Opis:
The density, compressive strength, and thermal insulation properties of fly ash geopolymer paste are reported. Novel insulation material of glass bubble was used as a replacement of fly ash binder to significantly enhance the mechanical and thermal properties compared to the geopolymer paste. The results showed that the density and compressive strength of 50% glass bubble was 1.45 g/cm3 and 42.5 MPa, respectively, meeting the standard requirement for structural concrete. Meanwhile, the compatibility of 50% glass bubbles tested showed that the thermal conductivity (0.898 W/mK), specific heat (2.141 MJ/m3 K), and thermal diffusivity (0.572 mm2 /s) in meeting the same requirement. The improvement of thermal insulation properties revealed the potential use of glass bubbles as an insulation material in construction material.

Opis:
This research will focus on the major solar flares (X-Class) from active region AR 10720. All the data were retrieved and analysed from authority agencies which are SOHO and NOAA. From X-ray data, AR 10720 was producing 5 major solar flares namely X1.2, X2.6, X3.8, X1.3 and X7.1 from 106 of total solar flares. From data analysis, all major solar flares were associated with full halo coronal mass ejection (CME) except for solar flare X1.2. If major solar flare happened early, it will potentially to happened again in the same AR in the range 1-3 days. The speed of halo-CME was producing more than 1,000 kms-1. The Dst index shows all major solar flares affected the earth magnetic field and lead to geomagnetic storms in the ranges 1-3 days after the flares events. From proton speed data shows there is no obvious pattern towards major solar flares. From of all these data, prediction of major solar flares can be made in futures research.

Opis:
This paper details a finite element analysis of the behaviour of Si-Al geopolymer concrete beam reinforced steel bar under an impulsive load and hyper velocity speed up to 1 km/s created by an air blast explosion. The initial torsion stiffness and ultimate torsion strength of the beam increased with increasing compressive strength and decreasing stirrup ratio. The study involves building a finite element model to detail the stress distribution and compute the level of damage, displacement, and cracks development on the geopolymer concrete reinforcement beam. This was done in ABAQUS, where a computational model of the finite element was used to determine the elasticity, plasticity, concrete tension damages, concrete damage plasticity, and the viability of the Johnson-Cook Damage method on the Si-Al geopolymer concrete. The results from the numerical simulation show that an increase in the load magnitude at the midspan of the beam leads to a percentage increase in the ultimate damage of the reinforced geopolymer beams failing in shear plastic deformation. The correlation between the numerical and experimental blasting results confirmed that the damage pattern accurately predicts the response of the steel reinforcement Si-Al geopolymer concrete beams, concluded that decreasing the scaled distance from 0.298 kg/m3 to 0.149 kg/m3 increased the deformation percentage.

Opis:
Uniform germanium islands (GIs) were grown on Si (100) using a nickel layer as catalyst through the physical vapor deposition of germanium (Ge) powder at 1000°C at different deposition times. Prior to the deposition of Ge layer, nickel (Ni) catalyst was deposited on silicon substrates via radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique. Scanning electron microscopy results showed that the increase in deposition time resulted in a variation in surface morphology. Energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer analysis found that the GI samples composed of Ni element indicating the role of Ni in uniform Ge islands formation. The X-ray diffraction pattern spectra revealed that the GIs exhibited a Ge cubic structure and the intensity of Ge peaks varies with deposition time. In-plane strain indicated that the strain caused by the substrate is tensile and changed to compressive strain at the longer deposition time. The Raman spectra exhibited a red shift in the Ge-Ge peak, compared with the bulk Ge, as a result of compressive strain of the GIs. Fourier transform infrared spectrum analysis also indicated that the optical band gap Eg values of GIs can be varied by deposition time.

Opis:
This paper presents an automation process is a need in the agricultural industry specifically chili crops, that implemented image processing techniques and classification of chili crops usually based on their color, shape, and texture. The goal of this study was to develop a portable sorting machine that will be able to segregate chili based on their color by using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and to analyze the performance by using the Plot Confusion method. A sample of ten green chili images and ten red chili images was trained by using Learning Algorithm in MATLAB program that included a feature extraction process and tested by comparing the performance with a larger dataset, which are 40 samples of chili images. The trained network from 20 samples produced an overall accuracy of 80 percent and above, while the trained network from 40 samples produced an overall accuracy of 85 percent. These results indicate the importance of further study as the design of the smart sorting machine was general enough to be used in the agricultural industry that requires a high volume of chili crops and with other differentiating features to be processed at the same time. Improvements can be made to the sorting system but will come at a higher price.
