    Excavations conducted in 1999 in Łódź Łaskowice, site 273 were of rescue character. As a result, the western edge of a multicultural settlement complex has been excavated. The area included elements of the Świder culture (late Paleolithic), Trzciniec culture (II and I/III periods of the Bronze Age), Lusatian culture (Hallstatt D), Przeworsk culture (Roman period) and the Middle Ages. Relics of the Trzciniec culture (most of settlement pits, cultural layer, prevailing part of material) were predominant among the distinguished units. Elements typical of its classical development stage - period II of the Bronze Age as well as younger materials representing the declining phase dated to the turn of period II. As regards establishing chronology of the finds, ceramic materials are of great importance. They comprise elements referring to older development period of the Trzciniec culture (bowls, elements of the Otomani culture), which should be recognized as the earliest in the assemblage. The classical Trzciniec culture is represented by typical vessels with thickened rims, decorated with plastic round bands. Determinant of late development phases is, among others, vase form decorated with plastic bow-shaped band placed on the belly. The elements under consideration are dated by numerous analogies from Little Poland to the turn of period II of the Bronze Age. A considerable concentration of Trzciniec culture settlement points has been registered around the discussed site. In period III of the Bronze Age this centre became a starting point of an early phase of the Lusatian culture - Konstantynów group on the upper Ner. The Lusatian culture materials from its declining period (Hallstatt D) appeared on the discussed site, though on a smaller scale. The materials probably correspond to the east-Great-Poland group. The other units that have been distinguished at the beginning of the work have been recorded within the excavated area of the site in scanty amount.

    The article contains general information concerning possibilities of machine production of wicker products. Presently used machines in Poland for sewing wicker mats are presented. Their advantages and disadvantages as well as ways and possibilities of improvement of the whole production process are discussed. Directions of further development and auto-mation of the process of sewing wicker mats have been indicated.

    The article analyses relationship patterns as predictors of relationship status (having vs not having a partner) among female university students. Inner relationship patterns were identified on the basis of written statements on significant relations. The statements were obtained through the Relationship Anecdotes Paradigm (RAP), which allows the acquisition of autobiographic records of narrative nature on personally significant interpersonal relations. The results of the analysis based on the concept of Core Conflictual Relationship Theme (CCRT) helped predict whether a respondent has a partner thanks to only one category of relationship patterns – the desire of the self to feel well and comfortably, to have a sense of stability, to feel happy and self-satisfied, triggered in the context of referring to a significant interpersonal relation in the narratives. The other aspects of the patterns – responses of the other to the self’s desire and the response of the self to the reactions of the other – do not markedly affect the prediction of the relationship status.

    The paper tries to sum up the celebrations to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Third Republic in 1989 and to present them in the context of the ‘remembrance policy’,meaning the endeavors various circles are engaged in to shape Polish society’s collective memory. The authors analyze the celebrations in terms of several selected aspects. The first one concerns the academic field: conferences, seminars and resulting publications. Another aspect refers to the official celebrations organized by state institutions. The third is about the response and debates taking place in newspapers at that time. The review of different ways of commemorating the anniversary results in the conclusion that they were all strongly politicized and used for the purposes of the current political struggle. This was particularly clear during the official celebrations, divided into those organized by the government and president respectively, yet even the events organized under academic auspices were not free from political manipulation. Therefore, the celebrations corroborated the fact that 1989 has not strongly registered in Poles’ awareness as a generational experience that positively organizes the collective memory; the celebrations did not stimulate a nationwide reflection on the achieve- ments of the era commenced with the events of 1989. They did not make a contribution to creating in the collective memory a ‘national consensus of pride’ at the regained statehood reminiscent of that of the Second Republic.

    The computer model of the scarification machine was created at the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Poznań with the participation of employees from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and the University of Agriculture in Krakow. The automaton is the result of the project, which aim was to develop, build and test an automatic device used to carry out the scarification of oak seeds for later shortening and balancing of germination period and elimination of sick and spoiled seeds. The paper presents the results of kinematic and strength analyzes of selected elements of the research model of a scarifying machine - the course of the peripheral speed, acceleration, torque and stress generated during the rotation of the arm.
    Komputerowy model automatu do skaryfikacji powstał w Przemysłowym Instytucie Maszyn Rolniczych w Poznaniu przy współudziale pracowników z Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej w Krakowie oraz Uniwersytetu Rolniczego w Krakowie. Automat ten jest efektem zrealizowania projektu, którego celem było opracowanie, zbudowanie i przetestowanie automatycznego urządzenia służącego do prowadzenia skaryfikacji nasion dębu w celu późniejszego skrócenia i wyrównania okresu kiełkowania oraz eliminacji chorych i zepsutych nasion. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz kinematycznych i wytrzymałościowych wybranych elementów modelu badawczego automatu skaryfikującego – przebieg wartości prędkości obwodowej, przyspieszenia, momentu obrotowego oraz naprężenia generowanych podczas obrotu ramienia.
