Opis:
The aim of the TOPVOYS project supported by the MarTERA ERA-Net Cofund program within the European Commission is to advance and implement analyses tools and decision support system for voyage optimisation. Based on marine weather analyses and forecasts combined with near real time satellite-based observations of wind, wave and surface current conditions as well as sea surface temperature fields the best shipping route are examined. The proposed approach aims to identify the optimum balance between minimisation of transit time and fuel consumption as well as reduction of emissions without placing the vessel at risk to damage and or crew injury. As such it is compliant with the International Maritime Organization guidelines [6] for ship routeing to keep the traffic smooth and avoid accidents, notably in the presence of unfavorable marine meteorological conditions. The tool performances will be demonstrated both in post-voyage analyses and real time operations for the North Atlantic Ocean crossings, voyages from Europe through the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Channel to the Far East (e.g. China, South Korea) and voyages around Southern Africa.

Opis:
The fatty acid methyl esters (FAME's) - in Europe mostly RME *) (Rapeseed methyl ester; Abbreviations see at the end of this paper) - are used in several countries as alternative biogenic Diesel fuels in various blending ratios with fossil fuels (Bxx). Questions arise often about the influences of these biocomponents on the modern exhaust after-treatment systems and especially on the regeneration of Diesel particle filters (DPF). In the present work different regeneration procedures of DPF systems were investigated with biofuels B0, B20 & B100. The tested regeneration procedures were: - passive regenerations: DOC + CSF; CSF alone, - active regenerations: standstill burner; fuel injections & DOC. During each regeneration on-line measurements of limited and unlimited emission components (nanoparticles & FTIR) was conducted. It can be stated that the increased portion of RME in fuel provokes longer time periods to charge the filter with soot. This is due to the lower PM-emissions of the engine, as well as to the higher reactivity and higher SOF-portion of the particle mass from RME. With the passive regeneration system with stronger catalytic activity (DOC + CSF) there is a stronger NO2-production with B100 and due to the NO2-supported oxidation of PM the balance point temperature is approx. 20 centigrade lower, than with B0. For the active regenerations the time courses of emissions and temperatures are closely connected with the chosen regeneration strategy - switching, timing and intensity (of burner, or fuel aerosol generator). A higher portion of biocomponent causes usually a stronger break-down of the instantaneous DPF filtration efficiency during the regeneration procedure - this is an effect of stronger artifact of spontaneous condensation after DPF. In summary there is no negative short term effect of bio-blended-fuels on the investigated regeneration procedures. Some recommendations for a successful long term operation, basing on other works and literature are given at the end of the paper.

Opis:
Agpaitic nepheline syenites have complex, Na-Ca-Zr-Ti minerals as the main hosts for zirconium and titanium, rather than zircon and titanite, which are characteristic for miaskitic rocks. The transition from a miaskitic to an agpaitic crystallization regime in silica-undersaturated magma has traditionally been related to increasing peralkalinity of the magma, but halogen and water contents are also important parameters. The Larvik Plutonic Complex (LPC) in the Permian Oslo Rift, Norway consists of intrusions of hypersolvus monzonite (larvikite), nepheline monzonite (lardalite) and nepheline syenite. Pegmatites ranging in composition from miaskitic syenite with or without nepheline to mildly agpaitic nepheline syenite are the latest products of magmatic differentiation in the complex. The pegmatites can be grouped in (at least) four distinct suites from their magmatic Ti and Zr silicate mineral assemblages. Semiquantitative petrogenetic grids for pegmatites in log aNa2SiO5 – log aH2O – log aHF space can be constructed using information on the composition and distribution of minerals in the pegmatites, including the Zr-rich minerals zircon, parakeldyshite, eudialyte, låvenite, wöhlerite, rosenbuschite, hiortdahlite and catapleiite, and the Ti-dominated minerals aenigmatite, zirconolite (polymignite), astrophyllite, lorenzenite, titanite, mosandrite and rinkite. The chemographic analysis indicates that although increasing peralkalinity of the residual magma (given by the activity of the Na2Si2O5 or Nds component) is an important driving force for the miaskitic to agpaitic transition, water, fluoride (HF) and chloride (HCl) activity controls the actual mineral assemblages forming during crystallization of the residual magmas. The most distinctive mineral in the miaskitic pegmatites is zirconolite. At low fluoride activity, parakeldyshite, lorenzenite and wöhlerite are stable in mildly agpaitic systems. High fluorine (or HF) activity favours minerals such as låvenite, hiortdahlite, rosenbuschite and rinkite, and elevated water activity mosandrite and catapleiite. Astrophyllite and aenigmatite are stable over large ranges of Nds activity, at intermediate and low water activities, respectively.

Opis:
Background: In the period 1997–2005, the Danish government initiated a series of legislative changes aimed at facilitating RTW (return to work) in the Danish population. In the present study, we investigated the odds of being gainfully occupied ca. two years after stroke as a function of onset calendar year, 1996–2006. Methods: All previously employed 20–57 year-old stroke patients in Denmark 1996–2006 (N = 19 985) were followed prospectively through national registers. The analysis was controlled for the type of stroke and a series of demographic, structural and occupational variables. Results: The odds for RTW increased significantly during the study period (P < 0.0001). The odds at the end of the period were more than twice as high as they were at the beginning, even after post hoc control for improved survival and decreased unemployment rates. The most conspicuous increase coincided with a change in the sickness benefit act that took place in 2005. Conclusion: The study provides quite strong circumstantial evidence that the legislative changes had an effect on the odds of return to work after stroke. More direct evidence is desirable, but such can only be obtained through a randomized controlled study.
