Opis:
This concept paper described the process of bridging the gaps in one of the methods for determining wheel over point (WOP). WOP is a marking made on charted courses to indicate a point at which a ship should change course. Identifying WOP is vital to avoid the vessel overshooting the planned track. One method for determining WOP is the advanced transfer technique. However, two issues were identified while reviewing this technique. Therefore, an improved mathematical model could be developed to overcome these problems. A manoeuvring analysis using a ship simulator will be performed to test the developed mathematical model's efficacy. The data obtained from the simulation study can be validated further by its adherence to the cross track limit, reduction in percentage change, and using IBM SPSS for the Mann-Whitney U test. The developed mathematical model is expectantly capable of producing a better track-keeping function and suitable for use onboard a cargo ship. The mathematical model also could be implemented as an algorithm in the Electronic Chart Display and Information System to help navigators make more efficient course changes.

The use of daymark shapes for leading lines include its visual shape and symbol, to aid sailors who need to navigate safely through a marked narrow channel. The shapes which are currently used are rectangles, diamonds, and triangles. However, there is not much information on which shape is the most effective for navigational referencing. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to determine the most effective shape for a leading line daymark. The Kemaman Port was used as an area of interest to model the three-dimensional simulation. The size and height of the leading line daymark was calculated based on the dimensions of the navigational channel obtained from the Kemaman Port navigation chart. The simulation for different shapes of the leading mark in the same area was developed using a three-dimensional software. Experts were engaged to evaluate the effectiveness of each daymark shape across the maximum and minimum distances during the simulation run. Results showed that the diamond shape daymark was relatively better identified and used as reference, compared to other shapes in the same range due to its relatively larger surface area. Therefore, the study objective was achieved, and the results can be used to improve marine navigation safety.

Introduction. Molecular studies have confirmed the silent circulation of enterovirus (EntV) and hepatitis A virus in the environment, even in the absence of clinical manifestation. Viral pathogens are among the major causes of disease outbreaks, particularly in the bigger cities and both in the developed and underdeveloped nations. Materials and method. Between June 2016 – June 2017, 97 samples of drinking water, river water polluted with sewage and blood were selected and obtained from high risk communities in Pakistan. Negatively charged membrane filters were used to concentrate the virus, followed by the use of specific PCR primers set for quick identification of the waterborne viruses. Results. Enteroviruses were recovered from 40%, 28.57% and 33.33% of river water polluted with sewage samples in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, respectively, while the presence of 13.13% and 11.76% of viral load was also confirmed in the drinking water of Lahore and Rawalpindi, respectively. A high prevalence of HAV (12.5% and 21.05%) was also verified in the clinical samples. Phylogenetic analysis indicated close resemblance of HAV isolates with the Indian strains. This study is the first ever comparative analysis of the EntV and HAV isolated from environmental samples and clinical specimen on a molecular level. Conclusions. The parallel surveillance of EntV and HAV in the river water polluted with sewage, and clinical samples is quite helpful for controlling and reducing the disease burden of the waterborne illnesses.

Opis:
Defect detection is an important step in industrial production of monocrystalline silicon. Through the study of deep learning, this work proposes a framework for classifying monocrystalline silicon wafer defects using deep transfer learning (DTL). An existing pre-trained deep learning model was used as the starting point for building a new model. We studied the use of DTL and the potential adaptation of Mo bileNetV2 that was pre-trained using ImageNet for extracting monocrystalline silicon wafer defect features. This has led to speeding up the training process and to improving performance of the DTL-MobileNetV2 model in detecting and classifying six types of monocrystalline silicon wafer defects (crack, double contrast, hole, microcrack, saw-mark and stain). The process of training the DTL-MobileNetV2 model was optimized by relying on the dense block layer and global average pooling (GAP) method which had accelerated the convergence rate and improved generalization of the classification network. The monocrystalline silicon wafer defect classification technique relying on the DTL-MobileNetV2 model achieved the accuracy rate of 98.99% when evaluated against the testing set. This shows that DTL is an effective way of detecting different types of defects in monocrystalline silicon wafers, thus being suitable for minimizing misclassification and maximizing the overall production capacities.

