Value of the game
Opis:
In this paper, we have developed a game theory model to maintain the academic performance of students in the Nigerian Universities. We found that the value of the game was V = 1.9453×1012. The optimal strategies for player (A), the lecturers were: y1 = 0.1754; y2 = 0.1780; y3 = 0.1386; y4 = 0.1506; y5 = 0.05453; y6 = 0.09209; y7 = 0.18185 and y8 = 0.02895. The optimal strategies for player (B), the students were: x7 = 0.54444 and x8 = 0.45556. Player (A) have eight strategies to play the game and their opponents, player (B), have eight strategies but can only play two out of these strategies to minimize losses, these are strategy x7 and x8 respectively to survive the academic realities. Player (A), who were the owner of the game maximize their gain by using the Maximin criterion while Player (B), who were the defenders minimize their losses by using Minimax criterion. The strategies by the lecturer include all the techniques adopted to eliminate examination malpractices, maintain quality and quantity of education and to keep the standard of education highest.

Opis:
In this paper, we applied Geometric programming in the design of a standard laboratory for students’ practical work in the Federal University of Technology Owerri. The laboratory has a capacity of 1,357 seats thereby containing 1357 students with the following dimensions: design length is 644.3m; design width is 337.8m and design height is 217.7m. The laboratory would cost the university authority a minimum of 915,875.2 naira to construct.

Transportation model
Opis:
In this paper, we developed a transportation model for dietary allocation to reduce the risk of overweight and obesity. Our interest was on macronutrients such as carbohydrate, fat and oil and protein diets. These diets are the chief supplier of calories used by the body to perform its metabolic activities. The maximum cost method was used to determine the optimal calories per week from the intake of high fat diet and we found that the calorie required is 478.8 Kcal and average daily required intake is 68.4 Kcal. Again, the least cost method was used to determine the optimal calories per week from the intake of low carbohydrate diet and we found that the calorie required is 681.7 Kcal and average daily required intake is 97.4 Kcal. Comparing the calories from both diets, we conclude that consumption of diet with high fat produce less calories, and hence should reduce the risk of overweight and obesity compared to the consumption of carbohydrate diet even in low quantity. Since calorie is calorie irrespective of its source, we recommend taking high fat diet than taking low carbohydrate diet to reduce the risk of overweight and obesity. The determined daily calories are the minimum calories required by the body to maintain its metabolic activities, more of it will lead to excess and accumulation in the body which will lead to overweight and obesity.
