    The aim of the research was to find out the time reaction in a jump after a sound and visual stimulus. Another aim was to define the power of legs among the hockey field players during the pre-season and start season. The result of the hockey field players’ from AZS AWF Poznań and the Polish National Team were the subject of the research, which was carried out twice by the system of optical research – Opto-jump. The somatic and fat measurements were made. The results of the selected group (Polish National Men’s Team) may give the vision of the model of the players their power of the legs, the reaction time at a sound and visual stimulus. Thanks to these results we can compare them with the league team and follow the changes of the parameters level during the training season. In conclusion the training season didn’t have any essential influence on the measured parameters. The Polish Representation results were at far higher level than the league team. We can confirm that the level of the measured features don’t change in a training year.

    Opis:
    Certain aspects of determination of continuous cooling conditions directly after forging and their applicability to industrial conditions are discussed. On example of high-pressure-pump crankshaft problems concerning realization of drop forging of microalloyed-steel forged shaft with thermomechanical treatment involving subsequent direct controlled cooling are presented. The paper is focused on determination of both forging conditions and subsequent cooling parameters, which in combination with modelling of precipitation kinetics in the analysed steel allowed accomplishment of required final mechanical properties of the forged part. For the determined conditions of thermomechanical treatment experimental trials in industrial conditions were carried out. Obtained in simulation pattern of continuous cooling was realized with a line consisting of six stages of controlled rate of stirred air flow. Satisfactory level of mechanical properties, exceeding minimum of the assumed requirements was reported, as well as uniform fine grained microstructure regardless of cross-sectional dimensions, meeting the requirements of automotive industry.
    Przedstawiono niektóre zagadnienia dotyczące doboru warunków kontrolowanego chłodzenia odkuwek matrycowych bezpośrednio po kuciu i ich stosowalności w warunkach przemysłowych. Na przykładzie odkuwki wału korbowego pompy wysokociśnieniowej samochodu osobowego przedstawiono próbę zastosowania obróbki cieplnoplastycznej z uwzględnieniem warunków technologicznych jej realizacji dla odkuwek ze stali z mikrododatkami. W pracy skupiono się na określeniu zarówno warunków kucia matrycowego, jak równiez parametrów bezpośredniego chłodzenia z temperatury kucia, co w połączeniu z modelowaniem kinetyki wydzielania pozwoliło na uzyskanie założonych finalnych własności mechanicznych odkuwki. Dla określonych drogą modelowania numerycznego warunków obróbki cieplnoplastycznej przeprowadzono weryfikację doświadczalną w warunkach przemysłowych, przy wykorzystaniu specjalnej linii do ciagłego chłodzenia, składającej się z kilku stref chłodzenia z kontrolowaną szybkością. Wykonane próby przemysłowe zapewniły uzyskanie wymaganego poziomu własności mechanicznych i plastycznych odkuwki, a tym samym potwierdziły zasadność przyjętych warunków technologicznych.

    Opis:
    We describe and discuss the development of scenarios for the Colombian mining industry. The scenarios were developed with a large group of stakeholders from across the Colombian government, society, and commerce, all with interest in and/or affected by the future of the mining sector. The process resulted in the creation of three different scenarios for the Colombian mining sector to 2030. The article describes the participatory process used for involving the stakeholders, including the workshops and the mapping technique that was used. It also outlines the three scenarios and possible policies that should be considered by the Colombian government in order to prepare the sector for the future.

