilicity and quick drying. As a result, polyester core yarn on the towels did not negatively affect basic properties such as water absorbency, softness and strength. However, the usage of polyester core yarns provided better quick dry properties than that of conventional yarns.
Celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu przędzy rdzeniowej na szybkoschnące właściwości ręczników. Badanie dotyczyło pięciu różnych surowców (modal, bawełna, poliester, bambus, wiskoza), które są najczęściej używane w produkcji ręczników. Wytworzono siedem różnych przędz rdzeniowych i pięć różnych konwencjonalnych przędzy z tych włókien. Przędze te były używane w kierunku wątku ręczników. Wytworzone próbki zostały poddane stałym warunkom barwienia. Wszystkie próbki oceniono pod kątem wytrzymałości, miękkości, hydrofilowości i szybkiego schnięcia. Stwierdzono, że zastosowanie poliestrowej przędzy rdzeniowej nie wpływa negatywnie na podstawowe właściwości ręczników, takie jak: chłonność wody, miękkość i wytrzymałość. Jednakże zastosowanie poliestrowych przędz rdzeniowych zapewnia lepsze właściwości szybkiego suszenia, niż w przypadku konwencjonalnych przędz.

Opis:
Serbian spruce (Picea omorika /Panc./Purkyne) is a Balkan endemic and Tertiary relict, therefore it has an exceptional significance from the historical-geographical aspect as well as from the aspect of tree improvement and biodiversity conservation. Pollen was collected from 24 trees in two consecutive years and analyzed once a month. Germination of fresh pollen and pollen stored under different temperatures (room temperature: 23 ±1°C, +4°C, –15°C and –20°C) by in vitro method on a medium with 10% sucrose was analyzed. Fresh pollen germination was 53.63% and 68.06% for pollen collected in first and second year, respectively. After one year of storage at –20°C pollen germination was 22.36% and 60.72%, respectively. The differences between pollen collection years, temperature treatments, storage periods and individuals were statistically significant. Since pollen germination rates of individual trees between the first and the second year showed weak positive correlation, one could conclude that germination of fresh pollen grains is under the certain influence of environmental conditions. It is determined strong positive correlations between fresh and stored pollen at –20°C from both years of pollen collection.

Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) represents the largest readily available bioresource of alkenyl phenolic compounds. (CNSL) and its derivatives are widely used in polymer-based industries, synthesis of chemicals and intermediates, including bactericides, insecticides and surface active agents. In this work extraction of cashew nut shell liquid from cashew nut shell (CNS) was carried out by using the Soxhlet extraction method in the presence of polar & non-polar solvents. From the extracted CNSL, anacardic acid was selectively isolated and acid free CNSL was treated with liquor ammonia to separate the cardanol and cardol in the stepwise manner. Comparative study for the extracted CNSL and S-was performed. Higher amount of extracted CNSL was obtained from polar solvents. They were all characterized using quantitative analysis by HPLC.

The operational dams in Algeria lose 32 million m 3 of water storage capacity each year, and fifteen of these dams are threatened by siltation. This investigation forms a component of a management strategy for dredged silt in the Gargar Dam, the third-largest dam in Algeria with considerable sedimentation. This paper comprises two main axes: a detailed experimental study based on the studied dam mud's physico-chemical, rheological, and mechanical analysis. The second part is based on the study of the valorization of Gargar mud to be acceptable for use in road civil engineering. In order to obtain this goal, the Gargar mud was treated with lime (0-6%), sand (20%), and natural pozzolana (20%). Test results show that the properties of Gargar mud are significantly improved after treatment, and the soil becomes more friable and more resistant; it can therefore be used as a foundation layer in road civil engineering.

The flotation performance of sodium petroleum sulfonates with different molecular weights was evaluated for flotation of a kyanite ore, by investigating valuable mineral recovery-grade, flotation kinetics and gangue entrainment. The results indicated that the higher molecular weight of agent, the higher final cumulative kyanite recovery was, with the maximum value of 72% being obtained with KY-3 with the molecular weight of 438. The final cumulative kyanite grade initially increased, and then decreased with the molecular weight increasing. In other words, the maximum final cumulative kyanite grade (i.e. 89.05%) was obtained with KY-2 with the molecular weight of 392. The kyanite flotation kinetics followed the first order kinetics well, while the modified flotation rate constant showed a decreasing trend after the initial increase as the molecular weight increased. In addition, the overall entrainment degree decreased with decreasing molecular weight of sodium petroleum sulfonates. The use of KY-2 in kyanite flotation was an attractive option in comparison with KY-1 and KY-3.

