Opis:
Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) have a great potential in many areas like electromechanical systems, medical application, pharmaceutical industry etc. The surrounding physical environment of CNT is very important on torsional vibration behavior of CNT. Damp¬ing and elastic effect of medium to the torsional vibration of CNTs are investigated in the present study. Governing equation of motion of nanotube is obtained using Eringen’s Nonlocal Elasticty Theory. The effects of some parameters like nonlocal parameter, stiffness parameter and nanotube length are studied in detail.

Opis:
The wave propagation characteristics of functionally graded (FG) double-beams are investigated by use of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Two beams are connected by a Winkler foundation. The wave propagation characteristics like frequency, phase and group velocities are obtained for different wave numbers and material properties. Four frequencies are obtained for functionally graded double-beam system. It is obtained that flexural and axial waves are coupled for FG double-beams.

Opis:
Nowadays hydroxyapatite is one of the most popular biomaterials, which is used in various medical and dental applications areas as graft material. Bovine bone is the biggest source for natural hydroxyapatite production, but its production can lead to very dangerous disease, like mad cow disease, without high degree calcination. Hydroxyapatite produced from marine sources is much safer and easier to produce than bovine hydroxyapatite. Here in this study natural hydroxyapatite and related phases were produced from a local source turbot (Psetta maxima). Beside the main bony internal structure, there are koshers (cycloid scale) on its skin. Koshers are bulky bumps, looking like flat, small and rounded structures. Internal bones and those bulky bumps were cleaned from flesh with chemicals and calcined at 850°C for 4 hours. After calcinations, especially those bulky bumps, were formed into mesoporous structures with very light bluish color. Those mesoporous structures can be used as natural mesoporous hydroxyapatite structures for bone grafting purposes. The internal bones have also formed hydroxyapatite. Scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction studies were performed. I this study it is found that the bones of turbot consist of hydroxyapatite and TCP related phases. The aim of this study is to produce natural hydroxyapatite structures from turbot scale with low carbon footprint, without harming the environment and without using complex chemicals.

Opis:
Production of the bioceramics on the market is presently conducted from typical precipitation method by using reagent grade raw chemicals or through calcination of natural sources like animal bones (especially bovine bone) and fish bones. Usually fish bones were damped near or in the water sources, which can lead to serious environmental pollution. Those were regarded as a trash, even though they still bear economic value, including conjugates. In this study bones of Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) were used as a bioceramic material source. Bones of Atlantic Salmon were collected from Besiktas Fish Market. Those were cleaned from possible flesh with reagent grade NaOH. Cleaned parts were washed with demineralized water very neatly. Dry fish bones were calcinated at 850°C for 4 hours. The obtained hydroxyapatite material was characterized with scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. It was found that the bioceramic material consisted of hydroxyapatite and various related phases. Scanning electron microscopy studies have revealed nano-structured bioceramic particles. The aim of this study is to obtain nano-structured bioceramics from bones of Atlantic Salmon in an environmentally friendly and economic way.

Opis:
Energy-momentum (EM henceforth) localization problem is one of the old and unsolved issues theoretical physics. Plenty of studies have been introduced to clarify the localization problem and there are many prescriptions given in gravitational theories such as the general relativity (GR henceforth) and teleparallel gravity (TG henceforth) to deal with this issue. In a recent work, the energy-momentum localization problem has been extended to a modified theory of gravity. In the present work, we calculate energy density associated with the Reboucas-Tiomno-Korotkii-Obukhov (RTKO henceforth) spacetime by making use of the modified gravity version of Landau-Lifshitz (mLL henceforth) formulation. Also, we consider some viable f(T)-gravity proposals.

Opis:
Recent astrophysical observations show that the universe has entered a late-time accelerated expansion period. It is commonly accepted that the dark energy is responsible for this enigmatic behavior of our universe, because it makes up about 70 percent of the content of our universe and dominates over the matter part. Therefore, the dark energy will govern the speedy enlargement and determine the fate of our universe. Another interpretation of the dark energy is that this is a new kind of dynamical field or fluid, something mysterious which fills all of space but something whose influence on the accelerated enlargement nature of our universe is the opposite of that of baryonic matter and ordinary energy. Here, we focus on the polytropic gas unified dark matter-energy model in a 5-dimensional cosmology to reconstruct tachyonic scalar field proposal of the dark energy. It is known that the background dynamics of the polytropic gas is equivalent to that one for the dark energy interacting with the dark matter. On the other hand, using scalar field is one of the most significant methods helping us to understand the dark universe. There are many scalar field proposals, but generally it is hard to get exact relations for the scalar field function and its self-interacting potential. In this work, making use of the 5-dimensional Polytropic gas model, we calculate exact relations for the tachyonic scalar field. After that, we discuss our theoretical calculations graphically in order to interpret our theoretical results in a different way.

Opis:
Cu-Al-based high temperature shape memory alloys are preferred commonly due to their cheap costs and shape memory properties. In recent years, studies have been conducted on developing and producing a new type of Cu-Al based shape memory alloy. In this study, the CuAl-Cr alloy system, which has never been produced before, is investigated. After production, the SEMEDX measurements were made in order to determine the phases in the Cu84–x Al12Crx+4(x = 0, 4, 6) (weight %) alloy system; and precipitate phases together with martensite phases were detected in the alloys. The confirmations of these phases were made via x-ray measurements. The same phases were observed by XRD diffractogram of the alloys as well. The values of transformation temperature of alloys were determined with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) at 20°C/min heating rate. According to the DSC results, the transformation temperature of the alloys varies between 320°C and 350°C. This reveals that the alloys show high temperature shape memory characteristics.

Opis:
We presented the results of electrical and optical studies of the properties of $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ epitaxial layers (0.060≤x≤0.105) grown by metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy. Resistivity and Hall effect measurements of the samples were carried out at room temperature. Optical properties of the samples were characterized by photoluminescence and optical absorption spectroscopy. The comparison between the photoluminescence and the optical absorption measurements gives the Stokes shift. We explained the observed Stokes shift in terms of Burstein-Moss effect. The band gap versus composition plot for $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ alloys is well fitted with a bowing parameter of≈3.6 eV.
