Opis:
Yield and quality of carrot seed were not affected by the mother root size used. However, the umbel position had significant influence on all the parameters used to evaluate the seed yield and quality except seed water content, which gave no significant response to the umbel order. Primary umbels resulted in better seed quality followed by the secondary umbels and whole plant, while tertiary umbels gave poor quality seed. All the seed yield and quality parameters studied also differed significantly for the interaction between mother root size and umbel order. Growth and yield of resulting roots were also not affected by the mother root size but were significantly influenced by the umbel order and its interaction with root size, indicating the supremacy of primary and secondary umbels on whole plant and tertiary umbels.

Peach fruit and trees are prone to various issues, regarding yield, quality and pest attack. Calcium plays several roles in plant and fruit development. Therefore the current study was conducted to evaluate the response of peach fruit to foliar application. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with two factors factorial arrangement and three replicates. Calcium chloride was applied at the rate of 0, 1, 2 and 3%. The foliar application of calcium was done at pink bud stage, berry size fruit stage, and then at pit hardening stage of peach. The obtained results indicated that foliar application of calcium significantly improved peach fruit quality and yield. The highest fruit weight (142.6 g), yield tree⁻¹ (15.6 kg), ascorbic acid content (6.67 mg∙100 g⁻¹), total soluble solids (11.0°Bx), fruit juice pH (3.98), sugar to acid ratio (45.1), fruit firmness (3.90 kg∙cm⁻²) and fruit volume (155.6 cm³) was obtained with the application of 3% solution of calcium chloride at pit hardening stage but it significantly reduced the percent titratable acidity (0.3%) and disease incidence (5.8%). It was concluded that 3% calcium chloride applied at the pit hardening stage significantly boosted peach quality and fruit yield.

Currently, the demand of accounting information system increasing due to its high influence on the organizational performance and emerging area to be investigate. Thus, the current article aims to examine the role of accounting information system on the performance management of the petroleum industry in Iraq. The leading contribution of the petroleum industry in the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country and extensive use of accounting information has enhanced the need for investigation of this emerging area. The data has been collected from the financial statements of the ten petroleum companies of Iraq that are the most prominent contributor in GDP form year 2001 to 2018, and STATA has been used for analysis. The results show that information accounting system has positively linked with the performance of the management. These findings provide the guidelines to the policymakers that they should focus on the system of accounting information that enhances organizational performance.
Obecnie zapotrzebowanie na system informacji księgowej rośnie ze względu na jego duży wpływ na wyniki organizacji i rozwijający się obszar do zbadania. Zatem niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zbadanie roli systemu informacji rachunkowej w zarządzaniu wydajnością przemysłu naftowego w Iraku. Wiodący wkład przemysłu naftowego w produkt krajowy brutto (PKB) kraju i szerokie wykorzystanie informacji księgowych zwiększyło potrzebę zbadania tego wschodzącego obszaru. Dane zostały zebrane ze sprawozdań finansowych dziesięciu spółek naftowych w Iraku, które są najbardziej znaczącym źródłem PKB w latach 2001-2018, a do analizy wykorzystano STATA. Wyniki pokazują, że system rachunkowości informacyjnej jest pozytywnie powiązany z wynikami kierownictwa. Ustalenia te dostarczają decydentom wytycznych, jak powinni się skupić na systemie informacji księgowych, który poprawia wydajność organizacji.

Phosphate glasses having compositions $(59.5-x)P_2O_5-40MgO-xAgCl-0.5Er_2O_3$, where x=0, 1.5 mol.% is prepared using melt-quenching technique. Infrared, absorption and photoluminescence spectra of $Er^{3+}$-doped magnesium phosphate glasses have been reported. The amorphous nature of the host glass is confirmed by X-ray diffraction technique. Transmission electron microscope image confirms the existence of silver nanoparticles inside the glass matrix. The localized surface plasmon resonance band of silver is found to be located around ≈ 528 nm for the $Er^{3+}$ free sample. A frequency upconversion process from infrared to visible is observed on excitation with 797 nm radiation. Furthermore, an enhancement in the emission at 540 nm and 632 nm is found due to the local field effect of silver nanoparticles. Our findings may contribute towards the development of solid state laser and sensors.

Opis:
The increasing concern for the safety and sustainability of structures is calling for the development of smart self-healing materials and preventive repair methods. This research is carried out to investigate the extent of self-healing in normal-strength concrete by using Sporosarcina aquimarina – NCCP-2716 immobilized in expanded perlite (EP) as the carrier. The efficacy of crack-healing was also tested using two alternative self-healing techniques, i.e. expanded perlite (EP) concrete and direct introduction of bacteria in concrete. A bacterial solution was embedded in EP and calcium lactate pentahydrate was added as the nutrient. Experiments revealed that specimens containing EP-immobilized bacteria had the most effective crack-healing. After 28 days of healing, the values of completely healed crack widths were up to 0.78 mm, which is higher than the 0.5 mm value for specimens with the direct addition of bacteria. The specimen showed a significant self-healing phenomenon caused by substantial calcite precipitation by bacteria. The induced cracks were observed to be repaired autonomously by the calcite produced by the bacteria without any adverse effect on strength. The results of this research could provide a scientific foundation for the use of expanded perlite as a novel microbe carrier and Sporosarcina aquimarina as a potential microbe in bacteria-based self-healing concrete.

Opis:
Phenol is one of the main pollutants that have a serious impact on the environment and can even be very critical to human health. The biodegradation of phenol can be considered an increasingly important pollution control process. In this study, the degradation of phenol by Pseudomonas fredriksbergsis was investigated for the first time under different growth conditions. Six different initial concentrations of phenol were used as the primary substrate. Culture conditions had an important effect on these cells' ability to biodegrade phenol. The best growth of this organism and its highest biodegradation level of phenol were noticed at pH 7, temperature 28 °C, and periods of 36 and 96 h, respectively. The highest biodegradation rate was perceived at 700 mg/L initial phenol concentration. Approximately 90% of the phenol (700 mg/L) was removed in less than 96 hours of incubation time. It was found that the Haldane model best fitted the relationship between the specific growth rate and the initial phenol concentration, whereas the phenol biodegradation profiles time could be adequately described by the modified Gompertz model. The parameters of the Haldane equation are: $0.062 h^{−1}$, 11 ppm, and 121 ppm for Haldane’s maximum specific growth rate, the half-saturation coefficient, and the Haldane’s growth kinetics inhibition coefficient, respectively. The Haldane equation fitted the experimental data by minimizing the sum of squared error (SSR) to $1.36×10^{-3}$.