    In this paper the case of a patient subjected to orthopaedic treatment with a history of a number of internal comorbidities, cardiac ones in particular, has been reported. Cardiac comorbidities were related to the implantation of a VVI pacemaker. The patient was chronically administered acenocoumarol with a standard INR control. He developed infectious arthritis of the left knee joint. The condition was the indication for surgery. The surgical treatment was performed with the implementation of antithrombotic prophylaxis using low-molecular-weight heparin at a dose as prescribed by a cardiologist. The prescribed dosage of nadroparin – 100 mg – was higher than indicated in both Polish and international regimen standards. Higher dose was also maintained in next days that followed the surgery. Intra-articular haematoma occurred as a post-surgery complication, hence the revision of the knee joint was performed. The haematoma was diagnosed intraoperatively, then removed and pulsed lavage was performed. Garamycin sponge was applied to treat the inflammation. A targeted antibiotic therapy was continued. Surgical site drainage was performed for one day without the use of negative pressure. Thromboembolic prophylaxis was implemented in accordance with the applicable dosage regimen in Poland. In view of a vast majority of thrombosis risk factors, prolonged prophylaxis with heparin and return to acenocoumarol were indicated once the surgical would had healed. As a result, other early and late postoperative complications were avoided.
    W pracy zaprezentowano przypadek chorego leczonego ortopedycznie, z licznymi obciążeniami internistycznymi, szczególnie kardiologicznymi. Obciążenia kardiologiczne dotyczyły implantacji układu stymulującego mięsień sercowy typu VVI. Chory przewlekle przyjmował acenokumarol z klasyczną kontrolą INR. U pacjenta wystąpiło infekcyjne zapalenie lewego stawu kolanowego. Było ono wskazaniem do leczenia operacyjnego. Operację przeprowadzono z wdrożeniem profilaktyki przeciwzakrzepowej heparyną drobnocząsteczkową w dawce zaleconej przez kardiologa. Dawka zastosowanej nadroparyny była wyższa niż w zaleceniach polskich i światowych standardów i wynosiła 100 mg. Dawkę podwyższoną heparyny utrzymano również w kolejnych dobach pooperacyjnych. W przebiegu pooperacyjnym wystąpiło powikłanie pod postacią krwiaka śródstawowego, będące wskazaniem do rewizji kolana. Śródoperacyjnie stwierdzono krwiak śródstawowy, który usunięto, następnie wypłukano staw. Podano gąbkę garamycynową w procedurze leczenia procesu zapalnego. Kontynuowano antybiotykoterapię celowaną. Ranę pooperacyjną drenowano bez podciśnienia przez jedną dobę. Profilaktykę zakrzepowozatorową wdrożono w dawkach zgodnych z polskimi wytycznymi. Znaczna część czynników ryzyka zakrzepicy była wskazaniem do przedłużonej profilaktyki heparyną i powrotu do acenokumarolu po wygojeniu rany operacyjnej. Dzięki takiemu postępowaniu udało się uniknąć kolejnych powikłań w okresie pooperacyjnym wczesnym i odległym.

    The high mechanical properties of the Al-Li-X alloys contribute to their increasingly broad application in aeronautics, as an alternative for the aluminium alloys, which have been used so far. The aluminium-lithium alloys have a lower specific gravity, a higher nucleation and crack spread resistance, a higher Young’s module and they characterize in a high crack resistance at lower temperatures. The aim of the research planned in this work was to design an aluminium alloy with a content of lithium and other alloy elements. The research included the creation of a laboratorial melt, the microstructure analysis with the use of light microscopy, the application of X-ray methods to identify the phases existing in the alloy, and the microhardness test.

    The formation of the human conscience is a controverted question in both philosophical ethics and moral philosophy. Conscience refers to one’s conception and understanding of the moral good. An especially significant manifestation of the problem of conscience in the 20th and 21st centuries is the impact of ideology on the individual person’s moral sense. This article considers the impact of two 19th century philosophies―Mill’s utilitarianism and Marxism―on contemporary moral thought insofar as the interaction of these two produce a powerful materialist ideology to determine the modern European and American conscience. We then turn to the thought of Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyła), who in his encyclical Veritatis Splendor and in his earlier philosophical writings developed an account of moral truth by which the dangers of materialistic ideology can be overcome. It is argued, with John Paul II, that only in the context of truth can a coherent account of freedom of conscience under the moral law be developed.

    Throughout his philosophical writings and, indeed, into his papacy, Karol Wojtyła addresses and warns against two common errors in modern philosophy. The first is the reduction of our concept of reality to materialistic premises. In Love and Responsibility, he distinguishes the “biological order”, which is the order studied according to the canons of biological sciences, from the “order of being,” which is the order of reality knowable to metaphysics. This confusion leads to misunderstanding in ethics. The second error is complementary to the first and consists in what Wojtyła calls the “hypostatization of consciousness,” which is the reduction of personal experience entirely to the contents of consciousness. The historical roots of this error trace back to Descartes and his identification of himself as a “thinking thing,” whose body is simply an extended 3-dimensional solid in space and time. Both errors arise from a neglect or even a rejection of metaphysics, without which it is impossible to give an adequate account of the human being.
    W swoich pismach filozoficznych, nawet w tych z okresu pontyfikatu, Karol Wojtyła odnosi się do dwóch powszechnych błędów we współczesnej filozofii i ostrzega przed nimi. Pierwszy polega na sprowadzeniu naszego pojęcia rzeczywistości do przesłanek materialistycznych. W książce Miłość i odpowiedzialność odróżnia „porządek biologiczny”, który jest porządkiem badanym według reguł nauk biologicznych, od „porządku bytu”, który jest porządkiem rzeczywistości, który poznaje metafizyka. To zamieszanie prowadzi do nieporozumień w etyce. Drugi błąd dopełnia pierwszy i polega na tym, co Wojtyła nazywa „hipostatyzacją świadomości”, czyli sprowadzeniem osobistego doświadczenia całkowicie do treści świadomości. Historyczne korzenie tego błędu sięgają Kartezjusza i jego postrzegania siebie jako „rzeczy myślącej”, której ciało jest po prostu rozszerzonym trójwymiarowym ciałem stałym w przestrzeni i czasie. Oba błędy wynikają ze zignorowania, a nawet odrzucenia metafizyki, bez której nie można adekwatnie opisać istoty ludzkiej.
