This article examines the second language acquisition (SLA) of Spanish dative clitics in clitic doubling (CLD) structures that are closely related to the double object construction (DOC) in English and Dutch. It also addresses the question of how adult English and Dutch speakers learning L2 Spanish in a formal setting develop knowledge and use of the animacy constraint in the target language, which is different from the first language (L1) counterparts. The role of transfer in acquiring new syntactic structures has been taken into account, where dative clitics appear and animate objects are marked by the dative preposition ‘to.’ New findings are obtained on CLD and the Spanish animacy constraint from a grammaticality judgement task (GJT), completed by English and Dutch learners at B1 and B2 CEFR levels. The difficulties learners experienced were not always due to negative L1 transfer, but also related to the complexity of the argument structure where the clitic is inserted. This has clear implications for the teaching of pronominal elements which are closely related to different syntactic configurations in Spanish.

Opis:
Three species of bradoriid arthropods from the lower to middle Cambrian transitional interval of Scania, southern Sweden, are described and illustrated: Beyrichona tinea from the top of the traditional lower Cambrian (Gislöv Formation; Ornamentaspis? linnarssoni Zone), and Hipponicharion eos and Alutella sp. from the basal portion of the traditional middle Cambrian (lowermost part of the Alum Shale Formation). The bradoriid fauna compares most closely with others previously described from western and eastern Avalonia (New Brunswick and England). The record of B. tinea suggests a correlation between the “Protolenus Zone” (Hupeolenus Zone) of western Avalonia and the O.? linnarssoni Zone of Scandinavia. Hipponicharion eos appears to be a fairly long−ranging species as it has previously been recorded from upper lower Cambrian or lower middle Cambrian strata in New Brunswick, Poland, and probably Sardinia. The record of H. eos from the lowermost part of the Alum Shale Formation suggests that this largely unfossiliferous interval in the Scanian succession is not younger than the Acadoparadoxides oelandicus Superzone. The genus Alutella has not previously been recorded from the Acado−Baltic Province.

Opis:
Approximate solutions for small and large amplitude oscillations of conservative systems with odd nonlinearity are obtained using a "cubication" method. In this procedure, the Chebyshev polynomial expansion is used to replace the nonlinear function by a third-order polynomial equation. The original second-order differential equation, which governs the dynamics of the system, is replaced by the Duffing equation, whose exact frequency and solution are expressed in terms of the complete elliptic integral of the first kind and the Jacobi elliptic function cn, respectively. Then, the exact solution for the Duffing equation is the approximate solution for the original nonlinear differential equation. The coefficients for the linear and cubic terms of the approximate Duffing equation - obtained by "cubication" of the original second-order differential equation - depend on the initial oscillation amplitude. Six examples of different types of common conservative nonlinear oscillators are analysed to illustrate this scheme. The results obtained using the cubication method are compared with those obtained using other approximate methods such as the harmonic, linearized and rational balance methods as well as the homotopy perturbation method. Comparison of the approximate frequencies and solutions with the exact ones shows good agreement.

Opis:
A system was set up to ingest automatic ship position reports (terrestrial and satellite AIS, LRIT) and fuse these into a Maritime Situational Picture, tracking the ships within an ocean basin‐wide area of interest in real time. Trial runs were made over several months, collecting reporting data from a number of different sources, over the Gulf of Aden and the Western Indian Ocean. Also satellite radar surveillance was carried out in order to sample the presence of non‐reporting ships. The trial showed that satellite AIS is a powerful tool for basin‐wide ship traffic monitoring; that multiple AIS satellites are needed for sufficient completeness and update rate; and that coastal AIS and LRIT still provide essential complements to the satellite AIS data. The radar survey showed that about half of the radar‐detected ships are not seen in the reporting data. The ultimate purpose of this work is to support the countries around the Horn of Africa in the fight against piracy and to help build their capacity to deliver maritime security and safety.

Celem prac było zbadanie możliwości zastosowania włókien kolagenowych pozyskanych z odpadów skórzanych w technologii wytwarzania materiałów skóropodobnych spełniających wymagania normy PN-EN 15618+A1. Eksperymenty prowadzono w oparciu o przetestowane zgodnie z normą dwa rodzaje nośników tekstylnych powleczonych poliuretanem imitującym lico skóry naturalnej oraz pięć rodzajów zróżnicowanych środków wiążących. Wytworzono dziesięć eksperymentalnych materiałów, które oceniono organoleptycznie oraz pod względem trwałości połączenia włókien kolagenowych z podłożem. Wynikiem realizacji prac są wymierne efekty naukowe w postaci potwierdzonych możliwości wytwarzania satysfakcjonujących rozwiązań – stosunkowo łatwego zintegrowania materiałów skóropodobnych z włóknem kolagenowym pozyskanym z odpadów skórzanych oraz opracowania uproszczonego schematu postępowania przy wytwarzaniu takich materiałów. Badania wymagają kontynuacji w celu optymalizacji procesu ich produkcji pod kątem wdrożenia w zakładach produkujących tapicerki meblowe.
The aim of the work was to investigate the possibility of applying collagen fibers obtained from leather waste in leather-like materials manufacturing technology which meets the requirements of standards PN-EN 15618+A1. The experiments were carried out on the basis of two types of polyurethane-coated textile surfaces checked for standard compliance and 5 different types of binders. Ten experimental materials were prepared and evaluated organoleptically and in terms of durability of the collagen fiber connection to the substrate. The results of the work are measurable scientific results in the form of confirmed possibilities of producing satisfactory solutions – it is relatively easy to integrate leather-like materials with collagen fibers obtained from leather waste and to develop a simplified procedure for the manufacture of such materials. Research needs to be continued in order to optimize their production process for implementation in furniture upholstery factories.

Dry drilling is a process of interest in order to eliminate the lubrication fluids. Also the aeronautical industry has been expected to these advantages. This paper analyses the cutting forces obtained during the dry drilling of aluminium alloy plates, in particular UNS A92024-T3. Experiments were performed in CNC milling and several HSS Co drills were utilised with different diameters. Cutting forces were measured by means of a piezoelectric dynamometer Kistler. This analysis provides a statistical study, by means of multi-sample comparison, in particular, F-test in the analysis of variance. Results provide evidence that can provide information about hole drilling with a tool without wear, so forces are statistically similar.

Opis:
The paper discusses the complex, agent-oriented hierarchic memetic strategy (HMS) dedicated to solving inverse parametric problems. The strategy goes beyond the idea of two-phase global optimization algorithms. The global search performed by a tree of dependent demes is dynamically alternated with local, steepest descent searches. The strategy offers exceptionally low computational costs, mainly because the direct solver accuracy (performed by the hp-adaptive finite element method) is dynamically adjusted for each inverse search step. The computational cost is further decreased by the strategy employed for solution inter-processing and fitness deterioration. The HMS efficiency is compared with the results of a standard evolutionary technique, as well as with the multi-start strategy on benchmarks that exhibit typical inverse problems’ difficulties. Finally, an HMS application to a real-life engineering problem leading to the identification of oil deposits by inverting magnetotelluric measurements is presented. The HMS applicability to the inversion of magnetotelluric data is also mathematically verified.

I and II (5.2% in 1 host species).
