    Celem artykułu jest wskazanie jako przyczyn dyskryminacji kobiet w sferze publicznej mechanizmów wykluczenia tkwiących w samych założeniach liberalno-demokratycznego porządku politycznego. Pierwsza część artykułu wskazuje na liberalne koncepcje podmiotu politycznego, obywatelskości i dyskursu publicznego jako utrudniające kobietom funkcjonowanie w sferze publicznej. W części drugiej tekstu rozważana jest odpowiedź na pytanie, czy niewykluczająca wspólnota jest możliwa. Przywołując koncepcję demokracji komunikacyjnej otwartej na różnice autorka proponuje wprowadzenie w życie pewnych założeń i strategii mających na celu osiągniecie przez kobiety statusu równoprawnych członków wspólnoty politycznej.
    The aim of the article is to point out the mechanisms of exclusion in the conceptual basis of liberal democracy. The first part discusses the concept of the political agent, citizenship and public discourse and brings the explanations why these categories could be discriminating for women. In the second part text considers the question if the non-exclusive public community could be theoretically possible. Invoking the concept of communicative democracy open to the category of difference author proposes some premises and strategies for implementation in order to make women’s participation in the political community more equal.

    Celem badań była próba odpowiedzi na pytanie o cechy publicznych zachowań komunikacyjnych aktywistów politycznych - kobiet i mężczyzn. Przeprowadzono dwa badania, których przedmiotem uczyniono zachowania komunikacyjne polityków (kobiet i mężczyzn), analizowane ze względu na rodzaj poruszanej problematyki (badanie 1) i sposób autoprezentacji (badanie 2). Łącznie analizowano 120 przekazów komunikacyjnych (po 60 w każdym z badań) polityków różniących się płcią i przynależnością do ugrupowań politycznych. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na brak istotnych statystycznie różnic pomiędzy politykami mężczyznami a politykami - kobietami zarówno w zakresie podejmowanej problematyki, jak i ujawnianych strategii autoprezentacji obronnej (obrona przez atak i obrona przez unikanie). Jakkolwiek w odniesieniu do techniki autoprezentacji asertywnej zaobserwowano zróżnicowanie międzygrupowe na poziomie tendencji, techniki asertywne w większym stopniu ujawniane były przez mężczyzn.
    The aim of the study was to compare the communication strategies of women and men in politics. Two different aspects of communication behaviors were investigated: the issues taken up by politicians (Study 1) and their self – presentation strategies (Study 2). One hundred twenty political statements of men and women affiliated with different political parties were studied (60 statements in each study). The results of these studies show that there were no significant differences between men and women in politics with respect to the issues they take up and the offensive self presentation strategies they show. However, in the case of the assertive self presentation strategy, a trend of between-groups differences was observed. Men tended to use assertive self presentation strategies to a greater degree than women.

    In democratic countries women’s political participation continues to be lower than men’s. Women are the second-class citizens. The aim of the article is to point out the mechanisms of exclusion that are rooted in the basis of liberal democracy. In the first part of the article I discuss the concept of the political agent, citizenship and public discourse and I explain why I see these categories as discriminating against women. Moreover, I analyze the liberal idea of difference as inclusion criteria that women are not able to meet. In the second part I try to answer the question if the non-exclusive public community could be possible. Invoking the concept of communicative democracy I propose some premises and strategies to implement in order to make women participation in the political community equal.

    Monografia podejmuje problematykę dyskryminacji kobiet w medialnym dyskursie politycznym. Ramę teoretyczną pracy stanowią koncepcje Michela Foucaulta, Pierre’a Bourdieu, Ervinga Goffmana i Anthony’ego Giddensa. W badaniu pytanie nadrzędne dotyczy sposobu, w jaki artykułowane są zawodowe tożsamości polityczek w perspektywie gender w wybranych dziennikach i tygodnikach w latach 2016-2018. Pytania szczegółowe dotyczą dyskursywnych mechanizmów konstruowania zawodowych tożsamości polityczek, kategoryzacji tematów związanych z polityczną agendą feministyczną oraz odwołań do stereotypowych cech i ról płciowych w tożsamościach zawodowych polityczek. W badaniu wykorzystano strategię metodologiczną łączącą KAD, perspektywę badań feministycznych oraz elementy analizy konwersacyjnej.
    The monograph addresses the issue of discrimination against women in political media discourse. The theoretical framework of the study is based on the concepts of Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, Erving Goffman, and Anthony Giddens. The main research question is the way in which the professional identities of women politicians are articulated in the gender perspective in the Polish press discourse of selected dailies and weeklies in 2016-2018. The detailed questions formulated in the study are: 1) the discursive mechanisms of constructing the professional identities of women politicians in press interviews, 2) the categorization of topics related to the feminist political agenda, and 3) references to stereotypical gender characteristics and roles in the professional identities of women politicians. In the study, a methodological strategy combining KAD, the perspective of feminist research (FKAD) and elements of conversational analysis was employed. The structure of the work is based on two main parts: theoretical and empirical-analytical. The theoretical part is built around two key issues: the definition of gender and the role of cultural and social determinants of gender in the political discourse, while the empirical-analytical part consists of three chapters. They are methodological, analytical, and summarizing the results of the analysis. The methodological chapter describes the analytical approach adopted in the study. The analytical chapter consists of three parts. The first section describes the mechanisms by which the professional identities of women politicians are constructed in press interviews. The second section is an analysis of the categories into which topics related to feminism are included in press interviews. The purpose of the third section is to analyze how politicians create their professional identifications in the press discourse by referring to stereotypical gender characteristics and roles. The book ends with the chapter in which the conclusions were formulated and the final analysis of the topic in the context of the research questions. An integral part of this work is an appendix which describes the press texts that form the basis of empirical survey.
