Opis:
Effects of prohexadione-calcium (ProCa, 125 and 250 mgL–1) and ProCa + ammonium sulfate (AMS, 500 mgL–1) treatments on vegetative characteristics (shoot growth, branch diameter, trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA), canopy volume, number of flower per cm2, number of fruits per cm2) and quality parameters (fruit size, flesh firmness, color, titratable acidity and soluble solids content (SSC)) of ‘0900 Ziraat’ sweet cherry were investigated in this study. Solutions were sprayed when the shoots were just 10 cm long in 2014 and 2015. As compared to control, in 2015, TCSA decreased only with ProCa treatments (125 and 250 mgL–1) and canopy volume and shoot length decreased with all treatments. On the other hand, number of flower and fruit per cm2 significantly increased with all treatments. While there were not significant differences in fruit size, flesh firmness, color, SSC and titratable acidity values were significantly lower in 250 mgL–1 ProCa and 250 mgL–1 ProCa + AMS treatments. It was concluded that ProCa treatments could be used as an efficient tool for suppression of shoot growth and to increase the number of flower and fruits per cm2 in ‘0900 Ziraat’ sweet cherry cultivar.

Opis:
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of pre-harvest Harpin treatments and post-harvest MAP treatments on fruit quality attributes and bioactive compounds of ‘0900 Ziraat’ cherry cultivar throughout cold storage and shelf life of the fruits. Weight loss and decay ratios were significantly reduced with Harpin and MAP treatments. In general, lower L* and chroma values were measured in Harpin-treated fruits. As compared to control fruits, higher firmness, titratable acidity and vitamin C contents were measured in MAP and Harpin + MAP treated fruits throughout the cold storage and shelf life. On the other hand, lower solible solids content (SSC) values were observed in the same treatments. At harvest and shelf life measurements, higher total monomeric anthocyanin (TMA) and total phenolics (TPs) were measured in Harpintreated fruits than in control fruits. Although lower anthocyanin contents were obtained from MAP-treated fruits throughout the cold storage, higher values were observed throughout shelf life. Throughout cold storage and shelf life, MAP-treated fruits had lower total phenolics and total antioxidant activity (according to FRAP and TEAC assay) values than the control and Harpin-treated fruits. It was concluded that Harpin and MAP treatments could be used reduce weight losses and decays throughout the cold storage.

Opis:
The study was conducted in 2017 in the district of Sivas. In the study, 20 genotypes, which are considered to be different from each other, taking into account the fruit characteristics such as color and size and shape, were determined from the hawthorns that were naturally grown in the flora of Suşheri. At harvest time, the fruit, which would be adequate for pomological and biochemical measurements and analyzes, was harvested. According to the results of the measurements and analyzes in the study, fruit weight was found to vary between 0.68 g and 6.35 g, fruit width was between 10.52 and 29.48 mm and fruit length was between 11.40 and 20.67 mm. The highest firmness values were recorded with the genotype (G) 20 genotype, while the G4 had the lowest values in terms of the firmness values of the fruit flesh. While there are no significant differences between the pH values of the genotypes, the differences between the genotypes in terms of SSC, TA and vitamin C contents are quite significant. It has been found that there are significant differences between the genotypes in terms of total phenolic, total flavonoid and antioxidant activity. The total phenolic content ranged from 218.8 (G17) to 605.8 (G5 and G8) mg GAE kg⁻¹ f.w., while the lowest total flavonoid content was 21.58 (G 17) and the highest total flavonoid content was 67.75 (G9) mg GAE kg⁻¹ f.w. When the antioxidant activity was evaluated, the DPPH values were 1.08 (G17) – 15.43 (14) mmol TE kg⁻¹ f.w., the FRAP values were 15.43 (G16) – 47.23 (G8) mmol TE kg⁻¹ f.w. respectively.

Opis:
Productivity of plants is determined by multiple factors that directly affect one another, therefore yield variability may be high and difficult to predict. Most often, however, a lower crop yield is achieved in the notillage system than in the ploughing system. An exact field experiment was undertaken to determine the yield and chemical composition of pea seeds sown under conditions of: 1) conventional tillage – CT (shallow ploughing and harrowing after the harvest of previous crop, pre-winter ploughing in winter); 2) reduced tillage – RT (stubble cultivator after the harvest of previous crop); and 3) herbicide tillage – HT (only glyphosate after the harvest of previous crop). A cultivation unit was applied on all plots in the springtime. Pea seed yield was higher by 14.1% in the CT than in the RT system and by 50.5% than in the HT system. The CT system was increasing the plant number m–2, number of pods and seeds m–2, seed mass per plant, and 1000 seeds mass, compared to the other systems. Protein content of seeds was at a similar level in all analyzed tillage systems, but was affected by the study year. In turn, the mineral composition of seeds was determined by both tillage system and study year. The seeds harvested from CT plots contained more phosphorus and iron, those from RT plots – more calcium and zinc, whereas those from HT plots – more phytate-P, potassium, magnesium, and copper, compared to the seeds from the other plots.

Opis:
The effects of combined aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) treatments on quality attributes of ‘0900 Ziraat’ sweet cherry fruit during the cold storage and shelf life were investigated in this study. Significantly lower weight loss and decay ratios were observed in all treatments throughout the cold storage period as compared to the control. A similar case was also observed referring to the shelf life. MAP treatments were found to be more effective in retarding the weight loss and decay ratio. Higher hue angle values were measured from AVG-treated fruit at harvest. Similarly, hue angle of AVG and MAP-treated fruit were also higher than for the control in all periods of cold storage and on the 7th and 21st day of shelf life. AVG-treated fruit had higher firmness values than the control at harvest. However, higher firmness values were measured from MAP-treated fruit during the cold storage and shelf life. At the end of cold storage, lower SSC and higher titratable acidity values were observed in AVG and MAP-treated fruit than in the control. AVG + MAP treatments yielded significantly higher vitamin C, total phenolics and antioxidant activity values than the control. Contrarily, the control fruit had significantly higher total monomeric anthocyanin than the other treatments. Based on current findings, it was concluded that combined AVG + MAP treatments could be used as a beneficial tool to maintain the quality of sweet cherry fruit throughout the cold storage and shelf life.
