Opis:
The study area is located in the North-Eastern part of the Nile Delta, northern of Ismailia canal and western Suez Canal. It comprises an area of about 3,058.8 km 2 (728,285.38 feddans). This work aims to identify the main physiographic units and its features, as well as emphasise the importance of combining soil taxonomy (2014) and WRB classification (2022) systems. Two main physiographic units were distinguished in the study area according to the previous studies, interpretation of satellite image and digital elevation model (DEM) as well as field observations; the first consists of fluvio-marine flats and the second river terraces which include the fluvial and deltaic origin. According to field morphological descriptions as well as chemical and physical analyses, representative profiles are classified by using both Soil Taxonomy and WRB systems. The current study is the third manuscript to emphasise the importance of using both systems together in order to obtain maximum possible characteristics of the earth. Below are examples that illustrate this importance. Soils of profile No. 4 which represent the fluvio-marine soils are classified according to soil taxonomy as follows: Typical Haplosalids, fine silty, mixed, thermic. While these soils are classified according to WRB as follows: Fluvic Sodic Solonchaks (Siltic/Loamy/Clayic, Chloridic, Evapocrustic, Ochric, Hypersalic). Soils of gypsiferous which represent soils of profile No. 6 are classified according to Soil Taxonomy as: Gypsic Aquisalids, loamy over sandy, mixed, thermic, whereas the application of the WRB system reveals the following: Fluvic Calcic Gypsic Sodic Gleyic Solonchaks (Loamic, Chloridic, Hypersalic).

Opis:
Purpose Cutting parameters are often chosen for machining by machine operators in the industry. The experience and efficiency of the machine operator in producing a quality product are frequently used to decide parameter selection—low productivity results from improper parameter selection, inefficient machining, and technological issues. Today's key issues in the machining industry are focusing on increasing machining performance on surface roughness while minimising coolant usage. The study's objective is to enhance the performance of the nozzle lubrication system during the turning operation of an aluminium alloy 319 workpieces (Al319) to generate good surface roughness by applying turning parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and the depth of cut. Design/methodology/approach Response Surface Method (RSM) was used to create the experimental method for this investigation, carried out using a CNC lathe machine with two axial movements and a wet cooling nozzle with a size of 1.0 mm. Synthetic soluble lubricants, Al2O3-coated cemented carbide inserts, and Aluminium alloy 319 were utilised as cutting tools and workpiece materials. Findings To study the influence of cutting parameters on surface roughness, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) approach was utilised while the response surface method was performed to achieve an optimum machining performance (RSM). When comparing dry and wet cooling systems, the size of 1.0 mm nozzle shows appropriate surface roughness. According to the ANOVA analysis, the key factor impacting the surface roughness as machining performance in lubrication technique experiments was the utilisation of 1.0 mm nozzle size. Research limitations/implications The findings of combination machining parameters at a cutting speed of 270 m/min and a cutting depth of 0.60 mm at a feed rate of 0.08 mm/min offered the best results, achieving a surface roughness, Ra of 0.94 µm. Practical implications The use of coolant size nozzle 1.0 mm technology combined with the use of correct machining parameters can improve machining cuts. Originality/value The novel size of 1.0 mm nozzle in this current research is also valuable for reducing and increasing productivity in the machining business, as well as reducing dependency on machining operators' experience and abilities.

Opis:
A simulation study on the effect of hydrogen and ethanol addition as supplementary fuel for gasoline engine at lean mixture (equivalence ratio ϕ = 0.8) was carried out to reduce the gasoline share in the mixture, thus reducing the fuel consumption and harmful emissions. The effect of supplementary fuels on engine performance, emissions, and availability was investigated. This was done by changing the ratio between gasoline and the supplementary fuels in the fuel mixture to achieve the required equivalence ratio. The first part of the simulation consisting of the performance and emissions calculated using the first law, was conducted for all engine speeds. The second part consisting of an availability analysis was conducted at the rated speed of 2750 rpm. The simulation study was conducted using the data obtained from measurements of Ricardo E6/T engine parameters (variable compression ratio engine). The data was also used to verify the models. The study shows that the hydrogen addition reduced the carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NO2) share at the lean mixture. The hydrogen addition significantly improved the heat release rate compared with pure gasoline; however, the heat released was close to the top dead center due to its fast burning speed. The ethanol addition improved the first law performance of the engine, e.g., power and efficiency; however, at the cost of increased heat loss. It also improved the indicated work availability in comparison with the addition of hydrogen.

