    The study presents the analysis of the process of crack formation and crack width growth in statically determinate and hyperstatic reinforced concrete beams with the IADP acoustic emission method. The beams were subjected to the monotonic, variable with unloading, and variable cyclic loading schemes. The criteria of structural damage were established to account for the structure durability.

    The study presented research on the possibility of using acoustic emission to detect and analyze the development of the alkali-silica reaction (ASR) in cement mortars. The experiment was conducted under laboratory conditions using mortars with reactive opal aggregate, accelerating the reaction by ensuring high humidity and temperature, in accordance with ASTM C227. The progress of corrosion processes was monitored continuously for 14 days. The tests were complemented with measurements of the expansion of the mortars and observations of microstructures under a scanning electron microscope. The high sensitivity of the acoustic emission method applied to material fracture caused by ASR enabled the detection of corrosion processes already on the first day of the test, much sooner than the first recorded changes in linear elongation of the specimens. Characteristic signal descriptors were analyzed to determine the progress of corrosion processes and indicate the source of the cracks. Analysis of recorded 13 AE parameters (counts total, counts to peak, duration, rise time, energy, signal strength, amplitude, RMS, ASL, relative energy, average frequency, initial frequency and reverberation frequency) indicates that the number of counts, signal strength and average frequency provide most information about the deleterious processes that occur in the reactive aggregate mortars. The values of RA (rise time/amplitude) and AF (average frequency) enabled the classification of detected signals as indicating tensile or shear cracks. The acoustic emission method was found suitable for monitoring the course of alkali-aggregate reaction effects.

    In this paper, a global monitoring system based on the measurement of acoustic emission (AE) due to active deterioration processes within steel structures is presented. This Allowi one to locate and identify deterioration processes (initiation and development of cracks) under cyclic load for large size structures as bridges, gantries, etc. The resulting data can be used to locate damage zones that are dangerous for construction, to assess the general condition of the structure and to serve for structural health monitoring.

    W budownictwie najczęściej używane są kompozyty z matrycą polimerową wypełnioną włóknami szklanymi, węglowymi, grafitowymi, polipropylenowymi oraz kevlarowymi. Szersze zastosowanie tych materiałów jest jednak ograniczone ze względu na brak dokładnej wiedzy o ich właściwościach i zachowaniu w różnych warunkach ekspo-zycji i pod różnym typem obciążenia. W literaturze powszechnie istnieje opinia, że kompozyty włókniste na bazie żywic polimerowych są odporne na działanie środowiska zasadowego i kwasowego, co w przypadku uwzględnienia obciążenia tych kompozytów nie jest prawdą. Kompozyty te w wyniku obciążenia mogą ulegać korozji naprężeniowej lub erozji, co powoduje zmniejszenie ich wytrzymałości, a w konsekwencji pękanie. Stosując metodę emisji akustycznej istnieje możliwość wykrywania i śledzenia procesów korozyjnych w kompozytach na bazie żywic epoksydowych i włókien szklanych, co jest niezmiernie ważne dla bezpieczeństwa użytkowanych konstrukcji.
    In the construction industry the most commonly used polymer matrix composites filled with fiberglass, carbon, graphite, polypropylene and Kevlar filaments. Wider application of these materials is however limited due to the lack of precise knowledge of their properties and behavior under different conditions of exposure and at different type of load. The literature generally there is a perception that fibrous composites based on polymer resins are resistant to alkaline and acidic environment, which in case the burden of these composites is not true. These composites as a result of the load can undergo stress corrosion or erosion, which reduces their strength, and consequently cracking.

    In this paper, a global monitoring system based on the measurement of acoustic emission (AE) due to active deterioration processes is presented. This allows us to examine the entire volume of an element and to locate and identify the type and the dynamics of the deterioration processes under service conditions. The resulting data are used to determine and locate the damage processes that are dangerous in construction made of pre-stress concrete, steel and fiber glass and to assess the general condition of the structure.

    The article presents the feasibility assessment and evaluation of technical conditions of basic structural elements of exhibition hall after the fire. The aim of this investigation was to develop the ways for further exploitation of the structure and to evaluate the extent of repairs to be done.The scope of investigation and the detailed methodology for the investigation is presented. Given is the impact of the fire load on the bearing capacity of structural elements. To asses the impact of the damages on the main load bearing beams, besides the standard tests, also the acoustic emission (AE) method was applied.

    Konstrukcje gruntowo-powłokowe są obecnie szeroko stosowane ze względu na swoje zalety, wśród których wymienić można: niższe koszty budowy i utrzymania obiektu, skrócony czas wykonania oraz uproszczenie konstrukcji w porównaniu z konstrukcjami klasycznymi. Nie bez znaczenia są również ich walory architektoniczne. Konstrukcje podatne wykazują jednak istotne różnice w budowie oraz sposobie pracy w stosunku do klasycznych konstrukcji sztywnych. Niezrozumienie zachodzących zjawisk może powodować występowanie błędów projektowych oraz wykonawczych, które mogą być przyczyną awarii, a w skrajnym przypadku nawet katastrofy. Odpowiednio wczesne wykrycie błędów i ich eliminacja pozwalają zatrzymać degradację obiektu i wydłużyć okres jego użytkowania. W celu wykrycia występujących nieprawidłowości należy zastosować nieniszczące metody badawcze (NDT), które umożliwiają ocenę poprawności wykonania zakrytych elementów konstrukcyjnych. Jedną z najpopularniejszych metod badawczych jest technika georadarowa,. Obecnie znajduje ona szerokie zastosowanie w budownictwie komunikacyjnym, gdzie wykorzystuje się ją do oceny stanu technicznego klasycznych konstrukcji mostowych, nawierzchni drogowych oraz lotniskowych, czy nasypów kolejowych. Do chwili obecnej metoda georadarowa nie znalazła jednak zastosowania w badaniach podatnych konstrukcji gruntowopowłokowych. W artykule przedstawiono przykład zastosowania techniki georadarowej do oceny poprawności wykonania oraz stanu technicznego obiektu mostowego typu SuperCor. Jako rezultat badań uzyskano serię radargramów przetworzonych przy użyciu dedykowanego oprogramowania, co umożliwiło określenie prędkości propagacji fali w warstwach konstrukcyjnych oraz wykrycie niewłaściwego wykonania warstw i elementów konstrukcyjnych obiektu. Występowanie tych anomalii może istotnie wpływać na trwałość obiektu.
    Soil-steel structures are widely used due to its advantages including lower cost of construction and maintenance, quicker construction process and simplification of structure in comparison to traditional structures. Architectural values are also significant. However flexible structures present relevant differences in structure and work manner in relation to traditional rigid objects. Lack of understanding of these phenomena may lead to design and execution faults that may be a reason of failure, and in an extreme case even a building collapse. Early detection of faults and its elimination allows to stop the deterioration of an object and to extend its service life. In order to detect existing incorrectness, the non-destructive testing methods (NDT) should be applied. These methods enable the assessment of inaccessible construction members execution correctness. One of the most popular testing methods is Ground Penetrating Radar technique. Presently it is widely applied in communication engineering for technical condition assessment of traditional bridge structures, road and airfield pavements or railway embankments. To date GPR method is not applied for flexible soil-steel structures assessment. This paper presents an example of GPR technique application for assessment ofexecution correctness and technical condition of a SuperCor flexible bridge structure. As a result a series of processed radargrams were obtained which allowed determination of wave propagation velocity, detection of improper execution of structural layers and construction members. The anomalies recorded may affect the life span of the structure.