This paper describes the effect of pod propulsor attachment to the existing Naval Vessel hull form which was designed for conventional propulsor in aspects of resistance and motion characteristics. These investigations were carried out on a 3.0 m model by experimental works in the towing tank 120m x 4m x 2.5m at the Marine Technology Centre (MTC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The basis ship chosen for this study is Sealift class type MPCSS (Multi Purpose Command Support Ship). In this study, the design for the new pod propulsor is based on a proven design and scaled down to suit this type of hullform accordingly. This paper describes the resistance comparison between bare and podded hulls in calm water as well in waves. The seakeeping test for hull with and without pod in regular waves at service speed of 16.8 knots were carried out at wavelength to model length ratio, Lw/Lm between 0.2 and 1.2. The outcomes from this experimental works on hull with and without pod were compared.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of spinning technologies and weave design on fabric mechanical and surface properties. For this purpose, ring spun (combed, carded) and open-end (OE) techniques were used to manufacture yarns of polyester cotton (50:50) which were used in the weft, and 100% cotton yarn in the warp. Plain, twill, and satin weave designs were selected to construct woven samples on a projectile loom. The variation in fabric tensile strength is obvious with respect to weave designs. Higher interlacing of yarn produces more crimp in the load bearing, which may cause lower breaking strength and fewer broad floats. The mechanical and surface properties of these fabric samples were investigated and statistical analysis was performed, which showed a significant effect of the spinning technique and weave design on these properties.

Jurassic rhynchonellide brachiopods from the Jordan Valley are herein revised and new taxa are added to the faunal list. In this study of Jurassic rhynchonellides from Wadi Zarqa, northwestern Jordan, we recognize the following taxa: Eurysites rotundus, Cymatorhynchia quadriplicata, Daghanirhynchia triangulata, D. angulocostata, Pycnoria magna, Schizoria elongata, and Schizoria cf. intermedia. The following new taxa are described: Daghanirhynchia susanae sp. nov. and Amydroptychus markowitzi sp. nov. The Middle Jurassic Mughanniyya Formation of northwest Jordan is dominated by limestone beds. The sedimentary environment is interpreted as neritic, light, and nutrient−rich resulting in high faunal diversity. The high rhynchonellide endemism of this fauna is yet another confirmation of pronounced Middle Jurassic endemism along the southern Tethyan margin of the Ethiopian Province. Brachiopods of the Jordanian Mughanniyya Formation can be correlated with the fauna of the Aroussiah Formation in Sinai and the Zohar and Matmor formations in Southern Israel.

In this paper, the nanocrystalline porous silicon (PSi) films are prepared by electrochemical etching of p-type silicon wafer with current density 7 mA/cm2 and etching times on the formation nano-sized pore array with a dimension of around different etching time. The films were characterized by the measurement of XRD, FTIR spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy properties (AFM). We have estimated crystallites size from X-Ray diffraction about nanoscale for porous silicon and Atomic Force microscopy confirms the nanometric size Chemical fictionalization during the electrochemical etching show on the surface chemical composition of PS. The etching possesses inhomogeneous microstructures that contain a-Si clusters (Si3–Si–H) dispersed in amorphous silica matrix. From the FTIR analyses showed that the Si dangling bonds of the as-prepared PS layer have large amount of Hydrogen to form weak Si–H bonds. The atomic force microscopy investigation shows the rough silicon surface, with increasing etching process (current density and etching time) porous structure nucleates which leads to an increase in the depth and width (diameter) of surface pits. Consequently, the surface roughness also increase.

We study the magnetic behavior of the diamond system. In this system diamond bulk is involved which is doped with different transition metals, namely Cu, Cd, Hg, and Zn. The VASP code is employed for all calculations which are based on density functional theory. The substitutional point defects is introduced in the diamond bulk and occupied by the transition metals. Results exhibit that all transition metals show ferromagnetism behavior and Cu is a good advocate of conductivity among all transition metals. The range of magnetic moments is 2.89, 1.99, 1.96, and 1.80 $μ_{B}$ per Cu, Cd, Hg, and Zn atom in diamond bulk, respectively. Strong magnetic behavior points out that these materials could be used for spintronics.

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the potential of chitosan alone and in combination with various agricultural wastes for the management of rootknot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on eggplant cv. ‘BR-112’ under greenhouse conditions. The results showed that chitosan as a single or joint treatment with agricultural wastes significantly (p ≤ 0.05) reduced root-knot indices, and the nematode population in soil. As a result, of this, the growth and growth yielding attributes of eggplant were remarkably augmented. Chitosan as an elicitor induced plant mediated systemic resistance against M. incognita in eggplant. The results of the study demonstrated that maximum reduction in eggmass/root, eggs/eggmasses, nematode population and root-knot indices, was acquired by the treatments: chitosan + onion and chitosan + mentha. It was followed by chitosan + Brassica, chitosan + urad and chitosan + coconut whereas, chitosan combined with corn cob waste was found to be the least effective when compared to the control. The application of chitosan alone was effective but not very satisfactory. Compared to the control applications of all the treatments significantly increased plant growth in terms of length, fresh and dry weights, pollen fertility, yield and biochemical parameters such as chlorophyll, carotenoid content and antioxidant enzymes. This may have been due to the eliciting activity of chitosan, causing systemic resistance in the plant and the release of various toxic chemical compounds during decomposition which have lethal effects against the second stage juveniles of M. incognita and nematode multiplication.