The chemical constituents and insecticidal activity of the pods of Senna italica (Caesalpiniaceae, Fabaceae) were investigated. From the chloroform extract of pods, physcion, chrysophanol, chrysophanol-10,10′-bianthrone, chrysophanol-physcion bianthrone and chrysophanol-isophyscion bianthrone, were isolated and characterized using different spectral methods. The GC-MS of the n-hexane extract revealed that the major chemical constituents of the oil were 2,6,-di-sec-butylphenol (36.69 %), di-n-octylphthalate (12.06 %), eicosane (5.46 %), tetratriacontane (4.87 %) and 2,2'-methylenebis[6-(1,1-dimethyl)-4-methylphenol (4.18 %). The n-hexane extract showed potent insecticidal activity (100 %) against Callosbruchus analis F. This study suggests that S. italica pods cannot be a source of sennosides but for other bioactive compounds.

Stratigraphical and sedimentological analyses of Late Neoproterozoic successions in Lesser Himalaya are combined herein with palaeogeographical considerations and comparisons with equivalent successions in India and South China. The succession starts with the Hazara Formation, which contains complete and incomplete Bouma sequences suggesting its deposition in deep marine turbidite settings. The overlying Tanawal Formation, rich in massive sandstone, shale and siltstone, was deposited in shallow marine conditions, as indicated by the presence of parallel lamination, large scale tabular, trough cross- and hummocky cross-stratifications. The Tanawal Formation facies shift laterally from proximal (south-southeast) to distal (north-northwest). The glaciogenic Tanaki Boulder Bed, overlying the Tanawal Formation, was deposited during the Maronian glaciation. It is equivalent to the Blaini Formation of India, and to the Sinian diamictites of South China. The Abbottabad Formation of Cambrian age overlies the Tanaki Boulder Bed, and is composed of dolomite, chert nodules and phosphate-rich packages; similar successions are documented in India and South China at the same stratigraphical interval. The similarities of the Neoproterozoic successions of Lesser Himalaya (both in Pakistan and India) and South China suggests their possible proximity during the break-up of Rodinia and the assembly of the Gondwana Supercontinent.

Attempts were made to optimize variables affecting the yield of linseed oil biodiesel in a base catalyzed transesterification reaction. The variables studied were reaction temperature (40-70oC), catalyst (NaOH) concentration (0.1-1.5%) and reaction time (30-180 min). The conversion of linseed oil into methyl esters was confirmed through analytical methods like 1H NMR, gas chromatography (GC) and refractometer. The maximum biodiesel yield (97š1.045% w/w) was obtained at 0.5% catalyst concentration, 65oC temperature, 180 min reaction time and 6:1 molar ratio of methanol to oil. 1H NMR confirmed the practically obtained % conversion of triglycerides into methyl esters which was further evidenced by refractometer analyses. The refractive index of biodiesel samples was lower than pure linseed oil. GC analysis confirmed the presence of linolenic acid (C18:3) as the dominant fatty acid (68 wt. %) followed by oleic acid (C18:1), linoleic acid (C18:2) and stearic acid (C18:0) respectively. The physical properties of linseed oil biodiesel like specific gravity (0.90 g/cm3) and flash point (177oC) were higher than American Society for Testing and Materials standards (ASTM 6751) for biodiesel. However, kinematic viscosity (3.752 mm2/s) was in the range of ASTM standards.

Introduction: Medicinal plants are found throughout the world but most are considered weeds. They are – directly or indirectly – the major source of medicines in pharmaceutical and herbal industries. Formulations used to prepare medicines or the method of use for these plants are mainly based on folk or traditional knowledge. This folk knowledge is not documented in many areas and needs to be explored. Objectives: This study was aimed to enlist the seasonal weed species with traditional medicinal usage in Toba Tek Singh District, Punjab, Pakistan. Methods: Field surveys were arranged in winter and summer 2019–2020 to enlist the important medicinal weeds and traditional knowledge of the local community. Data collected were as follows: local name of weed, medicinal use, method and part used. Results: Numerous wild perennial, biennial and annual plants were identified, 30 of them were ethnomedicinally important in the local community. They were grouped in 16 families. It was found that whole weed is used in many prescriptions (37%). Achyranthes aspera L. (Amaranthaceae) was the most common weed used in treating fevers, respiratory problems and asthma. Cichorium intybus L. (Asteraceae) was used in summer drinks to reduce thirst, improve digestion and liver function. Chenopodium album L. (Amaranthaceae) was used with 0.71 UV and 0.147 RFC values. Medicago polymorpha L. (Fabaceae) was used to treat kidney, intestinal and bladder infections. Its UV was 0.65 and RFC was 0.121. Tribulus terrestris L. (Zygophyllaceae) was used in impotency treatment, and in the removal of kidney stones and urinary tract infections treatment. It has 0.63 UV and 0.21 RFC values. This weed also showed the highest Fidelity Level (FL) (77%), as compared to other weeds. Conclusion: It was concluded that there are many significant medicinal weeds in the Toba Tek Singh District, Punjab, Pakistan that are used in traditional medicines in treating various disorders. These plants also showed herbal or pharmacological importance that can be used to develop medicine at commercial scale.