We present a novel spatial pooling strategy and the results of an extensive multi-scale analysis of the well-known structural similarity index metric (SSIM) for objective image quality evaluation. We show, in contrast with some previous studies, that even relatively simple perceptual importance pooling strategies can significantly improve objective metric performance evaluated as the correlation with subjective quality assessment. In particular, we define an attention and quality driven pooling mechanism that focuses structural comparisons within the SSIM model to only those pixels exhibiting significant structural degradations. We show that optimal objective metric performance is achieved over very sparse spatial domains indeed that ignore most of the signal data. We also investigate an explicit breakdown of the structural models within SSIM and show that in combination with the proposed attention and quality driven pooling some of these models represent well performing metrics in their own right, when applied at appropriate scale for which there may not be a single optimal value. Our experiments demonstrate that the augmented SSIM metric using the proposed pooling model provides performance advantage on an extensive LIVE dataset covering hundreds of degraded images and 5 different distortion types compared to both conventional SSIM and state-of-the-art objective quality metrics.

A synthetic procedure has been developed for the synthesis of 1,4-diamino- 3,6-dinitropyrazolo[4,3-c]pyrazole (DADNP) via N-amination reaction. Its derivatives, 4,4’-(triaz-1-ene-1,3-diyl)bis(1-amine-3,6-dinitropyrazolo[4,3-c] pyrazole) (TBADNP) and 1,4-dinitramino-3,6-dinitropyrazolo[4,3-c]pyrazole (DNADNP), were first designed and synthesized by the diazotization and nitrification of amino group, and their structures were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elementary analysis and MS. The thermal properties of target compounds were studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). The thermal decomposition peak temperatures of DADNP, TBADNP and DNADNP are 227, 236 and 288 °C, respectively. Results show that the derivatives of 1,4-diamino-3,6-dinitropyrazolo[4,3-c]pyrazole have better thermal stability.

Opis:
A nitrogen-rich, polynitro energetic compound with an N,N-azo linkage, 1,1’-azobis(3,5-dinitropyrazole) (ABDNP), has been synthesized by an oxidative coupling reaction of 1-amino-3,5-dinitropyrazole with different oxidizing agents. The target compound was characterized by IR spectroscopy, 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, elemental analysis, mass spectra, X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The DSC results show that 1,1’-azobis(3,5-dinitropyrazole) decomposes at a relatively high onset temperature (202.9 °C), which indicates that 1,1’-azobis(3,5-dinitropyrazole) has acceptable thermal stability. The energetic properties were obtained, with a measured density and heat of formation matched by theoretically computed values based on the B3LYP method.

Adsorption of As3+ cations by natural materials is a relatively well-studied problem although much remains to be learned about it. As a consequence of pollution, remarkably high arsenic content has been reported in numerous natural waters. The subject of this paper is the adsorption of As3+ cations by granulated activated carbon (GAC), bentonite and zeolite (0.1-0.3 g), which could be used prospectively as potential supplement to other materials. The quantitative analysis of all samples was performed by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry. The results indicate that the amount of As3+ cations in a solution decreases with time for all the three adsorbents. The research also showed that 0.2 g of GAC and bentonite is an optimum adsorbent amount at pH 6.5. The same amount of zeolite has the best adsorption capacity at pH 3.5. Parallel testing of these materials showed that GAC had the highest adsorption potential (50%) compared to bentonite and zeolite (11.7% and 26.5%). Most of the adsorption process by GAC takes place at the first 45 min; in the case of bentonite it is the first 30 min and for zeolites the first 15 min (best starting; 19.5%). The reason for the lower adsorption of As3+ cations by bentonite is its instability in acidic environment, while zeolite shows reduced isomorphic replacement ability due to different charges compared to potentially convertible cations. The adsorption of arsenic on these natural materials has proven to be one of the most efficient and economical method of arsenic removal.
