- Opis:
- The authors have examined the stools and rectal swabs collected from children from 27 institutions (nurseries, kindergartens and schools). Among the 2405 examined children, 321 were infected with lambliosis (i. e. 13,3 per cent). The authors have also examined 2835 membres of the families of all the infected children. Lamblias have been isolated in 128 persons (11,6 per cent) in children and youngsters up to the age of 18 and in 34 persons (1,9 per cent) in adults. The children and youngsters have been infected with lamblias 6-7 times more often than the adults. As far, as the general number of the infected persons was concerned, 24,8 per cent of mixed infections were recorded; the most frequent mixed infections were Lamblia intestinalis plus Enterobius vermicularis and Lamblia intestinalis plus Trichocephalus trichiurus. About 80 per cent of the patients exhibited the following symptoms: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, general weakness, anaemia, body weight deficiency, increased irritability etc. After the first series of the atebrin treatment 91 per cent of the patients have recovered. The authors express the view that the Intestinal Diseases Clinic should play an important role in the contrnl of the intestinal parasitic diseases and should be the main centre of prophylaxis.
