Opis:
Artykuł porusza zagadnienia zaangażowania i przywiązania organizacyjnego, a także psychologicznych kosztów pracy w postaci wypalenia zawodowego wśród pracujących w elastycznych formach zatrudnienia w Polsce.
The article examines the issue of organizational engagement and attachment as well as the psychological costs of work in the form of occupational burnout among employees encompassed by flexible forms of employment in Poland. The presented results of empirical studies cover 2,118 respondents employed under nine types of flexible work: contracts for a defied period of time, part–time employment, commission work, self–employment, remote workers, substitutes, temporary workers, and seasonal workers as well as people employed in the social economy. The research was exploratory in nature because of the dearth of data on these variables in Polish non–traditional forms of employment.

The article covers the issue of organisational attachment as well as the job satisfaction in the among staff under flexible employment in Poland. It presents the results of empirical studies covering 872 respon- dents employed (older than 40 years) under nine flexible forms of work: employed for a specified period of time, part-time, commission contracts (contracts of mandate), self-employed people, remote workers (telecommuters), for substitution, temporary and seasonal workers as well as employed under social economy. The research was exploratory in its character due to a lack of data on these variables in the Polish non-traditional forms of employment. Empirical results confirm that the results of organisational attachment and job satisfaction are average and probably don’t differ from the attitudes in traditional forms of employment.

Opis:
BackgroundEmployees in the aviation sector constitute an especially interesting professional group due to a lack of empirical data on their psychological functioning, and the fact that this industry is currently experiencing a phase of dynamic development. However, taking into consideration the automation and specific qualities of the sector, human resources should be given much more attention as they are constantly challenged and face diverse difficulties at work while cooperating in various organic and non-organic teams.Material and MethodsThe study included 326 employees of Pyrzowice (Poland), Szymany (Poland), and Košice (Slovakia) airports (however, people employed at the Polish airports were predominant, N = 250). The average age of the participants was 39.3 years, and the sample was predominantly male (N = 278, 85.3%). During the research procedure, the following questionnaires were used: the Feeling of Threat in the Workplace Questionnaire, the Feeling of Stress Questionnaire, the 10-Item Personality Inventory, and the Mini-COPE Stress Inventory.ResultsThe regression analysis indicated that personality variables did not allow for predicting the level of stress. However, the helplessness-oriented style (β = 0.191, p = 0.004), avoidant behaviors (β = 0.244, p < 0.001), and the feeling of threat (β = 0.147, p = 0.009) were significant predictors of the feeling of stress, and their high level corresponded with a higher level of stress. The final model explained 23% of the total variance in the feeling of stress.ConclusionsBased on the results, practical recommendations should concern developing employees’ skills related to monitoring stressors and strengthening proactivity in difficult or threatening situations. Such proactive strategies may decrease the tendency to use avoidant and helplessness-oriented behaviors that may cause a higher level of stress perceived by employees. Also, the authors recommend providing training and support using some cognitive behavioral techniques because it seems that the regular application of those methods supports the development of agency and control while facing challenging situations. Opis:
Burnout has serious consequences both for individuals and the organizations they work in. The issue generates interest among psychologist and management professionals and – according to the subject literature – there is a growing demand for helping those professional groups who face the risk of experiencing the negative effects of an exhausting working life. The aim of this paper is to characterize the phenomenon of burnout in Poland in the selected professional groups. The primary research was conducted on June and July 2017 on the group of 153 people working in the following areas: healthcare, education, higher education. Two types of questionnaire were used for the purpose of this research. The first was an LBQ Burnout Questionnaire, which is an adaptation of an Italian Link Burnout Questionnaire. The other questionnaire was originally devised by the authors to assess the perception of the phenomenon among Polish employees. The article presents the results concerning all the methods used during research and compared the results of the LBQ and the original questionnaire.

Opis:
BackgroundThe article addresses the issue of attitudes towards safety at work in the context of subjective variables such as psychological stress and the subjective self-efficacy of workers in the aviation sector. The research was exploratory in nature. It focused on capturing the individual experiences of ground handling staff at Polish and Slovak airports. Among the 326 people surveyed were engineers, firefighters, mechanics and electricians – a crew that works in difficult and threatening working conditions on a daily basis, often experiencing unexpected accidents and breakdowns. The psychosocial factors in industry 4.0 and this branch of industry itself are – according to the authors – verified empirically quite poorly. Taking care of safety at work and strengthening a positive attitude towards safety seems to be a key aspect of management in such units.Material and MethodsThe Polish Questionnaire of Attitude towards Safety by M. Znajmiecka-Sikora, the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale and the Plopa and Makarowski Stress Feeling Questionnaire were used in the research.ResultsThe statistical analyses carried out, including regression analyses and a model of analysis of mediation between variables, have indicated that this sense of effectiveness is a key positive predictor of every aspect related to strengthening attitudes towards safety (a cognitive aspect [β = 0.21, p < 0.001], an affective aspect [β = 0.15, p = 0.001] and a behavioral aspect [β = 0.15, p = 0.002]), as well as the overall level of attitude towards safety (β = 0.19, p < 0.001).ConclusionsThe sense of effectiveness is an important mediator between the level of perceived stress and attitudes towards safety, which means that as the subjectively perceived sense of self-efficacy increases, the level of experienced stress decreases and thus the positive attitude towards safe actions and behaviors in the workplace is strengthened. The article presents the risk of occupational burnout observed in health care, as well as possibilities of prevention in this regard. Its authors used their knowledge and experience obtained during the implementation of the international Time2Grow project financed from the European Social Fund. The project was dedicated to developing a burnout prevention model mainly in the area of broadly understood health care. The project was implemented in the Polish-Belgian-Finnish partnership, thanks to which it provided great opportunities to benefit from good European practices. The article presents the results of quantitative primary research carried out on Poland in the group of nurses and midwives, as well as selected results of quantitative and qualitative research conducted in Finland on a group of practicing nurses caring for elderly people.

Opis:
Remote work issues for disabled people are still poorly understood. Due to the high unemployment rate among disabled people, analysis, and solutions to increase access to work are necessary. Remote workers must deal with space, time, and the blurring of boundaries between home and work life. Remote contact also weakens management-coworker relationships, reducing workplace support and professional development. The aim of the paper was to collect opinions on remote work based on interviews with 15 people with disabilities. Their opinions expressed their experience with the reality in which they function. Dual Sentiment Analysis was used with a dedicated qualitative analysis tool (QDA MINER). The respondents mainly described remote work as having good working conditions at home and being satisfied with less contact with others. Our findings suggest that organizing remote work for people with disabilities in a highly individualized way that takes into account their disabilities, job functions, and complex emotional responses can improve job satisfaction and the work environment. Remote work reduces social contact, which reduces stress and boosts job satisfaction for disabled people.
