Opis:
The primary research interest in this text is the so-called transfer phase, transcoding or reprofiling the source text into the target text. In scientific terms, this is frequently referred to as language transfer from language A to language B or codeswitching from language A to language B. In the view of empirical research, projections concerning translation knowledge and skills should be identified and defined as mental and cognitive activity of a translator or an interpreter. Projections involve reference of constructs reconceptualised in the process of reception of the source text to given constituents of the translation task and at the same time to the target language and culture as well as the reference to thematised reality and other systems and categories which are being updated in a given process of translation.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present and confirm a given ontological truth which underlies every translation process being an act of communication. In other words, this paper aims at characterizing ontological specifics of translation process in its multi-dimensional diversity. Interpretative analysis of this issue is rooted in anthropocentric translation studies developed by F. Grucza. Moreover, it is based on its main paradigm and included in the tasks of pure translation studies which are to describe and characterize the model of translation relationship. Transcendence (Lat. transcendere) means to go beyond or to surpass the limits. Thus, strictly in reference to translation perceived as communication, it is the process of going beyond ontological limits which is characteristic to every linguistic communication. This process results in establishing a two-dimensional semiotic configuration in which a mental and conceptual construct (recognized by the subject who is communicatively active) remains in semiotic transcendence with the text being a materially existing signal and manifested by tangible signs.

Opis:
Several Thoughts About The Current State of Translation Science This paper is devoted to the analysis and discussion of current problems concerning translation science and its disciplinary, paradigmatic, conceptual and definitory diversity. Within translation science there are several disciplines of various names which even adopt contradictory definitions of what constitutes translation, what types of translation there are, or they use the names of translation types inconsistently and therefore directly affect the development of translation teaching and its application in practice. Neophilological gravitation can still be observed and it is gradually changing into a new paradigmatic and conceptual gravitation which results in isolation of certain translation researchers and lack of acceptance and appreciation of their work by given academic circles represented by leading figures in similar fields. Consequently, the existing and significant scientific outputs of some Polish researchers in the field of translation science frequently face competition or disapproval of fellow researchers representing opposite views. Such attitudes are to be observed even within a particular neophilological institute at the same university. The paper not only presents critical remarks on the abovementioned issues but also attempts to introduce order into given terminology concerning translation science and to put its sub-disciplines in a given hierarchy. Furthermore, the paper aims at providing clear boundaries between such notions as translation (pol. translacja), translation of written texts (pol. przekład) and interpreting of spoken texts (pol. tłumaczenie). The most significant definitory criterion to be adopted is consistent conception of the process of translation in its strategic, communicative and cognitive dimension.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to show what sort of translation problems appear in the adjective-substantive collocations in Polish and German. A special class of collocations is represented by lexicalised and idiomatised syntagmas. These units include characteristic attributive perspectives specified by the two languages and the two culture communities. This phenomeneon refers to conventional valuing, attributions and métaphorisations of concepts represented in substantives used. In this way collocations form and fix the cultural profiles of reality. Because of that they can be regarded as cognitive formulas which need to be reprofiled in a concrete translation process through their projection on the target language and culture. As a result of these cognitive and linguistic operations the translator identifies the convergences and divergences as determined by the language system and the text between both the two languages. He secondly constructs equivalent attributive profile of the concept transferred into the target text, thus guaranteeing the reciprocity of perspectives between both of the texts. The essay classifies the cases and types of disparities between Polish and German adjeck-tive-substantive collocations, showing how they can be reprofiled according to linguistic and cultural requirements of the target text. This class of translation problems is only a subfield of the larger domain, but the main mechanism of the important translation transfer can be already demonstrated and exemplified basing on these specific translation units.