Opis:
Purpose: The present work aims to investigate the influence of CO2 laser spot welding (LSW) parameters on welding profile and mechanical properties of lap joint of AISI 321 thin sheet metals, and analyze the welding profile numerically by finite element (FE) method. Design/methodology/approach: The weld carried out using 150 W CO2 continues wave laser system. The impact of exposure time and laser power on the welding profile was investigated using an optical microscope. Microhardness and tensile strength tests were used to evaluate the mechanical properties of the joint. Ansys software was utilized to simulate the welding profile numerically. Findings: The results revealed that 2 s exposure time and 50 W power have led to uniform welding profile and highest shear force (340 N), lower hardness gradient across the heat affected zone (HAZ) and fusion zone (FZ). Finite element (FE) analysis of the welding profile showed good agreement with experimental analysis. Research limitations/implications: The selection of laser spot welding parameters for thin sheet metal was critical due to the probability of metal vaporisation with extra heat input during welding. Practical implications: Laser welding of AISI 321 steel is used in multiple industrial sectors such as power plants, petroleum refinement stations, pharmaceutical industry, and households. Thus, selecting the best welding parameters ensures high-quality joint. Originality/value: The use of CO2 laser in continuous wave (CW) mode instead of pulse mode for spot welding of thin sheet metal of AISI 321 austenitic stainless steel consider a real challenge because of the difficulty of control the heat input via proper selection of the welding parameters in order to not burn the processed target. Besides, the maintenance is easier and operation cost is lower in continuous CO2 than pulse mode.

Multi-step martensitic transformation in an aged Ni-rich binary NiTi shape memory alloy is considered as usual behavior during transformation from austenite to martensite phase; from (austenite) B2 to R-phase and then R-phase to B19' (monoclinic). However, for equi-atomic NiTi-based quaternary high temperature shape memory alloy, two-step martensitic transformation was detected for the first time. The $Ti_{50}Ni_{15}Pd_{25}Cu_{10}$ high temperature shape memory alloys were investigated for the evolution of transformation temperatures at aging temperature of 550°C and 700°C. Aging at 550°C for 6 h resulted in significant reduction of phase transformation temperatures. During forward transformation from austenite to martensite, two-step martensitic transformation B2 → R and R → B19 (orthorhombic) was observed. By aging the alloy at 700°C for 6 h, no significant effect was found on phase transition behavior and transformation temperatures.

We propose an indirect method of ASTM D-1200 for measurement of viscosity from 0.1 to 30 stokes (St) using Ford cup 5 (range 2~ 12 St) by developing a statistical relation. General purpose low styrene content polyester resin (without adding initiator, hardener and accelerator) was used for viscosity measurement. In existing ASTM D 1200 standard, ford cups (1-4) are used to measure the viscosity up to 2 St, while fifth cup is used for measurement from 2 to 12 St. Viscosity above 12 St is not estimated using existing ASTM D- 1200 method. In contrast, our method and statistical relation proposed in this paper estimates viscosity in the flexible range of 0.1 to 30 St by using Ford cup 5 only. The estimated values were confirmed by existing ASTM D-1200 (0.1 to 12 St) and by using Ubbelohde viscometer (12 to 30 St). Values estimated above 12 St are from the proposed model are also in good conformance (percentage error ~ 5% or less) with experimental results. The satisfaction level of the estimated values with the experiments suggests that the model has also the potential for application to paints, polymer and oil industry.

Time-Frequency (t-f) distributions are frequently employed for analysis of new-born EEG signals because of their non-stationary characteristics. Most of the existing time-frequency distributions fail to concentrate energy for a multicomponent signal having multiple directions of energy distribution in the t-f domain. In order to analyse such signals, we propose an Adaptive Directional Time-Frequency Distribution (ADTFD). The ADTFD outperforms other adaptive kernel and fixed kernel TFDs in terms of its ability to achieve high resolution for EEG seizure signals. It is also shown that the ADTFD can be used to define new time-frequency features that can lead to better classification of EEG signals, e.g. the use of the ADTFD leads to 97.5% total accuracy, which is by 2% more than the results achieved by the other methods.
